@@AntonioTheOptom I really appreciate it.. since this comment I can honestly say wholeheartedly, I have most definitely DID NOT overcome the problem and I'm sure many have not either... Very frustrating.
@@steve2jz664 I got over it in a week I suggest having someone like a doctor or family member guide you through and hold your eyes for you while you insert the lenses. The first time inserting the lenses took me 30 minutes and I can do it in 30 seconds now
It gets worse when you have a skin condition, you spend hours trying to figurenout why it's not going in and you skin is drying and cracking because it CAN'T be moisturised 🤣 #Skindisorderlife
I have no issues getting the lens in my eye. The problem is in the removal. That is what brought me to your channel in the first place - Your method for removal works amazing - Thank you!
Me too, I was taught to pinch them to get them dislodged, will never do that again. His method works first time everything and is way less irritating to my eyes!
Same the whole video is triggering me. I bought contacts but the doctor never let me get them because I couldn't put them in lol. I was looking for a tool to assist me 😭
You just made my life easier, I was taught to remove soft contacts by pinching them. I have so much trouble getting them out this way. After watching you video sliding them down and removing, changed my feeling about my contacts thank you keep making these videos please! I don't know why they taught me to pinch them but my first soft contacts were back in the mid 90s and I hated getting them out ever since! This week I finally got a new lenses that I have finally been and I can wear the for 9 hours, before I always had to have a full kit on me to remove them after 6. I did research and asked my optometrist for the brand I wanted to try, it is game changing.
I originally was watching your video to see about these tools! Watched it right the way to the end and you showed how you remove them normally! OMG why has no one showed me this before!!!! I have been pulling the eyes of myself for years trying to pinch them out. Now ever day this week I've got them out in 2 seconds!!! THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH literally saved my life!!!!!
I have worn HARD contact lens for 60 years (yes, not a typo) and I never used tools to insert or remove them. I stand upright looking into a mirror, put the hard lens on my bottom lid and then raise the bottom lid to place the hard lens directly onto the pupil. Works well. To remove the RGP lens, I simply tug on my eyelid and they pop out. May take a couple of tries. My Optometrist just gave me a soft lens (not toric) to try and I struggled getting them in and out. Thanks for this video. Now I think I know how to manage the soft lens.
Thank you for doing this video. I am a 60 year old man using contacts for the first time and find the removal process difficult. I was looking at the products you featured and you saved me the time and effort of trying these products. There seems to be no easy way to do this.
I like the tweezers. Not for anything other than picking up the contact out of the box. Basically it’ll help me not touch the inside of the lens making it basically spotless on my eye
Super useful video, I have been thinking about buying these products for a long time but didn't know if they'll be right for me but bc of this video ik that my fingers are best for both makeup and contact. Thanks!! (PS the grunts when the contacts drop, SUPER relatable lmaoo)
I’m pretty sure the silicone suction part (opposite side of the spoon) is what you’re suppose to use to put the contacts in and the tweezers to take them out 😅 (for the soft lenses similar to the hard contact applicator).
The suction cup thingy is for hard lens correct but you can remove soft lens by pinching it at the base, dont suck or slide it around your eyeball. Instead of your fingers or fingernail the cup touches your lens (pinch it out like you would with fingers with the cup between your finger and lens). For me it helps that I wont accidentally hurt my eye with manicure nails (my fingers and nails only touch the cup). :)
I wear a bandage contact lens that I change once a month because I have a rare degenerative cornea disease, and the lens keeps the tissue from breaking down. Changing lenses is nerve wracking, but after watching this, I think I'll stay away from removal tools lol. Thanks so much for doing this video :)
Oh wow really appreciate your video, the information is so helpful! I always used RGP, and it was no problem removing them with DMV plunger. But I recently switched over to soft contacts and been having trouble removing my lens every night haha. I love your method using fingers, and some of these tools look super interesting, thank you so much for trying them all out!
I'm very new to contact lenses. The second day was 10 times faster than the first day. For removing the lens I found it easier to make sure to roll the finger and thumb together when pinching. I see it in example videos, but you have to stay disciplined and not blink, or squint, etc.
I'm new to wearing contacts and been looking at applicators and been curious about them and when you showed how you removed it at the end I was thinking "I must of been doing something right" because I tried that. Still had difficulty doing it the other night but once you said dislodged now I know what else I should do. Currently I've only worn contacts twice and still deciding if I want dailies or long wears.
The best method I've found and safest to remove is. Dragging the eye down with one hand. Chin right in to give a double chin so its touching neck. Look up into the mirror which exposes the white of the eye at the bottom. You will see the lens sits about a mm around the colour part of eye. You will be aiming for where the colour part meets the white. Using your other hand shape it like this 👉 so you are pointing index at your nose. Place index finger on that mm of lens at bottom of colour part where it meets the white and drag. As you drag down don't just drag down straight it will just remain on the eye or go in bottom lid. Drag it like a 'J' shape following the shape of your nose. You need to keep slight pressure all the way down and it will flick the lens over the bottom lid when you complete the bottom of the J shape. Usually takes 1 to 3 drags but don't forget if you blink the lens moves back to the colour part. You must also keep eye still and focused to make sure your catching that mm at the bottom centre and watch it in the mirror. If you look side ways or up eg. not looking up into the mirror, you are just dragging the white part with no lens. Safe, no pinching, good for false nails too. Very easy 👌 The position would be 2.55 but with chin down, look up into mirror and his R hand (one with stick) like 👈 Let me know if it helped anyone below.
Hmm. I was actually looking to buy one of those suction cup ones but not anymore! I’m glad I came back to your channel to see what you thought about it. I have such difficulty getting my contact out but maybe I’m just not dislodging it enough. The problem is I can’t see if I’ve successfully dislodged it or where to grab it. I’ll just have to keep working on it.
New subscriber here. I can say that I've learned a lot from your different videos so far. Thank you.. Planning to buy contact lens soon that's why I'm here. ☺️
Haha omg this video was great super helpful but also hilarious. I just got some long nails and I’m not used to them so it was taking forever to remove my contacts so I bought that eye plunger tool not realizing it’s for hard lenses only (different company that didn’t label it that way) and when I tried using it I felt like my eyeball was going to come out 😂😂 lesson learned lol
This was great! But maybe it is worth trying the hard contact remover but slide the lens over first? i.e. Stick it on like you did at the 11:44 mark but instead of pulling straight out, move the lens sideways so it off the cornea and then pull? I have rough finger tips and did not realize I had a splinter in my index finger while trying to remove a lens. Ouch.
My 13 yo son is currently trialling contact lenses to slow down the progression of his myopia and we literally spent 1.5 hours tonight trying to get his contacts out. He was frustrated to tears, his poor eyes were so red from prodding and poking them 😔 and I couldn't help him as the way I take out my contacts didn't work for him. I'm so glad I came across your video because I was actually going to buy some of these tools for him as I've seen them before, so I was looking for some reviews. But I'll definitely get him to try dragging the contacts to the bottom of his lid tomorrow, (IF he'll give the contacts another go. I think he was done with them after tonight).
I was thinking of using the hard contact lenses suction tool but I'm glad he showed that it's not the correct tool to use. He made me laugh when he had the suction tool stuck on his eye while moving his eye around lol
Lol I came here because I purchased some contacts that came with a case tweezers and suction cup and I was questioning weather they were safe and effective and I’m glad I checked your video before I went at it myself.
This was so helpful ! I have a hard time taking my contacts out & end up pinching my eyeball for some reason so I was thinking about a tool. Thank you !!!
Sounds like it could use a smaller and lower powered suction cup for soft contact lenses ? I don't wear contact lenses but are looking into getting some . I had tried some sample contacts on years ago and remembered it was impossible to put them on but after a few drinks , no problem !
The "suck cup" on the first one is used for the application btw, not removal. I would manually remove contacts from my eyes. On the 2nd removal, I would have dipped it in solution first to help it stick to the remover.
"What if I went _even harder!_ let's give that a go..." >:] You diabolical jerk! Haha You knew you were gonna gross out people like me with that one! Also, that blurry out of focus "Aah! Mmmmggh!" :| was hilarious.
Can you try this with the bottom of the plunger cut off to allow air through and reduce the suction. Maybe with a scleral lens applicator cuz they have a hole going through the center
Oh my god. I thought I'd prefer tools because I have an eye phobia... but no thank you. Hahaha This was an absolute nightmare to watch. In a good way. Thanks for this! It was very entertaining in a disgusting and educational kinda way.
Thank you for the video! The reason I want to buy an applicator is because I am starting to wear nail tips, and I find it difficult to put on my contacts with them. Getting them out isn't a problem for me though :)
2:34 From what I've seen on the advertisements and online tutorials, that's not the applicator, that's the end you use to remove the lens from your eye. The other end which you were using to remove the lens is the actual applicator. You got the ends mixed up. I have eczema and need to keep my hands moisturised. I'm considering a tool like this. From what I've seen Sometimes cutting nails are not exactly the convenient or ideal solution. Some people have acrylic nails which cost a lot of money to get (e.g. $150AUD fancy acrylics) and which they often intend to wear for mor than a week or two, so they wouldn't exactly want to cut off their nails to just to put contact lens on, removing acrylics take time as you sometimes have to first file them down (not just the free edge, but also the area that's on the real nail), to get them thin enough to be clipped off in the first place. Other than that, I also see those tools are a great alternative if you have also torn off your nail and you have to keep the injured nail bed away from other liquids.
I have to say I never once thought about using a tool. Partly because I got them in and out after two tries the first time I ever did it. But also because oh. my. god. Using a tool sounds terrifying.
Can you please post a video for removal of RGP lens with DMV hard contact lens remover. I am a keratoconus patient and i tired to remove the RGP lens using the blinking technique as well as the technique of placing two fingers up n down the lens to break the vaccum to remove the lens.. But both the techniques failed. So i have discontinued wearing it right away. I always have a fear of what if i can't remove those lens from my eye.
I'm 37 and got contacts for the first time about 2 weeks ago. My "instruction" included a ~30 minute video and practical, which included placing and removing the lens. The entire time I was in office, they had gangsta rap blaring (I love rap thats not the problem), and I could still hear them talking shit about how they wish they never sold contacts again. So unprofessional. I hate it there. Now, I'm not sure how confident I am using contacts. Oh well
So is there a soft contact remover you would recommend? I've tried using contact lenses but removing them was the hardest part as I have dry eyes from taking daily allergy meds.
I will give you a like for 11:30 hahaha and also for the tip on removing the contact lenses, its really the hardest part for me, especially with my astigmatism.
i just bought a graded soft contact lens after wearing hard non graded colored one, and its sooo hard like i cant pinch them to remove like i did in hard contacts
I’m a new contact patient starting in my mid 40’s. I’m having a hard time putting them in and really a hard taking them out. I have only successfully got them out with the push out technique (by looking down towards the nose and pushing downward with my top eye lid. Like I’m trying to rub them out I can’t do the tweezer pinch or slide the contact to the side and the pinch it, out) It has taken me an hour or more to just put one contact in. I know it takes patience. I also get this burning sensation on the bottom eye lid when I’m putting them in. I do have somewhat of slanted eyes as I’m Pacific Islander decent. What do you think I should try. I can’t pull my upper eye lid up as I get scared and my eye lid goes crazy and I want to blink. I have noticed that I have to start with my face looking downward as I look up with my eye to get them in. Do you have any suggestions?
Hi, you might have gotten the hang of it now, but here are some tips: When inserting the lens, I would suggest using both hands. Using the right hand you will pull down the lower eyelid and place the lens. With the left hand you will have to place your arm on top of your head, reach down and pull up your top eyelid. If you need to blink while pulling your top eyelid you are probably touching your eye, try holding it open by your lashes instead. As for removal: sliding the lenses down and pinching should be the easiest way of removing them, but if you really aren't able to you can use some eye solution to flush them out. Hope this helps!
@@kristianl7117 thanks for the reply. I have concord the technique with.left hand pulling the eyelash’s up as I pull down the eyelid with the right hand as that’s my dominant side. I really have to relax and try to let the anxiety pass before I apply. If I don’t my upper eyelid wants to blink like crazy. Down so far. I’m getting the pinch technique down little at a time but it’s working.
@@DJMEDIC671 No problem. It takes time and practice, but you'll get the hang of it eventually. I have worn contacts for over a decade now and can easily touch my eyes without blinking, but it definitely used to be a struggle. Good luck!
Yeah that first one isn't working because you're using it all wrong. You put the lens on the handle end, that's why it fell off. You INSERT the lens by picking it up with the tweezers, place it in the suction cup at the OTHER end, and then insert. You then use the tweezers to extract.
I tried lenses for the first time yesterday .. I managed after 3 hours to put my right eye on, and then with a pair of pliers I took it off after 30 minutes of intense stress . it's really scary, I don't have the strength to put them back yet 😫
So I just gotten contacts I am 23 and I just need something more helpful to put them in my eyes removing them is easy but trying to put them in my eyes is just the hardest
