How to Use an Incentive Spirometer or Volume Exerciser  

This brings me back. I had 2 consecutive open hearts due to endocarditis and when I woke up from the second one the pneumonia was so bad I was intubated for 2 days under the "twilight" anastesia. When I woke up and the tube was removed it took all my strength to get to the first line on that spirometer. Also had thoracentesis done on both lungs. Since then I've successfully rebounded with consistent cardio to make sure my heart and lungs stay strong

Could you tell me what number it would be a good level for good lungs ?

how do you clean it?

I had one after surgery but they made me throw it away because of hygiene or something

All that, and not a word about how to use it. Why?
