WHAT IS A PELLET GRILL?
Pellet grills are outdoor cookers that combine elements of smokers, charcoal - gas grills, and ovens. They use 100% all natural hardwood pellets as the fuel source that allows Pit Boss® Pellet Grills to provide direct or indirect heat.
HOW DO PELLET GRILLS WORK?
Wood pellets are poured into a storage container called a hopper. The pellets are then fed into a cooking chamber by an auger that is powered by electricity. Thru combustion, the wood pellets ignite, heating the cooking chamber. Air is then brought in by intake fans. Heat and smoke are then dispersed throughout the cooking area.
Much like an oven, pellet grills give you precise temperature control digitally or with a dial, usually ranging from 180°F to 500°F. So, you can cook “low and slow” or searing hot.
Most pellet grills have a meat probe that can connect with the control board to monitor the internal temperature of the meat. Pit Boss® Grills have a patented SearZone™ plate which allows for indirect or direct heat and 8 different cooking options.
HOW ARE THE PELLETS MADE?
Wood pellets are exclusive to pellet grills. Pit Boss® hardwood pellets are made from 100% all-natural hardwood that is dried and ground into saw dust. The dust is then pressurized at extreme heat to create the compact pellets that are coated and held together with the wood’s natural lignin. Wood pellets are also known as the easiest fuel to use. They produce less than 1% of ash, so an entire 40lb bag of pellets will only turn into ½ cup of ash, which makes clean up a breeze. They also provide immense flavor without needing to think about babysitting the air to fuel ratio like with wood chips or chunks.
PELLET GRILL VS SMOKER
While pellet grills give you the option to smoke foods, they are different from traditional smokers in certain ways. Mainly, since pellet grills use an automated fuel and air delivery system, it is much easier to control temperatures than a traditional smoker. You might have wanted to avoid smoking food due to how difficult it can be to manage the fuel source over a long cook that can span many hours. Pellet grills can eliminate this frustrating task, making the smoking process a virtually “set it and forget it” one. Now you can enjoy the flavor benefits of smoking without needing to be an experienced BBQ pitmaster
Pellet grills also give you the convenience of combining many different cooking options into one unit. A traditional smoker only smokes, so you would have to buy a separate unit if you wanted to grill, bake, or roast your food.
PIT BOSS PELLET GRILLS
If you’re looking for the Biggest, Hottest, and Heaviest pellet grill on the market that is backed by a 5-year warranty, then look no further. A Pit Boss Grill is your best bet. Our grills come standard with our patented SearZone™ technology that offers the direct heat you need for that perfect sear. Or, turn your grill on smoke and you can go low and slow for fall off the bone brisket all while you set it and forget it.

Would you recommend putting foil on top of the heat deflector for an easier clean up?

I have a same model in this video and having a issue with the put boss getting to temp. I see a prime hold prime 3 second hold and prime 5 second hold option in settings. Problem is there's no prime button and holding power just shuts the system off. ALSO I have cleaned out the Fire box and noticed it was holding alot of grease. I am reassembling the grill now to see if the grease was the issue CAN ANYONE tell me how to prime this grills auger? Because if it wasn't the Firebox grease I'm down to take apart the auger for a clog or I need to prime the auger but without a prime button I can't figure out how to

Hey I have I think a good question. Can one use pellets for house heating or pellet heater can one use these pellets in a pellet grill for cooking. Heater pellets are a lot cheaper.

Do you have to have any mods for the 1150 for temperature regulating? I’ve seen some people talking about the temp probe might need a deflector to maintain correct temps.
@BeginnersBBQ
@BeginnersBBQ 3 месяца назад
Yes. I would buy a heat deflector that goes over the fire pot. That should help with the temps.

@@BeginnersBBQ they say its for the temp probe that sometimes people have issues with the gap between the probe and the deflector plate. Not sure if they have fixed that issue or not. I’m looking to get an 1150 within the next couple weeks. Just wondering if that mod is still needed.

Thank you for this video. I bought my 1150 today and I'm trying to learn as much as possible. It seems like the temp control overshoots a lot. Is there any way to edit the PID controls?
@BeginnersBBQ
@BeginnersBBQ 4 месяца назад
I noticed it overshoots at the beginning but then it holds its temp. Did you update the firm ware? It happens when you connect your phone to the grill
@agdon92
@agdon92 4 месяца назад
@@BeginnersBBQ Thank you for your reply. Great channel! It updated the firmware as soon as I connected it. I thought it was the firmware that made it start acting crazy. I'm sure it will smooth out. I saw another video and bought the metal piece to go at the top of the burn chamber to keep the heat in. Thanks again! I can't wait to try some of your recipes.
