I am diabetic with currently NO regular symptoms of diabetes. On my 3rd day of taking it, I experienced mild nerve pain on my feet. Don’t listen to the suggestion that metformin should be taken at bedtime. The foor nerve pain prevented me from having a good night’s sleep for 2 nights. Fortunately, I figured out the problem. I took Metformin during the day when my feet would be active! I took Alpha Lipoic acid, Vit E, B-12 and Benfotiamine and the nerve pain on my feet stopped.
Serious gas and I've told my doctor about the gas and GI upset. I take it with meals and 1.5 years later still have the problem with only 1000mg total per day
My eyesight came back and my brain and my muscles started to work again when i stopped taking Metformin. I was totally disabled for 4 weeks when my doctor prescribed this Poison.

You mention that it can lower risk of heart attacks, but since I’ve started taking metformin 4 years ago, my homocysteine numbers have gone up...an indicator for heart trouble. After some brief research recently, I’ve read that metformin can directly affect homocysteine levels. Soooo...does it reduce heart attack risk, or in fact, increase it?? 🤔
Yes, I break my 2x1000mg daily tablets in half and take them 4 time daily. Seem to do a much better job of controlling my blood sugar than just taking them twice daily. I tried taking extended release metformin but did not like the results of my blood sugar readings using extended release. Been taking metformin for 45 years. I'm now 80, and doing great....
Hi, can I take propranolol and metformin together, I have severe migraines and was prescribed propranolol , but I forgot to let them know I also take metformin. Please let me know if I can take them or go back to the doctor.
Thank you doctor. My mum has T2 and she was diagnosed six months ago. She already had hypertension and she takes amlodipine . Recently when she started taken metformin she experienced burning and swelling feet when she sit for a short time. We don’t know if the two medication caused that. She did liver and kidney test and she is fine. Her A1C is 7.5 at the moment. Any advice??
I was to at a very young age. Never could have children. Got married at a older age and he wanted children but I told him we would have to adopt. Now I'm to old to adopt so just forgot about the whole idea.
I have been prescribed 2x1000mgs daily for about 40 years and nothing bad has happened. I am now 80 years old. Your prescription of 3 times daily would be a good thing because the metformin would be most effective when most needed.........I break my 2 1000mgs each pills in half and take them 4 time daily.....so far that has worked great for 40 years....
My friend is an alcoholic he drinks 2 bottles of red wine a night, he has type 2 diabetes. He also eats constantly, he loves metaformin as he says it helps him loose weight. He has been told to check his blood sugars and won't, Is he in danger ?
Regular blood sugar monitoring is the most important thing you can do to manage type 2 diabetes. You'll be able to see what makes your numbers go up or down, such as eating different foods, taking your medicine, or being physically active. I highly encourage it for all diabetics.
I have been on 2 500 mg a day one with breakfast one with dinner for 3 years my A1c is the same my diet and health better should the amount go up to decrease A1C
I do not know about A1C .they collect thousands of this machines and ged rid of them becuse they read higher what it should so everybody take medicine for sugar....I think A1C is a scam and Drs follow it .
taking Metformin has become intolerable for me. The side effects are so debilitating for me. Loose stools, gas, bloating, nausea, cramps; I am using different Diabetic drugs to control my Blood Sugars.
Some metformin tablets have a fishy smell, and there is a solution: Ask your pharmacist to either put some sorbent packets (such as StripPax®) into the pill boxes when they fill your prescription, or ask the pharmacist for some of these packets so you do can it yourself. The foul smell make take a few days to go away, but it does work, and you can re-use the packets.
Thank you. Can you take this for say 6 M and then stop it if sugra level are within suitable level ? Meaning can you take it intermittantly as needed basis ?
I have zero side effect on Metformin, but also it has no effect at all, my sugar is well controlled with metformin and without , it's Repaglinide ( gluconorm) that is doing the job, my Diabetes is the result of anti-rejection drugs as I have an organ transplant, Prednisone increases the levels of sugar, Cellcept causes Hyperglycemia and Prograf is the guilty medication, it causes diabetes.
I have type 2 diabetes I'm worried I have heard so meney bad thing s on you tube should I leave and roll the dice don't take it 😮😮I have put it of for a month
Hi Doc. I was prescibed 2 metformin in the morning and 2 in the evening. Im taking 2 morning and 2 lunch time can this cause any other complication. Tq
You probably have the extended release pills which would explain why the doctor prescribed them to be taken so far apart. What do you do at dinner to keep your levels down? Just wondering
Thank you for the information... I noticed you really didn't list your references, medical studies, do you have any? Also.. I found your hand gestures very distracting.
I was distracted by what you were doing with your hands It was really hard to pay attention to the video. Hold your hand still or put them in your lap or something lol
Dr what you can take instead of metformin....it seems to people have no choice ...all of you follow the medical assocation and Phatms what they order nothing new .
Metformin is the safest and most effective drug for type 2 diabetes available and it has been for many years. There is nothing better available,,,,,,,,.
Maybe this will help, I have been taking metformin for 35 years, most of that time 2x1000mgs daily with no negative side effects, but I might have the "longevity" side effect since I am now 79, which is 5 years older than the next oldest member of my family was when they died.........they did not take metformin.....
