What I like about your videos is you keep it straight and to the point and avoid fashion jargon. You are the practical man of style. This video is a perfect example of why I like your videos. Appreciate all your hardwork John. You keep doing what you are doing. 👍🏻
Hi , I am from Kolkata, India. I am 42yrs old & work in television industry. I watch most of your videos & quite like your sense of dressing & style statement. Have a nice time Sir
Nice swagg. As these are boots, to top it up a notch I would bend the ends of the Jean, chino's and trouser. I will give it an even higher and timeless style...
John loves dress boots as much as I do. With a fairly slim build and proper length and fitted slim fit dress pants or jeans, this look rocks 👍. So much versatility with the topic of this video. Great job John ☺️
Hello John, I am from Kerala, India and had accidentally chanced upon your channel a few months back. Ever since I have been a huge fan of yours and have been following You closely. I really love each one of your topics and ideas and really look forward to more. Great going john, all the best to you.
I love the Thursday boot company because not only do the make a great boot, but they’re an ethical company. They care about their workers, their environmental impact, and their customers (they’re honest about their markup) I work at an employee owned company and see in them the same values. It’s companies like Thursday Boot Co. that deserve our support. That being said, I just bought two pairs of boots (Explorer and Captain) and I love them. And btw, your video and the video of Real Men Real Style were a heavy influence on my decision.
Australian designed and made R M Williams, are a premium quality dress boot that are very popular with Politicians in Australia. Hugh Jackson who was an investor in the company recently pocketed about $10m when the company was sold back to Australian owners. They were designed and made by a stockman and while in recent years the international owners marketed them as a luxury item, they are just very long lasting work boots in the eyes of Aussie Farmers. But you have really got to like the style of the boot, hand shaped from a single piece of leather, because after 20 years of wear, you can still have them resold and refurbished in the Adelaide factory by old school Cobblers. Phil.
Yhee I got probably something like 7 pairs of dressboats and the R M Williams would be a realy nice adition in black and brown. Very durable, practical and versetile. If I rebuild my wardrobe they would be my top 5 shoes.
@@Myrslokstok With very tough conditions in the Retail sector in Australia and every local Cobbler closed down , now would be a good time to start trolling through the R M Williams shops and the "Factory" store for bargain priced boots. Because not only are R M restructuring, but Australia is half a year out of sync with the global fashion world, so post-Christmas sales are when Retailers discount clothing stock, to rebuild funds required for Winter stock. Well that's what I will be doing, starting with the top of the line, custom leathers, dress boots. In Australia they are ridiculously over priced because they were targeting tourists. So they will be hundreds of dollars off normal retail. But the best value will be the lowest priced boots, because in my opinion the fancy leather models are "Sunday Best" boots, not stockman boots. But you will never find them cheaper than what you will in Australia during January. Phil.
I have 5 pair of dress boots, 2 pair of Chelsea boots, 1 pair of suede chukka boots and two pair of cap toe boots ( one brogue ). The cap toes are side zipper, which make laced boots so much easier to put on and take off. Dress boots are the best option IMO for fall and winter.
Really enjoy your videos. I live in the UK and through your recommendation I ordered a pair of “Thursday’s” boots, and absolutely love them. The service was superb, as I ordered a UK size which of course was wrong, and they changed them with no extra cost. Thank you.
I just got my Thursday 2020 limited release Captains in midnight suede and they are simply amazing in every way . Gorgeous , quality made , and extremely comfortable . No break-in needed .
Thank you very much for showing Thursday Boots. I have been looking for a particular style of boot and they make them. They had a great selection of women's boots. I appreciate all you do.
Almost went with Thursday Boot but found Beckett Simenon. They’re hand made to order so it took 10 weeks but so worth it. They sent me emails about the progress of the boots as they were being made. Also, even though they were hand made, they were returnable. I paid $179 for them. Absolutely ❤️ them. My other boots I bought from Johnston & Murphy. Comfortable straight outta the box and a big compliment getter 👍🏻. I really like your channel … next best thing to a personal shopper 😉
Love my Thursday’s matt black Captains. I just bought some Beckett Simonon wingtip shoes that I’ve had my eye on for a while, so maybe next year for the Thursday dress boots. Thanks John for the video.
I bought a pair of Loake brown brogue dress Boot with the smooth leather sole early this year, just trying them on in the house I slipped on the carpet and landed on my backside, the almost polished smooth leather gave zero friction underfoot and later that day wearing them out, I was walking like Bambi on Ice as I was slipping all over the place. The next day I visited my local shoe repair and had some rubber grips added, only glued on the leather.. What a difference it makes, they feel almost like sneakers. Next year I plan to send them back to Loake to have a proper Goodyear welted studded rubber sole to replace the leather. I just can't get to grips (pun intended) of all leather dress soles.
I love the looks in this video. Also love my Thursday Boots own the Captain and a pair of wing tips but they are the only models they make in a wide so pretty much limited to these two styles for now. But love the fact that they come in different colours.
John, I must say you always look like you've step out of an apparel catalog book. Full of swag and all 👏🏿👏🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿😊👍🏿👍🏿 Also, when it comes to boots... unless I work in construction year round, I sport them during the cold season. Wearing boots in the hot summer sun is not appealing to me.😟😝😝lol.😏
Another great video John. I’m 54 and appreciate you focusing on the older gentleman. I I went w/ Thursday Captains a couple of years ago and totally dig them. As you stated they’re great for many occasions & looks. And I think I have the same combo of Captains as you: Natural & Dark Olive Suede. Great feel w/ the cork midsole, which conforms to your foot as you break them in. I also have a pair of Thursday Cavalier Chelseas in Desert finish that feel even better, IMO, w/ the hybrid sole of leather and studded rubber. They break in quick and go great w/ dark wash jeans, chinos, and more casual odd trousers. Keep up the great work! Looking forward to another video!
One of my favorite videos. Love dress boots and thanks to you I have ordered from the Thursday Boot Company. While I’m watching this video I’m taking notes to your color combinations. I’m telling you...you really know “in my opinion” how to put clothing together. I think I’ll check out those olive suede boots.
I almost exclusively wear dress boots here in the UK. I had a motorcycle accident 10 years ago breaking my leg. The structure of boots is better for my leg. Big fan of Loake and Joseph Cheaney. Hopefully I'll get a pair of Crockett and Jones in the future.
Great video John. Love wearing boots albeit I'm a little short in the leg so I have to make sure that I'm wearing the right length of denim or chino. That's a huge garden you have btw!
I personally don’t care for the laces showing especially when seated, so I always tuck the laces inside my boots! Looks a lot cleaner! I’ve also started doing the tuck laces while wearing my dress shoes as well. People have noticed and commented with...👍🏼
Much appreciated this review answered the exact questions a was wanting know about the versatility. Would like to see a video more detailed about the slip ons if you don't already have one 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼💯
thanks again, john, for another very informative presentation. as i may have mentioned before, i have just relocated from the Bay Area to SW Texas, where we do have four very distinct seasons, especially cold and wet/snowy winters (high desert). so, i have been thinking about incorporating a pair of dress boots into my wardrobe. besides, i can incorporate that part of the texas culture and maintain my californai style. LOL!! thanks again.
Great videos John! I've learnt a lot about style. Thanks. Quick video requests: how to style cowboy boots? and if women find them attractive/sexy when a man wears them? Keep the great work!
I love dressboats, versetile and never out of style. Get a black, brown and suede good year welted full grain. Feels like they last for 15 years and then get a nice patina in the precess. For example I have a pair of black suede slim dressboats. I wear them with a glenchecked suite, and a black suede belt. Probably not perfekt but good enough for me, and it is kind of laybacked and unoverdressing.
I was really skeptical of the online american shoe seller Thursday boots after using a lot of italian and spanish stuffs, but damn Thursday's are truly nice and well-built. Definitely one of my favorite brand rn.
Appreciate your insight on these boots. I’m trying to decide on these or a dark brown leather Chelsea boot for business and casual uses. What are your thoughts?
OK John, I just ordered the dark suede boots you showed. Love your taste! Question...what color pants and type of pants should I wear? I’m thinking brown chinos, jeans. I also have lighter olive chinos. What are your thoughts?
John...great video! Love all the boots. You look great in that first shot with dark denim ensemble... something I would definitely wear👍 My boots are usually more of a "mid" high style. Wonder how I would look with a "regular" boot since I'm 5 foot 8 inches? Can you cuff your jean with a regular boot? I do cuff with mid high boot...love that look! Thanks again for video!
