How to Tie Your Own CRAPPIE FISHING JIGS Quick and Easy!

A custom-tied hair jig can at times be the best bet for crappie fishing. Tying your own jig is not hard, and it allows for endless amounts of customization that you can’t always get from retail. You can match materials to the type of water you fish and make the perfect jig for your fishing situations.
Wired2Fish's Jason Sealock spends time pouring heads and tying his own skirts for bass lures but also spends a good deal of the winter now tying up crappie jigs. In this video, Sealock walks through the materials he likes to tie simple but fish-catching hair jigs for crappie.

A quality jighead is an important starting point. Jason really likes the VMC Moon Eye Jig, which features a premium painted head with large eyes and a quality hook with enough gap for receiving materials along the shank. He creates custom jigs by combining a few hackle feathers, some flashabou, and chenille for body mass. It's pretty easy to fill up a box with these excellent little jigs in a variety of colors for every crappie fishing situation.

Excellent demo! Thanks for sharing! I've got a boat load of jigs and also work at a fly shop. We have all the same Wapsi materials and flash you have shown. Going to tie some crappie jigs up and, if this winter ever ends up here in Northern MN, I will try them out when the ice goes out. Thank you!

I find lure making really interesting, I want to start making and selling soft plastics and hand tied jigs, like a small business.....but I don’t think you can make a living off of it.....what’s your take on that?

Sir your amazing I mean I want to start doing my on jigs and I have watch a lot of videos on how to make your on jigs but you made it simple. Do you have your own channel or more jig making videos? I would love to fish with some of your hand made jigs do you ever sell any? I have three kids and me we fish a lot but last summer we had all of are fishing stuff stolen from us. I mean i was heartbroken for my kids I mean take my stuff but dont mess with my kids. But I would love to see more of your videos and also were would be like a good place to like buy your first kit from? This is my own channel. ;-) You can get most of the stuff you need at Barlows. Just a vice to hold the hook, a thread bobbin, people like a whip finisher. Then it's just feathers, thread, and Check out SK Crappie he has some great tutorials on tying crappie jigs. Most of what I used in these jigs is up in the description.
