Fantastic video - thank you - just what I needed to work on. I am far too lenient with people's treatment of me and the 'nicer' I am the worse I get treated. Nice meaning easy going and understanding when others let me down or behave badly. I am not comfortable at confronting others. Time to change this and command respect by being honest so that everyone knows where they stand - including me! Lots of homework to do!

Excellent realization. Remember you don't have to be mean or overly confrontational. You're just not going to let people walk on you.

I liked the tonality of this video. It was calming and empowering. What I really like about your videos is that you provide specific actions to take. I am not very assertive and tend to react to other people who catch me off guard in a sort of pandering way. Even if I'm wrong, I have noticed that I react by completely disregarding my feelings and almost kissing ass to the other person to not be mad at me. It's gross and I've made a conscientious effort to become aware of it, and work on boundaries. After the gym tonight, I can't wait to get out a pen and paper and start really researching my beliefs on this. I don't think I truly understood where to start. I've stopped dating in order to fully gain clarity on what I want, who I am, etc. My relationships have been a mess. And I only realized...maybe...a month ago...that it all starts with me. I'm the common denominator in all my interpersonal relationships. :) Thanks again! Your videos are like FREE COACHING SESSIONS (MUHWAHHAA)) And I wasn't going to comment on EVERY SINGLE VIDEO...but I'm reading "Wild Succulent Woman" by SARK...and she wouldn't give a shit about being a pain...so neither am I :):)

Comment as much as you like! Glad you're putting these practices and techniques to work. Yes, I'm giving away a lot of useful content away and it's a compliment that you're making good use of it. Thank you. Remember to not just write these things out. Say them. Hear yourself say it. Try it on. How does it feel? Make changes if you need to and keep saying it until it feels right.
@joymizzoni4782

So do I practice saying them out loud similar to doing affirmations? Or in front of a mirror? What would you suggest? And would you suggest a daily practice of this? It is interesting, its like practicing in private who we want to become in public. I guess this is how we fundamentally change. I always think of the concept that the catapillar never makes it out of the cocoon alive. :) Btw, I seriously had to google characteristics of a healthy relationships. My criteria for how people treat me has been very very narrow. Seems like a hella important part of our lives that maybe I should put some thought into!
@DamonCart
@DamonCart 7 лет назад
This is definitely different than affirmations. It's about saying the words and feeling them. This is who you already are not who you aspire to be. This is about practicing communicating that to others. You can do it in front of a mirror to give yourself the awareness of what others will see, but it's not necessary. I would say practice it until you know it and feel it. If doubt creeps in, practice some more. Most people don't know what they want and that includes how they want to be treated. They just know it when they're not treated well. Most people focus more on what they don't want than what they do want. But we can change that.

Even with the calming and tonality of voice, there are people in my everyday life who will think of this statement as condescending of my part, because they think, historically, that they are allowed to raise their voice at me and I just sit there listening and when I want to speak... my voice does not get heard. It's a pain to deal with, and I cannot stand confrontation, even, as I said, I try speaking in a calm tone. Regardless, I like your advice.
@DamonCart
@DamonCart 4 года назад
Try reframing confrontation as an opportunity to connect with someone, to understand and to be understood. Have a vision beyond the confrontation of how you would like the interaction to evolve and go for that.

So I have a doubt here , if someone treat me without respect I simply ignore them and I voluntarily decrease my affinity to communicate with that person again. What's your thought on this?

Been following your page for some time now, very good quality videos. I've read multiple books on NLP and am taking as much knowledge in as possible for a career in coaching. My question would be, who do or have you mentored after or look to for inspiration? (Aside from the originals, Brandler and Grinder.)
@DamonCart
@DamonCart 7 лет назад
Good question and thank you for the compliment. Bruce Lee is a huge inspiration for me and has been since I was a kid. Writers Henry Miller and Hunter S. Thompson also inspire me. Right now I'm collaborating with Dr. Matt, the guy in my last two videos and this has been quite inspiring. Certain activities inspire me. Travel and self-discovery through writing and teaching are very inspiring.
@amunra6868
@amunra6868 7 лет назад
NLP Gym Of course, it is no problem. I believe working with Dr. Matt may be one of the best things you can get involved with. Highly intellectual individual from what I've gathered. It's very important to have a excellent mentor, how did you come to such a opportunity? I've realized it's important to have a circle of people who have the same goals and aspirations as yourself and it not be a "echo chamber" all the way through. There's a few things I wouldn't mind discussing with you if you were to have the time, is there any way I can contact you via email or Facebook?
@DamonCart
@DamonCart 7 лет назад
How did I meet Dr. Matt and start collaborating with him? We met at a hypnosis training and we both quickly realized we had a lot in common. I also quickly realized that he was the most highly skilled person in the room even more so than the teacher so I bombarded him with questions. Instead of running away from me he happily answered everything and we hit it off as friends and we realized we could probably do something working together that we couldn't do not working together. @DamonCart
@DamonCart 4 года назад
The devil is in the details. It all depends on the situation. In general though, if someone is treating you a certain way that you don't like, don't give them the response they want until they change how they treat you. Make sure you first tell them though that how they're treating you is not okay and give them instruction on how to treat you. If they don't, like I mentioned, don't give them the response they want until they treat you the way you want.

What do you do if someone treats you friendly for a time & later they just ignore you when they see you? I have some "friends" that have done that & when I see them in a social environment, I feel their behavior towards me is disrespectful. However, I haven't figured out how to deal with it or what the root cause of such behavior is.
@lumiere5772
@lumiere5772 6 лет назад
shitmandood - I'm not the expert here, just answering because I see nobody answered you in 7 mos. Maybe your problem has resolved by now? Certain sense of humor turns some people off? Though shitmandood is funny to you and some, it tells others that you don't value you, by being disrespectful to yourself. People tend to avoid those that they don't want to continue to associate with. In the beginning they didn't really knew you and maybe latter something in your personality or behavior turned them off? You could guess all kinds of things, but the only way to know is to ask one of those friends to be honest and tell you why they ignore you, and what about you turns them off, this way you can try to improve yourself if that is what you choose. On the other hand if you are happy with the way you are, just be yourself and find those who can appreciate and accept you for who you are, we can't please everyone all of the time. Hope I didn't offend you, just trying to help, best regards!

Why do seem to attract people who try and compete or show their importance to me, usually it's from petty people who compete or care about seemingly inconsequential things, the only issue is that it becomes fucking annoying after some time.
@DamonCart
@DamonCart 7 лет назад
There's no way I can answer that for you. However, you may want to look inside yourself and become aware of what you're projecting externally. Take one of those situations and rewind the video in your mind and find the intent you expressed just before someone got competitive with you.

Damon, is it too late to respond to someone after 5 weeks? She would remember the "incident". Or does the reply have to be immediate? I guess if immediate reply is needed, at least from now on, I'm ready. Thanks.
@DamonCart
@DamonCart 7 лет назад
Without knowing the situation it's hard to say. However, if whatever happened still bothers you and you need to find peace with it and you feel like going to the person and telling them that whatever they did was not okay, go for it. It might serve two purposes; letting them know that what they did wasn't okay and that you won't tolerate being treated like that in the future and you can make peace with it so you're no longer burdened memory. You might even start the conversation with "I know this happened over a month ago but I need to get this off my chest..."
@alluneedislove8
@alluneedislove8 7 лет назад
I decided to not say anything; I will be ready for the next time. I've noticed it's harder to set boundaries that stick with siblings. Is that the historical issue you mentioned? (I mean, siblings grow up together and fall back onto old childlike ways and I take responsibility for that old childish behavior and have tried to change that dynamic in my interactions with siblings). With one sister I've noticed a cycle of abuse and manipulation for all 5 of us siblings and she is the master manipulator and perpetuator of this cycle: either you agree with her and are "in" and treated nicely or you disagree with her and you are "out" and mistreated. Over the years, I've set boundaries with her, but she continues to overstep. I will continue to calmly state my statement like you suggest. You have shown me that it's important to clearly state what is OK and is not OK. I feel she feels my internal shift already. "It is not ok for you to respond to me via text or any form of communication in a rude manner no matter what the circumstances. I expect you to reply to me with respect and consideration." Thank you, Damon.
@DamonCart
@DamonCart 7 лет назад
Yes with siblings and parents it can be very hard no matter how old you are to break the patterns of mistreatment. It's so important though to do this. Otherwise they will continue to categorize you in their minds the way they want you to be and their behavior toward you will reflect that. When you know where your boundaries are and you start telling them when they've overstepped, it will surprise them. Sometimes they'll get angry, but in most cases I've dealt with standing up to bullies they back down and while they may test the boundary again they're likely not to.

In your opinion a raised voice is disrespectful. Best to voice that first in the most not threating way possible. Otherwise, not only will it seem disrespectful to them it will be viewed as a cheap way of attempting to control the conversation and threating in a seemingly condescending way. lol As someone who has no "indoor voice" I have spent most of my life trying not to seem threatening when I speak. Do not assume and make an ass out of yourself. I also have ways I am comfortable with conversation that may be different.
@DamonCart
@DamonCart 7 лет назад
I use a raised voice as an example in this video, which is when a person is raising their voice to intimidate or try to push you to get what they want. That's different than a person who just speaks loudly.

About the titles though 'how to train people to treat you well' do you think that is a admirable tag ? I came across it and it made me comment. BTW trained by Tad James. In the 'game for seven years. I know your are just trying to make a living and I will bow out now. Best of luck
@KTYewTube
@KTYewTube 2 года назад
@@alanballsshinpad3069 I think the tag is fine. I mean yes the word "train" well sounds bad. That's what you do with a dog. If you told someone "I'm training you to treat me well" it would be offensive. But I get what he actually means. He's trying to emphasize it's on the victim to take control of the situation and create boundaries. And the actual content is really good. I think it gives great advice for someone who is struggling with someone who mistreats them. You help yourself put into words the way you don't want to be treated and own that and become aware of it. Then you go in prepared not only with how you don't want to be treated but with what alternative behavior is better. I think it's a fantastic strategy and I'm glad he made this video. So far as a moneymaking scam, where is the scam? He's giving good advice that actually helps people, and people are getting it for free. It's a win for everyone and I for one much appreciated the video. If you were actually scammed it would be helpful to share some more details. Because otherwise you're kind of making empty statements without any more detail to explain yourself. It might help someone else avoid a bad situation if you shared.
