Thanks Coach for your videos. I tried your semi circle hand recovery technique and I was able to finish 50 meters without being breathless. I still needed a break to do another lap though 😀. Wish I could do 2 laps continously.

Opps, like golf, keep head relatively steady. Proper sequence. From the ground up (from toes) with hip/trunk rotation driving the arms. Remain in balance.

A real eye opener to revolutionize the way front crawl swimming can be done ... can't wait to cast aside the old way of swim mindset and try it out!! Adam: one queston. Is there a reason you never wear a neoprene in spite of very long swims in open water?

so, hip drive to a flat position, with one arm stretch out at the front, and before the recovery arm enters the water, kick to rotate the body before initiating the pull phase, pull after the kick when the body is at its side to take a breath? is that how it is done. thanks.

Thankyou, this is what I also found . I learned to swim a year ago with asthma. And when I found my pace this roll and double kick felt easier and more efficient. No more asthma and lost a stone in weight. But I have swum almost every day for just over a year, and gone at it. Am glad there's a name for it if people ask 🙂

The perfect open water, style, but you need lot's of strenght. Yes 100% I swam 40km in 25kt 2-3 seas in 11hr 48min .. Double Rottnest channel swim in 25th March 2006

Interesting...Is this only for ocean or "open water" swimming? I heard that "rolling" (90°) throws off one's balance and that one should "rock" (45°) instead...as I have rotator cuff (shoulder) issues, I was wondering if I should use this method? Mind you, I am a pool swimmer and barely weigh 100 lbs...
@adamwalker32
@adamwalker32 3 года назад
For pool and open water swimming. 90 degrees only throws off balance if you don't know how to stabilise yourself. This is done with a still head and through drills. The rotation not only maximises momentum and glide but also takes pressure off your shoulders. It was the reason i could continue to swim 6 more of toughest 7 ocean swims in tbe world after 2 shoulder operations. Its a game changer!! It will massively help rotator cuff issues. Checkout vimeo.com/ondemand/oceanwalkertechnique if you want to learn in depth.

@@adamwalker32 In my first swimming course, little attention was paid to rotation. I suffered from a little tendon in my right shoulder. If I rotate more I don't have this problem. Thank you so much for your explanation and video!

Is there a preferred breathing pattern for this? 2,3 or every 4 strokes? Currently I’ve been swimming 3 strokes to alternate sides.
@chrisdm1703
@chrisdm1703 8 месяцев назад
With the gliding is hard to breath every 3 because you are under water for too long. So if u choose every 3, your stroke rate will go up and the efficiency of this technique will drop. The whole purpose of this technique is to decrease the stroke rate. You will need to find a happy medium

@andreasheilmann5588
@andreasheilmann5588 3 года назад
that is very nice and looks smooth and fast, but you forgot to tell us what happens under water because that is where the speed comes in and that is only possible with talent, I could do 1 min for 100 mters but now when doing longer open water I can hardly break 1:50 or so and that is very slow comparing to the triathlet Champions who do around 1:10
