Alright, seems people are still struggling wifh this? I do have plans to remake this guide and even split it up so as to have a guide just for playing with an interface and another guide for streaming/recording whilst using an interface. I've got no ETA for that currently as I have other commitments in life that take priority, but rest assured it'll be up in the near future. I'll update this comment with a link to it when its done. I do apologise that I've been unable to offer support as freely as I used to or reply to comments, but such is life when you're working full time, have a family and battling depression 🤷♂️ Thankfully, I've come out the otherside of that in a better place, hence an updated guide inbound in the near future. You're an angel. Just went through this guide after gifting my buddy an interface to play Rocksmith. You killed it! I had to do a bit of finicking to find the right input (Channel 1 on a Komplete Audio 2 if anyone's desperate) but now we're up and jamming!
Hey mate, I hope you are still doing better and appreciate the time you take on setting up these tutorials. I'd love to see how to set it up so it can be played multiplayer, be it with the interface or interface + realtone cable, with this tutorial I manage to play through the interface but it kills my realtone.
Extremely rare I leave comments but this man earned it. Taking the time to personally help anyone on his discord with technical issues they're having getting this nightmare of a game working with interfaces and OBS. Highly recommended.
For anyone having issues getting this to work my solution was to install the Windows 7/8 driver. I have a Scarlett 2i4 interface which when having the Windows 10/11 driver installed, rocksmith was picking up that I'm using a "Thunder bolt" driver which I'm not. I tried to force the "Focusrite USB ASIO" driver in the RS_ASIO .ini file but this wouldn't work. Simply put - Install the windows 7/8 focusrite driver (yes even if you're on w10 / w11). Once the older driver was installed everything just worked as Rocksmith was picking up the Focusrite USB ASIO driver. Rocksmith sounds great, and I was able to get the buffer down to 48 with really no detectable latency when playing.

really good video that does what the title says, but for someone who talks about sound this video is REALLY mastered at a really low sound output level I'm normally at around 40% i need to crank my sound to 100% to hear what you are saying, but thanks for the video really good tutorial
i have never, EVER been more frustrated with a piece of software in my life. When i open rocksmith, it takes control of my mic until close rocksmith and i take change my mic settings in windows to something else and back again. ive changed exclusivity mode, ive turned off mic in every INI and setting i could find. If i turn off exclusivity in game, mic works, but game wont load, says Sound device error. Then i cant get audio to obs, ive been at this for a week lol. Looking forward to the updated video! I mostly wanted to record RockSmith for my music and all of the amps and effects in RockSmith are better than any virtual amp programs I've been using and now, I can experiment with a lot more options and have a better over all sound for my origin music thanks to you.

Is there any possible ways to get the game audio going through the virtual cable? I've tried to make it from "App volume and device preferences" settings by selecting Rocksmith's audio going to virtual cable, but nothing happens in voicemeeter.
how do i get my a2 on voice meter to show the options yours does? mine does not show voice meter as an option even though i have them all enabled at 48000 and set to default device?
When I tried without Voicemeeter my audio dies when I launch Rocksmith. Then when I tried Voicemeeter I can't choose MME Voicemeeter for A2 in Banana. It's not even showing up
No worries, glad this tutorial was handy! Here's how to do that! Go back into RSMods, "Enable Fast Load" under the "Set And Forget Mods" section. You can also set it to sign into the last used profile under Mod settings, Automation and chose your profile at the bottom right. :)
Thank you so much for this resolution. It solved a whole bunch of problems I was initially having but now my only issues is I have no sound from my guitar pickups? I used input 1 which is what I setup for but no sound from guitar. Rocksmith 2014 is fine? Any ideas please?
Ok switched everything back to use input 2 but when I open Rocksmith and try to play I get the following : It sounds like your microphone is unplugged. Reconnect your microphone to continue"? Rocksmith 2014 works but my guitar isn't playing through it???

I remember using my audio interface with Rocksmith like a year ago and it booted up without issue, but I reinstalled it to jump back in today and it was giving me that unrecognized audio input error. After this though, works like a charm. Also made me realize that not only does it have bass sections for songs but it also just has an entire bass lesson set/mode? Which is also in the input mode? Was sweet to see.
both of these methods add quite a bit of latency, is there really no method that lets you capture game audio without latency that makes it impossible to play?
RSModsInstaller refuses to find my Rocksmith 2014 folder no matter how many times I select it in the directory. I do have it installed on a separate drive, for space purposes, but I still don't understand why it won't install. I even tried running as administrator

Thanks! I had to mess around a bit but got it working eventually. I disabled the onboard audio in device manager and rebooted and then it worked. Not sure exactly what the issue was but it is working so I won't ask questions. I then got the input working with the real tone cable. My goal was to set it up so I could play Rocksmith without changing my audio device settings every time.
@@DeathlySin Well it did give me the tools to set up the game how I needed to to enjoy it. At one point I had another program open that was fighting for control over the audio interface so that might have been the reason for some of my trouble.
my problem is that rocksmith doesnt recognize any output device, my output device is called maudio mobile pre mkII. it's the audio interface wich is connected to a pair of speakers.
I keep having an issue where everything seems like its work but there is no sound being picked up by rock smith, if i strum really hard it will pick up the slightest noise but that it. do you know what settin i need to change to fix this?
So the modinstaller.... do I absolutely have to be on the latest firmware? I have CDLC and had to use the beta code to revert so I could use them again. With the modinstaller fix this issue?
no matter what I do, the audio is still late. finally it's not choppy at least, but no way in hell can I play if the audio is off by like .5 seconds always. I've done the ingame adjustments with audio latency on every number to no avail :( on PC using clarett pre 2
after using the mod exe now my game now instantly crashes on startup - that was because i was using the beta branch of the game. now reinstalled from scratch did i neither have input nor output
I have a M-Vave Tank B pedal, installed ASIO4ALL, I have a Microphone (USB-Audio) input and I wanna use my pc speakers as output, but it doesn't seem to recognize the output anymore after I paste RSAudio dll on Rocksmith folder :S. It says that ERROR AUDIO INITIALIZATION. I did as the guy showed in the video, clicked the Asio4All, disabled the thing, but it says error and there's no audio from the game.
I don't see my interface in the RS ARIO settings. Read the troubleshooting. My interface is running at 48000 Hz with 16-bit DVD quality in the control panel and it is the default device and I still don't see it in input1 or input2. I have no idea what's wrong and how to fix it.
I feel like none of these fixes work for the cracked version. Forget the steam version . Getting asios to run with Ableton and Rocksmith are such massive headaches.
I'm getting a whistling that hurts my ears when I play a custom song. The audio switches and when I strum is get the whistle I need help. I also had to turn on (use WASAPI input for my focusrite USB Interface even when it says for recording. I need help with both the problems
So I got an interface to record stuff and try Rocksmith as well, and it's a bitch to setup. I eventually went down the road of ASIO, but I didn't know about the DLL Modifier - it's awesome and that method with Voicemeeter is interesting to divide and control sound better. Do you use DI box? Do you have any noise if you have volume knob up and don't touch the strings?
Hey, no I don't use a DI box. I literally just use the method in this video with my Scarlett Solo 3rd gen. If I crank the gain knob up to max on the interface, yes I get noise. But that's not what you want to do anyway, you'd be clipping hard doing so. My gain always shows green on my interface, that's ideally what you want. At worst case, slightly in the yellow under a heavy attack when playing. Then calibrate in game properly and you won't have noise in game when not touching the strings. Since I have it that way, I don't get noise when not touching the strings and my guitar still turned up. To calibrate properly, when it tells you to mute the strings, quickly mute them and then move your hand away from the strings. Hope this helps.
@@DeathlySin Interesting. Do you use PAD on interface? I have a HSS strat, so while bridge hum gets enough volume itself and less noise, my neck single is insanely noisy. Yeah, I'm tuning the sound gain here and there, but while in other software the sound is great (especially with noise gate pedal), Rocksmith is noisy. Something tells me this hint about calibration is probably what I'm missing. I'll try it tomorrow and see how it works. You're doing god's work here with this video. I appreciate it.

@@DeathlySin It's also called - Passive Attenuation Device, not sure if all interfaces use this, but it's usually a button on channel to reduce the input if it's too hot (-10db or something like that). Nevermind then. Cheers.
@@TheEtherea All I know is there’s a button labeled Instrument that’s engaged on my interface but it makes 0 difference, but that could well be what you’re referring to.
I get an error with RS Mods which says "It looks like your profile can't be found. We are disabling the backup profile mod bla bla bla". The game works, audio works, but just a tiny portion of my songs I have appear in the game. How can I fix that? Edit: Btw your discord invite link has expired

Hey man, so I did this with my old pc and it worked, and when I got my new one, this works for the most part, it’s just that my game sometimes will have a crackling sound. Any idea if it should lower or higher the sample rate?
That sounds more buffer size than sample rate. Sample rate needs to be 48000Hz 16bit DVD quality. Try adjusting the buffer size in RS Mods and everywhere else like voicemeeter etc if you're using it.
any idea how to fix the real grainy noise when trying to use this. Im using a 3rd gen scarlet like u as well. same settings and everything. not sure what could be causing this real bad sound. Any ideas would be great. thanks
Hi Do you by any chance know how to get Rocksmith 2014 MacOS to work with Scarlett4i4? My interface detects audio, my Mac detects audio and the game detects my interface but when calibrating, it doesn't pick up any sound. Any help or ideas would be appreciated
Hey there, i know this is an older video and you said that you're planning to update but have to ask the question because this is the only video listed on the profile. I have an M-Audio M-Track Plus. I have been trying this method to get it set up as I don't see the interface in the game natively. I followed the directions to the T and after i install the mods program it crashes the game. I'm not sure what's going on here... it's the mods app that's doing it i know though. I checked to verify that i have the most up to date version and it is still not working. So just to clarify, i have installed everything and followed all the instructions all the way up to the point where i open rocksmith after doing all the Mods app stuff and it crashes. I don't need voicemeter as I can't sing and play at the same time. The only thing i can think of is that i have FL Studio but i don't have it running at the same time. I also have ASIO4ALL installed for FL Studio to be able to pick up my M-Track in FL Studio. But like i said, none of that is running at the same time as the game or the mods app so i'm not sure why it would be a problem. I guess the last question would be is have you abandoned this because of th P2W model of Rocksmith+? I don't want to pay for a game that I already own and 2014 was great the way it was... i just haven't played in a long time and wanted to use my interface on the game.

I can't get an audio output. Not sure what I'm doing wrong, I'm looking at what everyone else is doing and adjusting the settings. I'm using a PreSonus USB 96 interface, any help is appreciated.
Thanks for this Tutorial. It fixed my problem of Rocksmith crashing after a white screen with logo because of incompatibility with Focusrite. Would be great if I could route the output of the game directly to Focusrite output 5+6. This would give me the chance to route it back with focusrite hardware to grab the audio with OBS without Voicemeeter. Unfortunately if I try to set the output to focusrite and change the base channel the game wont recognize the sound.
What settings are you using for your 2i2? I'm getting nowhere! Turning off low latency has helped but I still get pretty constant choppy audio as the game loads up.
Before I found this video, I tried others here on RU-vid to no avail BUT I found some helpful information on what settings to use with a Focusrite interface. Once I had that setup correct and then used RS ASIO and RS MODE, like in this video, the game worked perfectly. If you have a PC, the problem is probably related to the Focusrite settings. You have to choose in those settings: "Sample rate" at 48,000 and "Buffer size" at 96. And also, in the sound control panel of your PC, you have to change the configuration of your devices, in "advanced options" for both recording and playback, and there you choose the options: 24 bit, 48000 Hz (for playback, in Focusrite USB audio). Y: Channel 1, 24-bit, 48000 Hz (for recording, in Focusrite Analog USB audio 1 + 2) respectively.
