My last guide dog waa a boxer who would have been rejected from most guide dog training, but he was the dog I had, and I needed a guide dog so I trained him. He turned into the best dog so far. He fell into a covered pool once before we had a chance to teach him about them. Luckily my husband was there at the time. Rather than jump in, he calmly walked along the edge of the pool and guided the dog to the steps. My family asked why he didn't jump in and he said, "now he'll remember where the steps are, and how to get out from the cover."

I confirm that The HUGE difference between Hans and all other trainers I have personally met or watched on utube is that he explains, he could explain to us, every second of his guidance, his logic - so it comes to us clear How and Why we should guide our dogs so we can understand their mindset and become a leader of our pack. Thank you Hans, thank you Zdenek!

I really like the way you approach this with showing the dog where he cannot get out first then showing him where he can. Very good idea. Good video, I’m sure this will be of help to people who have pools. Your genuine love for dogs always shows. Your video on why someone (like law enforcement etc…) shouldn’t send a dog in water after a bad guy is a good video too! I like seeing other people who are truly thinking about the safety of the dog and not just seeing the dog as a tool. Like in the video discussing the dog targeting the weapon arm. Teaching the dog how to actually “fight” and not just hold on one spot making him more vulnerable to being hurt or killed. Very good content. I’m enjoying all your videos. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experiences! And the dog that you’re talking about at the end of the video, I’d like to see that. I think that would be a good one to show that can be done. Edit: referring to the very friendly dog. The dog that took a while for the down command would be a good video too though.

Very important to teach your dog how to get out of the pool ,especially a smaller dog.All the scenarios you mentioned are very valid.Good to have another dog that already knows how to get out.Teach your kids to swim young!
