Thanks for this video! Something to note for anyone watching in 2022- I just spoke with Samsung, many of their memory cards are now being manufactured in Korea as well as the Philippines.

@@AlexAutoFun I spoke to the Samsung representative over the phone, so I'm afraid I don't have any written documentation. But I'm willing to bet that you could contact them about this via email and get it in writing- their customer support is very responsive and helpful!

This is indeed correct. I just received a Samsung Evo plus 512gb, it's 100% legit, and it's made in Korea.

Here is another thing that isn't mentioned when looking at the packaging. For the U3, A2 and V30 logos, check they look right. I got a fake and the U3, the 3 was touching the bottom of the U, and A2, the A was just an italic A, it didn't have the little gap in the cross bar, and the V in V30 was not the right shape, the serifs on the V were all blobby. The fakers just made them from fonts not the proper logo shapes.

Thanks for this guide, I ordered a samsung 128gb one and was a bit hesitant to open because I didn't pay that much, but luckily this has helped me confirm that I got a real one.

My SD card, a Samsung EVO Plus 512gb card... made in Taiwan... black edges... reads 12mb and writes 15mb... The real card boasts 130MB. This is indeed a fake. Thank you SO MUCH for your detailed and clear review of fake SD cards. I will be shopping for a real one today and will be checking it with what you showed here.

Got my “1TB” sd card from Walmart but didn’t realize it was from a third party online member. I really don’t like how businesses are now having third parties get involved with their business. Bestbuy does it too. Only 2-3 games fit on it so can assume it is a fake. Going to try that software to confirm how small of a sd card it really is 🤦🏻‍♂️

Yep! Fully agree with you, it's somewhat confusing when I go on a website but the product is not being sold by the site I'm visiting an a 3rd party instead is. And sometimes is obvious but sometimes they don't make it as obvious as you would expect. Hope you get yours swap out or refunded friend, Cheers!

@@AlexAutoFunis there an app for Mac to test them on? My windows computer doesn’t seem to read the micro SD to SD to USB adapter but my MacBook can read the microSD to SD adapter since my laptop has a SD reader slot

@@AlexAutoFun yes those apps are great but my windows computer doesn’t seem to read the microSD from my USB adapter. My Mac does pick it up since it has an SD reader and I have a microSD to SD adapter. I’m seeing online that there’s macports and can use F3 to check. Hopefully it works for me. As was mentioned, it is for the best to order from legitimate sellers BUT even Amazon has errantly sold bad units! Fortunately, Amazon took it back and allowed an exchange for the REAL Samsung card.

Hi, I bought a 512gb micro sd card and everything looks fine as far as the card itself looks with the white paint on the edges as well as there being letters "AM" for it too be sold in America. But instead of it being manufactured in the Philippines, it was made in Korea and that's my concern if it's legitimate? It was made in Korea not the Philippines.

@@Andrew80_1 Mine works kind of fine after checking how many games I could download, which is currently at least 300 Gigabytes, but I also read somewhere that the actual size of the card isn't going too be like the actual advertised size for most cards when downloading games. What I mean by that is if you buy a *512GB* card then you will have up to like *496GB* or slightly less of storage to use to download. There's a bit more explaination as to why that's the reason, but you're gonna have to look it up yourself if you wanna know why. Also, if you think you're card is a fake be sure to look up guides online to see if it's the real deal and not a fake. There are specific signs that show if it's real but there's also an app that reads the card's storage to see if it's legit. I think it's called H2testw.

Hi Shark Island! interesting, if the country code does not match the ones I showed, you may be dealing with a counterfeit, I would keep checking it to see if you can find other signs of a fake and if so you may want to contact your vendor for support or replacement. Hope this helps, Cheers!

Okey, estoy asustado mi empaque por la parte trasera no se parece en nada al tuyo, ni siquiera dice en donde fue hecho. Aunque los códigos del paquete si coinciden con una Evo Plus 128 GBs 2021. Hi. I am from Italy and I purchased a Samsung Evo Plus micro SD. Now, on the back, the model number ends in /CN and on the left is write "Made in China". And the edge of the micro SD is black. I sent a message to the seller explaining that I thought it was fake, but he said he didn't agree. However he said he would return it. I contacted Samsung, also sending the photos, but they said they can't see if the menory is fake. Not even asking if the edges are black or if the wording was potentially fake. So, I find myself with an SD card that I have no idea if it's fake or not. Can you help me?

Hi Nel! That is strange, Samsung is usually been very responsive in terms of customer support, at least that is what I been told by viewers. Well if Samsung can't help you and you suspect a fake SD card, I would take the sellers offer of return it and then you can buy again from another source, hopefully with better luck (I placed links in the description to the memory card I use if it helps), it so annoying we have to deal with the counterfeits out there. Always look at the bytes, example 127,831,900,160 bytes means your correct size 128GB card. Don't look at anything else. In tech calculations bytes will show different to GBs. If you have 512GB card and it shows 497,564,234,165, than it's NOT necessarily fake, but it's NOT full 512GB card you paid for.

Hi montisino and thank you! ah I have not seem APC before you may have an issue there (check the other clues on this video to see if anything else doesn't match) I would also recommend contacting your vendor to see if they can provide you with a formal document from Samsung indicating if APC is a real Samsung Memory Card (I seen cases where some shady sellers will assure the customer the card is real but without any proof from the manufacturer) Please keep us posted on your findings, Hope this helps, Cheers!

@@VoltzIsSalty Glad to hear they helped! yeah mostly stayed with the stock turbo when they began cracking down on emissions here in Cali, it's gotten really bad, they fail you for the smallest reason and the state has flagged certain car models for straight to Referee so we can't even use normal smog places in some cases. The last straw for me was seeing Smog inspection checkpoints, can you believe that man, they literally carry a dyno and a lift to check cars on the road ugh..

@@VoltzIsSalty Yep! man I donk if you heard but last yr they made it illegal to tune your car, crazy stuff man, several of my buddies are leaving CA because of all the regulations and also I don't know if you noticed but there is an influx of tuner cars from CA selling to out of state buyers because we just can't have them here like we did before (big part of the reason I sold my Cobra)...

Dang. I haven't tested on my computer yet, but based on all your tips ; I definitely got a counterfeit 1TB Samsung Evo. First of all my SD card didn't have any writing on the back. The actual micro SD card had black edges, instead of white ones. Not to mention that the micro SD card said it was made in Korea!

Hi Alfredo! sorry about that, I shoud have been more clear, Country codes are a term we use in the industry, it's different that the normal traditional Country term use for actual Countries like say USA or Mexico. We use the terms for regions or areas. Hope that makes sense and thanks for watching bud!
