hey guys,
this is a how-to video on how to use ALCLAD lacquer metal paints for airbrush.
ALCLAD paints are already airbrushed ready and they are only airbrush paints.
to order to use these paints.
you first have to prime the part you are going to paint. and then you can use them
be sure to keep the coats very light because these paints are very thin and they can run on you very easily.
be sure to keep your airbrush at least 6 inches from the part you are spring.
and be sure to keep your airbrush moving at all times! & also be sure to prime every single part you are painting with these paints!
airbrush settings:
#1 air pressure: 10 to 15 psi
#2 needle size:. 0.4mm & 0 bar
paint dry time
these paints dry really fast
they are touched dry in the less than 5 minutes.
but do not handle the parts at least 1 hour of dry time!
I will provide a couple links where you can find these paints and you can get them from!!

I just used the Alclad Chrome and OMG what a gorgeous job it did. Alclad is 100% my favorite chrome paint by far!! I also bought Alclad White Aluminum. I will be trying that next. Thanks for the tutorial

Their metals are great. Just be careful with some of their paints as they are labeled as lacquer but they're actually enamels, which take a lot longer to fully dry, even if they feel dry to the touch. It can cause problem with top coats, as I just found out. Their gloss black base and gloss "Klear Kote" are both enamels. The klear takes many weeks to fully dry and seems like it's impossible to wet sand and polish.. the Aqua Gloss clear is great, though.

Great tutorial Dylan!!! I love Alclad as well. I've recently found their Aqua Clear so I don't have much experience with that yet. I'll be watching

You're modeling is incredible I just found you. You talk about primer, and Tamiya being one of them. White or gray does it matter? I do use all cloud primer black., So would you use gray?

I wish they would make them in smaller bottles so they wouldn't charge as much.

Can I use a gloss black Rust-Oleum paint as a base with these?

I built a 1965 1/144 Revell kit of a DC-8 airliner as a Alclad experiment by 1st priming the wings & engines with tamiya acrylic flat black masking then priming different areas with semi gloss black masking then spraying the majority of areas in gloss black then demasked & sprayed with 2 hits of Alclad polished aluminium. The different panels all have a different natural shade of aluminium look just like on a real aircraft.

I'm new to airbrushing, what bottle of rustoleum primer did you use and how did you pour it in to the airbrush?. Are these paints and primers good for both metal and plastic models? Also, alclad primer (black) dried and clogged my airbrush, how much time do I have to use the primer before cleaning the airbrush?

I don't have a 0,4mm needle. Should I use 0,3mm or 0,5mm? Thanks great video
@hhaste
@hhaste 3 месяца назад
I'd recommend the 0.3 as they are very thin and you want to spray it super light, for the best mirrored finish, if you're going for a chrome/polished metal look.

The main thing I find difficult, is to get a decent glossy black undercoat for the Alclad Chrome. At best, the chrome turns out like Gun Metal. So I'm experimenting with Bare Metal / Household Kitchen Foil on a build, but not finding that particularly easy either...
