Thanks for the comment! Yeah it's my go to knot for braided line (hard to branch out once you learn something that works so great.) I've seen several of my friends tie a standard fisherman's knot in braided line only to have it slip and watch their terminal tackle fly off into the water so I figured it'd be worth sharing how to tie this knot. I don't know too much about fly fishing but I'm sure there's a use for it there somewhere. Thank again for watching!

@@CascadeBackcountry The knot you are tying here is not a Uni knot, but the Fish-N-Fool knot. The uni only goes through the hook eye 1 time, and is shown with 4 wraps around the main lines in most cases. The Fish-N-Fool knot goes through the hook eye twice, and has 5 to 8 wraps. This is a knot I created some 35 years ago and it was on "Knot Wars" back in 2009. It won and was crowned the worlds strongest line to lure knot. You also didn't tie it correctly as you let the lines cross on the hook eye which severely weakens the knot. you might also watch the way I tie it as it is a little easier than how you do it although I must admit you are much closer to tying it correctly then 99% of the guys that are tying it on RU-vid. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oA2XKUF11_8.html

I have never had this knot fail. However, you don't have to do a double wrap, I think once through would work just fine! When tying mono or fluoro, I just use a standard old-school fisherman's knot. Hope that helped! Thanks for watching 😁

I, in fact, DO KNOW. No it does not matter. I've never once had this knot fail. I've used it for trout and salmon. Thanks though

@@omeromer9300 Sorry to say you are totally misinformed, passing the line through the hook eye twice makes this a Fish-N-Fool knot which is the strongest knot you can tie. about 30% stronger than the standard uni.

@@jasonmoore6419 Yep, I’m one of those for who these type videos are intended. I actually paused his video to do my five wraps so I didn’t fall behind. I’m that inexperienced. Hitting the beach tomorrow and I’m confident my knot will be up to the job as it’s mullet season here in Florida.
