This is literally one of the only videos I’ve found where an artist sits down, shows step by step closeup exactly how to Tattoo for beginners. Awesome video, I appreciate all of your tips🙌🏼
@@naziradauletkulova5947 please link a video that you deem appropriate. After every video someone says something like this but offering no education or insight. As a beginner, I can do my own research, but I don't know what is on point vs wrong. This seemed good to me. So I don't know.
@@naziradauletkulova5947 also, you say you wouldn't do anything he's doing, this is alarming, please comment back and let me know what to avoid specifically. That would be a huge help. Thanks!
@@glenmchargue5461 there are alot of shitty vids..i think tattoo university has the best...slow momotone guy but he is the real deal and will show you properly everything you need to know..
I impulsively bought a kit today and wanted to do my first piece, I went to go do my first line on a practice skin and realized I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing, so now I'm here. When he said "crawl before you can walk" it really put me in my place
Can you make a video giving us examples of what not to do? Like tear up the “skin” and stuff. And tell us how to avoid doing that. Basically just do everything wrong, show us the consequences, and how to correct it. Hopefully that makes sense. :)
Watch videos of work done on real skin with a clear view of what's going on. There are thousands. Always error on the side of not going too deep the first part of the line and wipe. Until the line is solid. Tale three tries if need be. Cuz all skin is different! You will find the bog naturally and much more easily than most people think. After my first line or two on someone I rarely take more than two passes at the first bit of the line from then on. Of course the goal is one pass but at first just error on the side of little more deep at a time like digging rather than cutting etc. You can even ride the tube at first on color packing if you have no supervision etc. Too deep = blowout. Not deep enough = second pass and few extra seconds of time.
What my mentor told me (different field but we still practice on oranges!) when I was frustrated that I couldn’t get the sutures how I wanted them was, “ crawl before you walk, jog before you run, and breath always.” It really applies to everything in life man. Like I may be up in the ER and operating room, but what you say is really a good lesson for everything! Love, love, love the disclaimer that you say before certain things! Also you’re an amazing artist and teacher
@@Alex-hi2km did you see the stencil?...all washed out from being to wet when applied...id stay away from all these bad habbits..where the stretch?...feel me?
If your a beginner, do NOT watch any other videos on how to tattoo. You’ve found the best one. I’ve only watched 2 of this guy’s videos and he’s giving it all to you. Nearly ALL other videos from other people will mislead you and most the time it’s on purpose. I’ve been tattooing for a few years and just happened to stumble across this video because of auto play…. I wish I had found this guy when I first started. Would of saved me a lot of time.
these videos are really helpful as someone who's been doing art on pen and paper for a long time, but wants to get into tattooing professionally at some point, thank you
I've just bought everything I need from tattoo guns to a&d cream, needles inks etc. This is a great idea. Thanks a lot. I'm in the UK, I bought it because it worked out cheaper than the tattoos themselves. (only my four kids names) so this is awesome mate thank you.
So glad I stumbled upon your videos. You always have some very solid and considerate advice that I wouldn’t hear elsewhere. Feels like a big brother or cousin is just hanging out, encouraging me and teaching me how to tatt and properly do stuff. Thanks, subscribed 👊🏼
you got a sub for these videos. Wholesome, educational, and actually filled with tidbits of OG secrets. Its been 8-9 years, but I used to be at kens shop. Looking to rejoin the scene soon so I looked up some videos as I'll need a confidence refresher, found these. Half of what he's saying, they gaurded and taught to the apprentices in shop over a long period of time.
Hey bro, I'm from Guatemala, a little country from central America, and I appreciate what you've done here. I learnt a lot, keep doing what you did on this. You've helped me a lot understanding what this is about. Subscribed!
Oranges are far from the texture of real skin. Just because it looks nice on an orange, doesn’t mean he’s got skills on skin. There is no skin stretching. He’s not wiping..or dabbing I should say, after every line pull. His hand speed/machine speed ratio is off. Most of that ink wouldn’t set in real skin. But you won’t know that, because he isn’t wiping after his line pulls. He wipes maybe 4 or 5 times the whole sesh. Which gave that ink a lot of time to dry. He also doesn’t use a lubricant of some kind like A&D or something similar. Though, I’m sorry that whoever did your dream tattoo, botched it on your skin. I’m just relaying the fact that, oranges are much different than skin. So if what that guy is doing, “looks good”. There are lot of things he is doing that are not good habits to have as a tattoo artist. But hey, the next time an orange comes to him for a tattoo, dude has them covered for sure lol
@@MrProfit420 he did use a&d but not all the time I hope you have experience and are not a self proclaimed tattoo artist because I am taking your info ps thx
@@mosesnavarrette5388 Firstly, I never proclaimed myself to be anything. But you can Go right ahead and do whatever you want. Because I do work and do tattoos at a shop in Los Angeles CA called Zillionaires Ink on 405 N Mountain View Ave.
I appreciate you big dawg, Man to Man I really do. I've been looking for videos on RU-vid tryna fine the right info for someone that just getting into the game like myself and I can't but you g, you've helped me a lot. a lot of these other channels have some knowledgeable info but aren't really considerate of seeking tattoo artist and you cover it all from just basics things to the most important stuff. I appreciate you going into depth about everything. just bought my first mast tour machine and very excited, I bought 2 coil machines in 2020 and been practicing on those but got really tired of having to deal with wiring and all the other problems coil machines come with. again thanks a lot, I do and will continue to watch your videos.
samee but i would still like to do apprenticeship i am doing this for 2 months and already can do basic minimalist and shadows on oranges and fake skin
Wife here...You are so right got to get the feel of that gun first! I'm still learning..been practicing on myself just don't have much time with 5 kids but I'm dying to learn! Definitely bout to go buy some oranges today and get to it!!
Thx for your knowledge! Just bought a kit , its mostly for me, i dont wanna make it a living. So,,You are helping me so much. Thank again, Big Love, from Montreal, Québec, Canada. Peace!
Him: "you should not be on real skin right now. Perfect the orange first!" Me: *practicing drawing lines for the first time on my friends arm* "but...how does he know?!" 🤣
I am in love with your teachings sir, honestly I'd love to get these machines down to my country Nigeria so I can start practicing everything you've taught us here online. Please help me 🙏
shouldn't there be wiping after each line to confirm its fully filled? i get this is a demonstration but i feel liek youd get cleaner lines checking them rather than doubling back over all the lines again.
you and those oranges. you would love Sacramento CA every other house has citrus growing, rotting off the trees!!! come to Sacramento and people would probably buy those drawn-on oranges....your welcome in my city.
Please don't make "sterile" water with tap water and alcohol. Unless it is more alcohol than water, it's not going to be sterile and can cause infection.
Your ink isn’t sterile. The razor usually isn’t sterile. The shop you’re in isn’t sterile. Use your head. I’ve gotten over 5 dozen tattoos, two dozen given by myself in my goddamn basement. Not one infection. Infection comes from shitty aftercare or an “artist” shredding the skin.
@@austindorf83 ye honestly, if you consider how ppl used to do tattoos in the past or like where(prison, ships etc) the infection usually comes afterwards, even if you mess up during tattooing on sth hygienic wise you clean the wound in the end and re-sterilize it, also the odds of getting an infection are scarce if the tattoo(as said above) is done right and its not a scar-level deep .My tattoo artist goes on and on about after care but I ve seen him not giving a flying shit about his new tattoos :P
sdas kalas Even scar-deep tattoos haven’t been infected on me. Someone just gave me a tattoo machine one day and I went to town on tattooing myself. I made tons of mistakes, and scarred myself in the process. Still, not one infection. And yeah, like you said, I don’t take care of my tattoos AT ALL. I’ll apply aquaphor for a day or two, but after that I just let it be.
You can buy sterile water from Amazon. It's medical-grade, pretty cheap, and basically what is sold by Ink manufacturers as "solution" and all I use to thin ink. Water will help color packing! If you dip your needle use 90% alcohol. Distilled water, Springwater, and any bottled water should not be used in tattooing!
Sir two questions if you could answer please. 1) why do you put tape around the machine? I see this everywhere but don’t understand why it’s done. 2) I was told the machine is to be held at a 90 degree angle when tattooing, after seeing you, I’m assuming it’s not necessary.
Bottled water is tap water..and a&d?..ride the tube!?..never ride the tube, learn to do it corectly. 6 volts on that orange is ok but real skin is gonna need a little more power and a slower hand..i see that pinky but missing the 3 part stretch that is required for skin.. i do not advise taking advise like this..go for it! Use your skin cause aint no orange teaching you a damn thing..learning lots of bad habbits here.. going to fast at low volts, absolutly no stretch witch is a very important thing to remember..easy to forget wile tattooing especially if you dont practice tattooing correctly..this is very elementary and if your not willing to sacrifice a little of your own skin to learn on the your not all in...yea again tight circles...but never mentions stretch, yea i know you dont stretch on a orange and thats why i say its one of the worst ways to creat bad habbits cause that is all youll be practicing if you do this..at least go get you somepig skin..free most the time at most butchers.. this is far from actually practicing correctly.. and volts dont go by how comfortable you are..its about power and hand speed.. prolly a good idea to skip this vid.. youll learn only bad habbits and false machine setup..o and yea..put alcohol in that water..that will feel real nice...smh.. any child can play with an orange..but you learn nothing but bad posture and obviously this should have been more about how to aply a stencil useing to much stencil stuff, thats why it bled out and looked shitty from the get go..
What pieces would you sculpt and not sculpt...been doing tattoos for about 6 yrs still learning basically stick to line work EVERYONE LOVES MY LINE WORK-BUT- IM READY YO GROW
Hey man nice vid! Have you had any problems with that machine? My one cuts out under 7 volts and wouldn’t run with my WJX cartridges 😓🤦🏽♂️ it runs fine without a cartridge but once I put one on, drama starts. Have you had same issues with that machine?
The plunger or barb rod.., is that removable? Or is specifically made for that machine? I’m asking bcs if that ever bends or the ball tip breaks off, can you buy another barb rod the same length or do you need to buy it specifically for the Mast Flash? …………… the rod looks like it’s built into the machine.
Careful with this type of info. As an early tattoo artist I use to sculpt the lines but that only created bad habits! If you can do it I’d recommend first pass lines every time. I notice a lot of these newer artists use the line sculpting and don’t realize they’re doing more damage then a clean looking line
