I have personally experienced the transformative benefits of consistently using OAV treatments observing things like: greater honey bee population as a result of lower (manageable levels of Varroa), greater honey production, less Varroa spread virus and their affects and more successful splits.
This vaporizer comes pre-programmed to 230 degrees cutoff. There's no need to adjust any settings and it's ready out-of-the-box.
After loading the crystals and inserting the nozzle into the hive, the vaporizer will cool down from the crystals, slowly heating back up to 230 degrees. Once there, you can move on to the next hive.

Great video. A couple of exceptions. Your temperature is in Celsius. You used illegal OA, not Api-Bioxal or EZ-OX, which have been approved by the EPA and are free of toxic heavy metals. EZ-OX cost is only 23 cents for a double deep hive treatment of 4 grams. (Legally) 1/2 teaspoon is 2 grams. Your single deeps would be 13 cents to treat. I think your 6 treatments 4 days apart regimen is a great idea. I personally do 5 over 21 days in August. Actually the best OAV treatment possible is done in winter when there is little to no brood. Maybe in Ga. you don't see broodless colonies.(?). Right before Christmas, on a warm day when bees are flying (broke cluster) I treat them. You kill all of the mites (Ohio). Your video has been one of the best I have watched for using a vaporizer. If I had your address I would send you a package of EZ-OX.

Nice demo on using the vaporizer. Particularly the safety component.

Thank you so much for the video very interesting. I was wondering will it be affecting brood in my package of acid it says it can damage some brood so that many treatments in the summertime brood is in full production . I am worried to kill too many bees as a larva.

I understand your concerns. So far, I have never seen my bees cut any brood after having treated with OAV. 🐝🐝

Interesting. Different than our BC government suggests. What part of the USA do you live? 🇨🇦

I live in north Georgia which is the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. I’d love to see your mite control method. What’s it called?

The best video yet on using this method. I plan on getting the InstantVap for next season, I’m a backyard beekeeper. My “plan” to grow to 6-8 hives. Your thoughts on this vaporizer?

I think that’s a great goal to have 6-8 hives. This brand vaporizer is my favorite so far. They have a new model out now though, same design but instead of 110V it takes DeWalt and Milwaukee Li batteries.

I bought one of the battery-powered Instavaps last summer. Works great! 30-45secs per colony (3-4gs OA per double deep) . Love it. I used it thousands of times treating hundreds of hives multiple times last fall and then in Nov-Dec when colonies were broodless here in Ontario. I HIGHLY recommend using 9AH batteries (12AH batteries available but even move expensive and heavier and perhaps an issue space-wise, depending on how high your hives are off the ground) for those doing any more than 10 hives at a time. Depending on outdoor temps, it can take up to 2x9AH batteries to treat a beeyard w 35-45 colonies.

@beekeepingislove Oh man! That’s sweet!! I’ve wondered about that model. I appreciate the extra information about the battery situation too. That’s seriously helpful. 🐝🐝

Happy to contribute. Great channel. I'll be sharing a bunch of your videos with some high school co-op students who are helping in my operation this semester. Very clear and concise work - keep it up!@@thehivedoctor13 One other comment on OAV: I find that the mask with the organic acid specific repirator cartridges is not enough. Little bits if vapour have leaked in on occasion and burnt my throat. I am going to start shaving in the fall when I do a lot of OAV to improve the seal around my chin (I have a short beard like you), and I am going to invest in the full face mask ventilator as well.

@beekeepingislove Thats awesome! I really appreciate you sharing and for your insight. I think I need new respirator filters this year. Maybe I can find some better ones for my model respirator. 🐝🐝

What do you think of AO fogging,cant afford 500 dollar vaporizer
@thehivedoctor13
@thehivedoctor13 4 месяца назад
Hey! I’ve never used a fogger for doing an OAV treatment so I’m not sure. Have you considered the wand-style OAV? On Amazon they’re between $35-80. 🐝

The Lorobbe 110v is about half that price and is a great vaporizer.
