Over the years , I did not realize that just an extra wrap on a longer hitch cord was ok , I thought, I was tying it wrong. You showing the three raps , then 5 as you showed here in your video, really clears up my confusion. thanks for another excellent video !
I've been enjoying your videos. I recently made myself a 15 foot lanyard and your video was my "go to" for tying the knots. Very informative and useful information. Thanks
@ Urban Bushman. Bino's lanyard video was awesome. I made one myself and love it. Actucally get ready to make another one for a spare. He has lot of great videos and i follow him religiously. Keep up the great videos Bino!!!
I know you get this a lot, however thank you for the videos. You're helping people like myself learn low and slow as well as develop a climbing system that fits their gear and skill level. Your my number one resource for development as a climber. If there is anyway to pay you back, please let this community know. Thank you again.
Thank you that's great to hear! This career I'm in has been awesome and it's like a brotherhood we know how dangerous it can be so when we share information with each other we grow safer and we get bigger. The kind word you just shared is payment enough. Take care!
Great video Brother. I like how you made your own hitch cord. I like using a 24” because the end product is so compact and the Michoacán in general is such a reliable knot. My parents are also from Michoacán so that’s why I’m biased towards using this knot. Lol 😂 props brother and keep them coming🤙🏼✌️
Ohhh... Now , I know Michiocan knot ... I know a few Michiocan people who lives near by me and I always thought about mastering this. Because of it's name . Simple and Great . I like it. 👍👌
My go to with a rope wrench. I do 5 wraps and spin it 180 degrees from how you run it. It seems to make it easier to pull slack after it’s been loaded and is more consistent. I like it better than a VT because there is very little sit back. Don’t forget you can also twist the legs of the Prusik to find the perfect grab.
Excelente video amigo Bino , gracias por enseñar sus conocimientos con nosotros , se ve muy cómodo ese nudo para trabajar , intentaré usarlo , Jajaj 😅 , saludos desde 🫵🏻😎🇨🇱
When I use it for my setup I use a 24" cord. After I tie the Michoacan I rotate it 180 degrees (to its opposite side) and then connect it. I found this setup works best for my SRT system.
Great channel man. I've learned a lot from you. You've got to be super strong, man. I'm 6' and 210lb and after a few hours of climbing, my shoulders and back are shot. I'm sure there's technique involved, too, but damn is this a work out.
Thank you I'm glad to hear that. True technique makes a big differnce. Strenth does help I'm 5'- 6" and 240 lbs lugging that load can make you strong. After a while you get used it and won't be so hard on your body. Take care!
Bino, I’m newer to climbing and I have a buddy who has been playing around with one of my spare harness. My buddy is about your build, what saddle/harness do you like. He is currently looking at trying to figure out what he wants to buy. Really enjoy your videos and insight. Thanks for any help. Keep up the videos!!!
Hey Bino H, Quick shout-out and a question: Thank you for all the informative and very well done coverage of so many tree-related topics. You are an excellent instructor and I feel very confident adapting your shared experience and advice in my climbing efforts. Question: Michoacan is my new favorite hitch (thank you), tho I'm getting rope twist when descending on my Blue Moon-- any suggestions? Thank you
Thank you, One of my ropes 1/2" true blue would twist on me while decending. What would do is use my other hand to keep it straight when I would decend.
I'm not sure what you are asking on the first question, are you asking about diameter or distance of line. The second question you can use it with out a carabiner but it does not work very well it turns it into a two hand operation.
Hi Bino, I would like to know if "Knute" or "Knut" Hitch, is as good as the one you show us here. I will appreciate you comments about my question. Thank you for your informative videos.
Yes it is as good as the Michocan but it is more your choice on the way it feels to you. I also made a video on the Knut where I talk about my feeling on it. I f you haven't seen it you should check it out. It may give you more insight on it. Take care!
Hey Bino what harness are you using??? Can u do a harness video?? In the market for a new harness and have a few picked but I really like the harness you use!!! Really like the three separate attachments points!!!
@@BinoH thank u for getting back to me Bino. That helps out a lot!! I watch all your videos and I must have missed that one. I'll go back and check thank you again Bino!!!
Hi Bino. I've never climbed before. going to try soon. I have some rope eye to eye prusik and a pulley coming. I see you have a lot of different hitch videos. Are climbers supposed to know all the hitches? Are different hitches better for different ropes? Or is the idea once you find a hitch you like just stick with it? I plan to go 'low and slow' as you say. no more than 15 feet off the ground. Thanks for all your content.
It's a good idea to learn the Blakes hitch or the Taught Line hitch and when you get to prusik cords find the one you like most. Also when it comes to prusik cords figure out the length you like. You're welcome be safe. Take care!
@@BinoH Thanks Bino. Just got my rope today and played in the basement. Got the blake's hitch going and then I did this Michoacan. They both worked surprisingly well. I think I underestimated the force required to shimmy up a rope though. boy that's a workout. Might play around with the Distel and schwabisch now.
@@brandonswan9247 Bino taught me the Michoacon after I was using the Blake's doing MRS. I now have 2 systems I trust that r proven. The Blake's on a 5 foot split-tail which is an open system. My other climbing line I use the DMM Hitchclimber Eccentric with a 5 wrap Michoacon. The split-tail system involves only 1 carabiner with the Blake's on the split-tail to my right. I then attach the tail end of my split-tail to a prusik that I have on my left side. Self tending all the way up & all I do is pull from the right & the system makes it easy to ascend very nicely up the 🌳. I do need to lengthen my adjustable bridge when I'm using the Hitchclimber. It's hard to beat the ease of use with both but if the bridge is too short on the Hitchclimber you ascend about 6" less on every pull going up. Take care & be safe.
I always thought prostate chords had to had sewn eyes. But I see that you did a knot. I didn't know you could do that. Where do you get prussik cord like that? Can you buy it on Amazon? Cuz I assume that's way more economical?
Hello, yes you can use termination knots on Prusik cords. You can buy the cord in spools but you might not save too much money if you buy enough for one because may need about five inches for each knot. I wouldn't buy from amazon. It would be better to buy from an Arborist supply near you.
I'm 240 and I use 4 wraps with a 24" cord and it's very dependable. If I use a 30" cord I use 5 wraps because if I use 4 it's not as grippy for me. I feel like the cord length has a lot to do with it. Also the diameter type of cords and even the way a person handles the rope.
I can't figure out why you would need 2 additional wraps with a 30" cord. Obviously there is something going on here that I'm missing. Logic tells me more wrap equals more surface friction. If 3 wraps with a 24" cord holds then how does 3 wraps with a 30" slip?
@@BinoH What was the length before the fisherman termination knots? Also do you know a good place to get the cord and what would I ask for? Most places are expensive and if you don't know what to ask for it's bucks down the drain. Thanks for your vid's greatly appreciated and educational.
@@BinoH So better always carries second prusik will be necessary. As a many years arborist, what do you think of the advantages using Wrench rope & prusik. Is is because the prusik friction gives the climber more feeling of control? Sometimes we don’t need that kind of “smooth”on hardware , isn’t? Thx mate
It is nice to have mechanical hitches but never forget the climbing hitches in case of an emergency. It's a good idea if you're using SRS with a Basal anchor to have another backup SRS system with you unless someone nearby can send you something.@@五月爸爸在澳洲
