Iv had a tope off chesil but was Only a pup n I wasn’t fishing for one lol but I know a guy who does,he hits a 6oz grip lead as far as he can n uses 5/6ft of American fishing wire on a breakaway live bait slider with a live mackerel,whiting or pout..👍🏻

Try looking up tying thick mono on you tube I use a knot I got from one of the videos and it works really well on mono up to 200 lb plus breaking strain

Nice one and very helpful. So much to learn ! Btw... Did the 3 anglers suggest the best bait for Tope ?.guessing it's a whole Joey elasticated or sardine maybe ? Cheers

What brand is the circle hook?

I think these were VCM , I have had problems in the past but be careful as lots of lighter versions around. Sorry couldnt find the Number for them.

@@SaltwaterAngler thanks I'll have a look at those. I've been trying catfish hooks as pennels and also circles (varivas) but some of the circles appear to come as what the Americans call a Shinner hook which are more bent towards the hook shank. The ones in your video seem more like what I would class as a circle hence the reason for my question. Not hooked a Tope yet (not for the want of trying) so I guess I don't know what works but sometimes certain hooks just seem to look right whilst others don't.
