An Urfe rig, 3 below rig, or Portuguese rig among other names, is a super simple but very effective rig for catching a variety of different species from the shore. Here we show a very simple way to tie the rig.
I use the urfe rig for quite a range of species from flatfish like sole and flounders, to bass and giltheads in the estuaries. I also use it for light summer fishing for bream, gars etc.
@@antjohnson4236 actually it casts extremely well if the hooks and any pop ups are kept on the smaller size. It's surprising how well it does cast. The lack of components (swivels, beads etc) reduces the drag through the air.
Very easily. I regularly use a 5m snood on an urfe bar. The snood trails the lead, so you are only casting the lead. You can use the same drop from your rod tip to the lead as you would with any other rig.
