Very nice! Thank you. I'm claustrophobic and just got my first helmet (a Shark Evoline 3, it's a "modular" capable of riding as a ¾ open face, or a full helmet.) and having the d-rings made me feel a bit trapped. Claustrophobia isn't so much about tight spaces, it's more feeling constrained and unable to escape or move. I started riding with my helmet in the open position, straps undone, just puttering about my suburbs on my 50cc scooter... then I took a few laps with it closed, and now I'm okay with it strapped up if the front is open... but I just hated not being able to get it off quickly if I start to panic. Once I get my nerves under control, I'll take it on my real bike on the main roads, and this will help a ton! It's so much quicker and I can even do it in gloves! Thank you. So much! This means a lot, because I refuse to ride my motorcycles on main roads unprotected and I can't stand D-rings!

Wow I thought I was the only one who freaked out with the helmet straps! I also freak out wearing tight ties and anything tight around my neck. I feel like my airways close shut and I can’t breath and one time I even threw up because of it. I am not afraid to be in tight small spaces my issue just has to due with my neck. Never thought it could be claustrophobia though. Good to know

I feel like an idiot. Never knew why that red strap was there. Just tried it and I can say that you have literally changed my life. I'm not jk. I always fully undo both the d rings. by sticking a fingernail in between them and slowly inch by inch pulling the strap out. FML!

This is fine as long as the strap is long enough in the first place... Some helmets have barely enough strap to pull through the rings to start with - I doubt you'd be able to pull this trick off with one of those helmets!

I've always just loosened up the chin strap enough to take it off. You have to watch out that it doesn't catch your nose as you pull the helmet off, though. It would probably take me a lot more than 12 seconds extra to put the strap back together.

***** Yes. I do "tear drop" I didn't know what the red strap was there for. I literally have to fight and pry both d rings using my fingers nails, each and every time. And slowly inch by inch pull the strap out. And I've been riding for 7 years. I think prying the d rings was the worst part of it. I mean I have down to a science now. But yes I still have to pry those d rings using my nails. haha. And I never really gave it up much thought as to why those red straps were there. sigh I went and got my helmet after watching this vid. And my mind has be blown away! Its so easy, and all I had to do all these years was pull that red tab.
@Atlas_FPV
@Atlas_FPV 9 лет назад
You can also just push the strap into the D rings from your neck and it will create a loop between the D's that you can hook your finger into to pull the strap through.
