for all of you who’ve been crying for the past 2 hours trying to get them out, try keeping your eyes open for a while to get the contacts to dry a little. ive had them for less than a week and i even had a panic attack over it one day. just make sure your eyes are as dry as possible and your fingers. any method works as long as your eyes are dry
@@Chloee234 Just check your fingers are totally dry, open your eye as much as you can, look slightly up and the most important thing, don't have fear. As simple as it sounds. This is what worked for me. Hope I helped you!
@@Wuzzapy they are put as soon as it touches eye they get wet, I don't know what to do, it's my first time ever today, I got them in when I was in the opticians and they didn't even mention getting them out! My eyes are so sore from trying to get them out and because I'm so tired! I just want them!😭
@@Chloee234 i feel sorry for you! That's exactly what happened to me about 3 weeks ago, my eye was red as a tomato and finally one relative took the contact lens out of my eye. I know what you are passing through. Listen. Don't fucking give up, try it another time, check your eye is fully open (holding firmly your lower eyelid) and your fingers are fully dry. You should take them off easily, if you follow this steps, believe me.
Great tips. Nice to see something other than the many "pinch and remove videos" which are not terribly helpful for some beginners. Our kiddo was struggling terribly and this video let her have the confidence to get them out. "That man is a walking miracle"! she says.
As soon as I adjusted my thumb both of my contacts came out in one go! I wish this was the method they showed me at by optometrist instead of the swiping method! Thanks a ton!
I cried in front of the mirror for 30 minutes trying to do the pinch technique, but i tried your first technique and got them out instantly. This was super helpful!
Ive been wearing for a few months and let me tell you… this video is the only video that really helped me. Even now, if I have trouble taking them out, I play this and I can always get it out 😆 this video is like my confidence boost
You totally made my day, I had been trying for multiple hours (ofcourse with a lot breaks, so my eyes don’t die) and your tips made it happen, thanks you so much!
Im new to contacts. this is my 2nd day. I came across your video and it help me to get them out using the thumb and index finger. Now getting them back in(I need way more training than they gave) I will continue to watch your videos until Im comfortable taking them in and out. im a new sub.. Thanks
The tip about the thumb totally worked. I was struggling for about 15mins to get out my trials, and as soon as you instructed on how to use your thumb I got them out 😀
this is the only video that helped me! I almost thought I’d have to sleep with my lenses in but I was able to adjust what I was doing wrong!! Thanks :)
The part that helped me most was when you demonstrated pinching the back of your hand and your knuckle. After I tried that on my knuckle, I knew the grip I needed to use on the contact lens in my eye. You also made it less stressful by explaining that we are not touching the Iris, but just the contact itself.
Thank you so so much I thought I would never get them out. Been trying for 4 hours with your tips it only took 20 minutes ❤️ this is my first time wearing contacts thank you!
Usually it took me around 10 - 15 minutes for each eye to put in or take out (while putting in it was even longer sometimes), but after watching this - no more than 3 - 4 minutes. Thanks!
Thank you thank you thank you!!! I just got contacts for the first time today and I could not get them out. Your tips enabled me to grab the lens and get a good grip and pull it out immediately. You are my hero. My eyes thank you.
I was struggling off and on for almost 2 hours to get my trial pair out. Kept trying to do it the way the eye doctor recommended, but it did not work for me at all. I wish I had found your video 2 hours ago, because thanks to you I got them out in about 5 minutes. Thank you SO much!
At the beginning I thought you were talking too quickly, but your explanation is so clear and have been so helpful! I just panicked a bit and didn’t know how to get the right one out, the left one seems to never be a problem. The part with the thumb was helpful and also the part with the mirror. Before the third part it was out! Thank you so much and bless you! Kindest regards from The Netherlands.
Thank you. Your video was the most helpful video I have seen. The right placement of the thumb was the key to me removing my contacts. I have watched many videos and yours were by far the best. Thank you again. Awesome!!
Dr. Martin, You're a good teacher. I'm new to using contact lenses. Your video made it much easier to remove my contact lenses. The slide method did not work for me. Your tip on using the thumb and index finger worked great! And knowing that I could apply pressure while only touching the contact lenses is a game changer for me. I literally stood in the mirror for over an hour trying to get them out. LOL Your instruction is very helpful. Keep up the good work!
got my trial contacts over a month ago. i struggled so hard putting them in, and taking them out. your videos on both of these subjects have helped me both use them and retain my sanity while trying. thank you so much for putting these videos out!
THANK U THANK U THANK U!!!!! You taught me how to take out my lenses without killing my eyes anymore! I almost gave up until I watched you over & over! Now it is so crazy easy! Thanks again!😀
I just came back from my second contact lens teach session which was successful after using your advice on removing the lens. All I thought about was thumbs first and it worked, removed lens without a hitch!!! Thanks 😊
Thank you so much for this guide ! I just got my contacts today and wasn’t too confident about taking them out ! This was a huge help and confidence booster !
Omg you are a life saver. I always had trouble getting my contact out of my left eye, while my right eye was easy. Turns out I wasn't actually placing my thumb on the lens. Thank you so much for this
Thank you so much. I have been trying to get my contact out for the first time for over an hour. My eye was getting sore and irritated and I didn't know what I was going to do. After watching your video I just got it right out! You were so right, I was not actually putting my thumb on the eye itself. Thanks again!! 😊
That’s awesome to hear Nourah, I’m glad it helped. The thumb is definitely a common cause of people not being able to get their lenses out, because they’re just not aware what’s going wrong.
This helped a lot, I couldn’t get them out at first and I panicked, after I watched this I slowed down made sure my thumb touched the contact as well as my pointer finger, I got them out
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! This is the only video that helped me. I was about to lose my mind trying to get this contact out. (I’m a beginner) Was going to actually just give up altogether but now that I see what I was doing wrong with my thumb I’m going to keep practicing.once again thank you.
Wow! Thank you! Just got dailies yesterday, and your tips were exactly what i needed! I wish I was shown this yesterday at the optometrist! It literally took me 2 tries per eye to get each lens out- so easy!
Thank you so much I recently got contacts and taking them out was almost impossible, the tip about actually putting ur thumb on ur eye and actually grabbing it was extremely helpful
Thank you so much! I was worried I would have to sleep in my contacts because I couldnt get them out, but once I put a lens on my knuckle to see what kind of pressure & motion I needed to use, I got them out immediately:)
Omg thank you so much.. All the other videos I've watched didn't give that crucial game changing tip about the thumb!!! Hurray.. I may have cracked it now. Also finding it easier to not look in mirror and to look down and towards my nose. Also using hydrating eye drops during the day due to computer work makes the lens less gummy to the cornea
After following the instrucitons in this video removal of lenses has become a matter of seconds. Use of thumb was the key for me! Thank you, Dr. Oguzie. Hopefully have a similar easy one to put lens in! Cheers!
I spent like 3 hours trying to get my contacts out for the first time alone.......... Admittedly 2 of those hours were just me crying lols but without this video it would have been Much Much longer... Thank you so much
Spent 4 hours finally put them in. But having a hard time removing them 😔 I clearly had that first index finger and third not hard enough problem - gotta try then next time. A question though: how strong the pressure do we need to apply? I’m really afraid if I use too much force I’d hurt my eyes?
Hello Mr. The thumb tip was the last part i was missing. The ones I went to didn't really tell me that. I now started with the thumb to make sure it had a grip, and then pointing finger after. Went much easier. Thanks!
thank you so much i just spent the past half hour balling cus every time i tried the pinch method of just hurt until i realized i was pinching to much and not actually pressing hard enough on the contact.
Hey Dr. Martin .... thank you for these tips. Im a second time contacts user.... but never really had it the first time....but due to the nature of my job. This was a necessity. Your video helped me to understand exactly what I was doing wrong. Just wanted to thank you and let you know that I liked and subscribed to your channel👍🏿 I definitely appreciate you here in the states
Thank you for making this video. I'm a first time contact wearer and was having trouble getting them out. It turns out I was doing all three of these things wrong. This was immensely helpful!
Not sure if this is normal but, I’ve had my trial contacts (dailies) for a few days now & my left side is no problem inserting or removing (was super easy at my ‘teach appointment also’) however, my right side I am still having issues. It takes approx 4-5 attempts to insert & easily 10-15 attempts to remove to the point my eye becomes blood shot. I also have astigmatism in both eyes so have special lenses. I have my aftercare appointment in 3 days but unless I can do the right side better I don’t know if I’ll be able to continue. Any tips?
I’m sure it is just due to dexterity. Really focus on getting your eyelashes out the way when putting the lens in and focus on making sure that your thumb is on the lens when removing. What my 3 tips for getting the lenses in too. All the best with it, don’t give up.
Do you have any secrets for getting contacts out when you have long nails? I was at an event that required me to have long nails and I was out of town my contacts were stuck in my eyes for 2 days I couldn't get them out no matter what I even had the contact tweezers and suction cup I had to wait until I was home to get them out... it was one of the most painful things I've been through and I'm afraid to wear my contacts now
Sorry for late response. Check out my latest video on alternative ways to remove your lenses. I thing the technique of sliding your lenses down as far as possible until they flip out is a good one for people with long nails as it avoids the need to have to pinch them out first.
If my contact is super dry and feels suctioned to my eye and rewetting drops barely help, what could I do? Are these not healthy for me to wear if they get this dry?
It’s not healthy as the lens needs to move freely and tears underneath it should get regularly exchanged out as you blink. You may have more success if your contact lens fitter can refit your with a different brand or lens material. You may also need to take steps to manage your dry eyes properly in order to remain suitable for ongoing wear.
It shouldn’t be necessary, but in theory if it helps and you can get them out safely without damaging your lenses then it should be fine. I can imagine that if you have to keep very long nails, then this may be one reason someone may look into there contact lens tweezers.
