Hi, this video shows you how to update the wifi on your Amazon Echo so if you have moved house or changed your Internet service provider then hopefully you will find it useful. Many thanks Vince
I agree ... clear and understandable and who knew it would take a number of "steps" to change the wifi password? Haven't done it yet but this video will really help when I do.
I had been trying to connect my Echo to my new ISP's network for 3 days without success! Your video enabled me complete the switch in less than an hour - that says it all. Brilliant job Vince - can't thank you enough...
The frustration was high! I've been trying to connect to my Echo to Wi-Fi for about an hour to no avail.... UNTIL THIS VIDEO TUTORIAL!!! Thank you so much.
That was the perfect explanation tutorial for reconnecting my Alexa Echo to my wifi network. I'm a former school teacher and I will give you an A+ for content and video. Especially loved your pronunciation of "router". Thanks so much for making this video.
Thanks so much for this easy tutorial to help me. So many others are so complicated and not explained so well but yours was a great help. Thanks again :)
Thank you for this information, tec support wanted $120.00 us to help me. not being computer savy i was able to reconnect echo with your help. thank you! great video!!
I've had a similar problem today due to having a new router installed. I was getting to the point where it was saying to connect the 'Amazon - ABC' network and return to the app but....nothing happened (3:25 mark in the above vid). No further options appearing even after Alexa has said everything is connected. Basically the Alexa app was not giving me a list of networks to connect to. This is not covered in this video and it took me about two hours to figure it out so I thought I'd share it as I couldn't find anywhere online with this scenario. There are two possible solutions. Each one might solve the problem on its own or you may need to do both in combination - 1) Easiest solution is (if you can) install the Alexa app on a different phone. You might think that uninstalling and reinstalling the app is the same thing as this but I did that several times and I still had the problem. It was only after I installed the app on my work mobile that it worked. That worked the first time this happened however today it didn't give me any option on either phone the app was installed so...... 2) Amazon saves your Wi-Fi info (you have to opt into this but you might have done it previously without realising) and it seems the Echo will try and reconnect using this saved info (not much good if you have a new router). Go online to your Amazon account and under "Accounts & Lists" select "Manage your Content and Devices" > Preferences > Scroll down to "Saved Wi-Fi Passwords" > Delete! Should hopefully then work
The 2nd part, in 2022, helped me get my discontinued Amazon Tap back up and running after a gateway upgrade/replacement. Thank you kindly for adding this to the conversation.
Pls somebody want to sell this very ist generation Alexa for me. In this time arround that we now have 5th generations of Alexa, is it ok to buy this ist generation Alexa and does it have good sound and basic features? Pls help
Indeed it *does* make a difference if you select 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz since nearly all 'smart' wifi devices work on 2.4Ghz but not all work on 5Ghz. 2.4Ghz is the safer bet.
OK, my daughter did it using her old iphone Alexa app. Worked just like the video. Recommendation, don't frustrate yourself trying to use a buggy new Alexa app. Get someone with an old phone and maybe it will work....
When I click on update wifi, the app gets stuck in the loading screen. I've tried force stop, uninstall, restarting my phone in all kinds of combinations ..nothing works .. it's very frustrating
My app is different, when I go onto settings it comes up with things like Music, Alexa account, notifications, traffic, sports, lists, about and it doesn't come up with things like set up please help!?
Hi I'm trying to update my two Echo Dots to my new Broandband router. My alexa app settings page doesn't look like yours (Android OS running Amazon Alexa app version 2.2.208782.0). There is a "Wi-Fi Network" with a "Change" link, but when I select that, it just bombs out to the home screen again. Any idea what's going wrong?
I have been doing this for hours!! It is so stupid terrible user experience because i do everything but after connecting to my echo's network and i go back to the alexa aapp nothing happens!!!!
Alexa says "setup mode, now go back to Alexa app, follow instructions". There are no instructions, only the temperature. This has got to be the worst app I have ever attempted. This video looked promising, but my Alexa app on my new Galaxy Note 9 doesn't have the same screens and functionality. There is no "update WIFI".
so what If we dont have a cell phone? its incredibly frustrating trying to set up devices for the elderly, they dont have smart phones full of crap apps, and want these devices so they can listen to music and ask questions. we have one that we cant get to work now because they moved to a new place, and cant remember the password to their amazon account! grrr
Doesnt work for me it says change your wifi and then i do it and then my dot goes red and says it cant connect to the internet edit: i went on the computer but it wont restet....
if this wont work try to factory reset the device (note if you will reset the device everything will be deleted.) if this wont work try to call amazon customer service and ask for help
@@miraclegonzalesgerdtman9525 but what about the likes of me who dont own that sort of phone, we old people are discriminated, Im not buying another phone just please a company
lost power yesterday, and normally when power comes back everyrhing comes back as before the power was lost. this time it did not?? I give up!! none of this crap on these videos are helping.
yes but see the guy is using what they call a smartphone. my ISP had to change our router yesterday, I changed all of our seven devices entering whole new virgin name and a new longer passcode. but Alexa refused to connect, i last installed her in 2014. She tried to get me connected through the pc, it shows my now defunt old 2.4 connection, but when pressed to update network settings , nothing happened???, the amazon assistant worked very hard and was disappointed the pc setup dont allow change of connection, but at my age i dont need or want to smart phone now, I have a basic pay u go for emergencies only every thing else is done by tablets and pc. I only used alexa for amazon prime delivery notifications, nothing more, so really, not going to miss it. [ity companys still dont realize only 50% of elderly user like me want a smartphone any more. :(
