This is a very easy bolt on mod that should take minutes to install. This mod should add a nice bit of horse power and torque because of increased airflow and better cooling capabilities.

Good video. When I installed my Cp-e TMIC it was rattling with the engine running. I had to trim the front of the shroud which was contacting the TMIC, installed 2 felt pads at the back of the shroud and placed washers under the screws in the shroud.That fixed the rattle issue. By the way, I own a 2012 Mazdaspeed 3.

Hey!! We got it directly from CPE. Type in "CPE Mazdaspeed3" in google and it should pop up as your first result. There is definitly a big increase in power versus the old intercooler. I did some datalogging and VD on my AccessPort and I'm showing an increase of 7 hp and 15 lbft torque.

Another great thing about these better flowing top mounts is less stress on the turbo doing its job. If you have a K04 that’s gonna help out it’s life

Nice work, try to keep video uploading at a steady rate for example one every two weeks or month etc. This way we have some thing to look forward to rather then a surprise upload. Also good information maybe list the additional suggestions that should be done after installation, like get tune don't drive off with out etc. You guys have the potential to make this a great channel keep working at it!

Hey Nicolai, we're definitely planning on making the videos more frequent and improving the quality with every upload. We're hoping to do 2 videos a week but at the moment we're having a hard time finding time as we all have full time jobs and do this as a side project. Great video! Love what you got going on with your speed3. I have a 2012 Mazdaspeed 3, black and red theme, that I'm modifying myself. This helps and can't wait to install my upgraded intercooler. Again great video.

Can you give any update on how this intercooler has been for you since installing it? How has it performed through winter and summer? Im looking into this and want to know if this intercooler is good or if the more expensive ETS TMIC would be a better choice.

Either or. An upgraded top mount intercooler will increase flow and cooling capacity for both. Both will see a noticeable gain with this upgrade. Thanks for watching!!

Quick question, I just bought an ETS TMIC and there aren't really any OTS maps from Cobb that include TMIC. Can I just run FMIC associated maps and gain some of the benefit of running the TM? Thanks!!!! Great vid btw...

Fuong Wah no, not really. I've got one on a basically stock car. Only mods I have are intake and cat back exhaust. I am using a hypertech sport tuner though

Hey Ally one question, Do I need a tune with this upgrade? I have a cat-back and a Cobb intake as well but I'm wondering if I will need to retune or does it bolt right on? Also, how much did you pay for yours? Thanks Ally!

Hi Andy, Are you tuned with a Cobb Access Port or another tuning device? If you're planning on running this on a stock tune you are not going to see any benefits, you will probably run worse. You definitely need a different tune to see a benefit. If you don't already have one buy a Cobb Access Port and use one of their OTS maps. The difference is night and day and they’re very safe. Access Ports have a lot of different maps for different mods so you can flash the best one that suits your needs. Also if I were you I would look into fuel pump internals, this platform requires them to modify your car safely. Let me know if you have other questions. This particular intercooler was purchased from CPE for $350.

everythingdiy I am not tuned with an AccessPort and I believe the previous owner of my car either gave it a professional tune after installing the Magnaflow exhaust and the Cobb Intake or gave it some sort of performance chip. I do like the AccessPort, but if I can get it professionally tuned I believe that would be best to keep all the parts working together. I believe I do have the stock HPFP internals but I have heard rumors that there are people running decent mods with the stock fuel pump. I will have to see who can install what around my area but I'm not street racer but I do do some pulls every once and a while so I don't think I'll blow it up anytime soon, I hope. Thank you! Andrew

I'd be very interested to see dyno figures for before and after. A few extra HP at the wheels isn't really that noticeable but a few litres/gallons less in fuel consumption is. Most car makers are conservative with turbo boost to save engine wear and fuel emissions. Pushing more air into your engine will most likely cause more fuel to burn and thus give more power and torque. But is that really what you want especially when getting your car through MOT inspection is becoming more and more difficult? Couple that with the added cost of repairing an engine after you have over fueled it.

dyno will only show heat soak really and normally shows it quite well. when the car is running it will force more air through aero into the engine bay. less noticeable HP gain as opposed to more stable power delivery regardless of your ambient air temperatures on any day driving. this is a great summer time mod...

Front mount is much better but requires a bit of plumbing and possibly cutting to make space

Got a question for you, nothing to do with this video but with the car itself. I bought a 2013 Mazdaspeed3 a month ago, and I'm happy with it. I noticed that if you go hard on the throttle on 1st gear and then switch to second gear aggressively there's a loud sound coming from the engine compartment. That scared the hell out of me, I thought I fucked up the car, but after a full visual inspection I couldn't find any visible damages. I believe could had been a motor Mount, but it's that common on the stock speed3 due to it's torque. Had that ever happened to you? And if so, what did you do? ... should I have it check by the dealership under warranty. I would really appreciate your advise on this matter. Thanks.

Yes it's happened to me. It's your motor hitting the firewall. Unfortunately it's normal in this car. These cars come with a weak rear motor mount designed for comfort rather than stability, so you do get pretty violent engine movement when driving aggressively. Best solution is to upgrade the rear motor mount. I will do a video for you explaining all this and give some good product recommendations and installation guides, stay tuned.

The RMM is from Cp-e. The stage 2 replaces the mounting bracket and the mount.

normally an upgraded TMIC only supplies colder air to the turbo inlet which is simply going to allow your sensors to do the work. with some large intercoolers the volume requires a larger turbo to keep it pressurized or else you lose boost which is why we are doing this in the first place. the CorkSport TMIC is a straight bolt on and i think the CPe they use here is too but i am not 100% sure. Normally HPFP not required but due to higher and more regular fuel demands on the system due to denser / colder air being used regularly its always a good idea to get HPFP as your first mod...

Not yet, All we've done are virtual dyno's with our Access Port logs and Virtual Dyno app set to a CF of 1.01 which can be pretty close to real world numbers. The dyno's are consistently showing 280 WHP and 325-330 ft lbs of torque. We're in the process of getting a professional tune from Stratified so we expect this number to jump up closer to 300 WHP once we're finished. When we're done tuning we will do a real dyno and post some real numbers. Thanks for watching!

just make sure you plug those SAE #s in there with a smoothing:3 and your good to go on VD....you plan on running E85 or Meth? get an extra 20-30hp to play with'

Ms3 Raceing timeline All settings are dialed in perfect and smoothing is always on 3 or higher. No plans for E as there are no stations around my area (closest one is an hour away). We've thought about meth but more so for the cooling and cleaning rather than performance. We pretty happy as is for now. The ultimate plan for this car is an AWD conversion with a Mazdaspeed6 drivetrain, along side a built motor and big turbo but we'll see what happens as it comes.

everythingdiy do you happen to remember if there was any Hp gained from your Tmic on VD? Im setting my Ms3 up to go 11sec 1/4 with the stock k04 turbo and just trying to compare real world gains, although I know a TMIC is more of an efficiency mod, just curious if you saw any more power' thx

Ms3 Raceing timeline It's more of a power mod in my opinion. The stock intercooler is really restrictive. After upgrading we saw a big jump in horsepower and torque. On Virtual Dyno we saw something like 15 WHP and 20 ft lbs of torque gain. Of course this is on an AP tune. 11 second quarter mile on a stock K04 is a big goal. I know 2 people who have done it but they're on built motors or big turbos putting down close or more than 500 WHP. I think 12's is more realistic with a good tune, mods and drag slicks. Not trying to kill your spirits but the K04 can only go so far. Anyway good luck if you do it post some videos, I would love to see your car in action.

yea our speed 3 are terrible in high rpm. they get stinky rich. a simple subtraction of like 5-10 percent of fuel and you can get lots of power.

$400 regular price. The black Friday to cyber Monday sale had them down to $335. My shipping was $50 - 70 since I don't like in the US, so I used the sale to bring the price down from around $450 to 406. Was worth it.
