You do a really great job with your videos! They help me to learn and find a way forward which can be a challenge. Dealing with various fungus issues like brown patch as an example. Keep up the terrific work!
Polo, you are getting it done my friend! I saw another tutorial, and they turned the shears or cutters over to address the curve parts. I was dumbfounded. I never knew to turn the clippers over and use the curved part of the tool to trim a curved area on the bush. No one ever taught me that, much love pal!
I always love your videos. I have an evergreen bush that is 6' tall. I am 5'6". I don't know how to trim it. It is also about 6' across. No easy feat. If you come across a bush like that, I hope you can do a video. I am afraid to cut it off from the top because I have seen some that just look horrible. It needs to be about 4' or less. Ugh.
Seems like you're gonna need a ladder. You would still use the same method as far as trimming. You can cut it down to size on one trimming or multiple trimmings. I would take it down on one trimming to the size that you want. Just take your time and always step back and look at it before cutting deeper into the bush.
If it's overgrown, cut it to the level or height that you normally have it at. Just make sure that you don't do this in the middle of the summer when it's extremely hot outside
What if from the top down about five inches is green but rest isn’t, just bare branches & its top heavy, should I trim/cut it down to see if new growth will happen or just remove it?
If there is new growth beneath it and it looks like it's filling in, just feed it and be patient. If there isn't any new growth below it, it'll be a matter of time before the shrub dies. One way that you can check and see is breaking off a small branch on the inside of the shrub. If it's green on the inside of the branch, it still has life in it. If you break it and it's totally dry on the inside of that branch, it's dead.Let it warm up a little bit and let things start growing. If you don't see any new growth, pull it up.
