I cannot believe how intuitive all the user interactions are. I will never get over how, to slice a clip, you simply slice the clip - and the output changes depending on which direction you swipe! So much control squished into such a usable interface. keep it up, I'm loving animating with this.

I started learning animation with Callipeg. Coming from Procreate as digital drawing app I loved that it is as easy in handling because all the big animation programs back them scared me with their complicated setting. It was not uncommon that 2D artists I read the reviews from said you first have to invest a lot of time in learning how to use the most basic tools in those programs before you can even start making your first shots. Callipeg was only a few updates old but it already gave off the vibe of an art program that was first and foremost made by artists and then given to programmers. For me it felt like the perfect balance between hobby artist and professional animation. So Callipeg it was! Since then I kept slowly improving my skills in 2D animation and it really feels like this app is growing with my skills!

Aw heck yeah! I was just trying to figure out the best way to do multiple shots in the same scene the other day. Just one long shot? Multiple files in the same folder? This helps skip that indecision at least and stay organized. (Also the drag-and-drop animation for the shot colors is really cute.) So many updates and refinements, like being able to easily access the onion skin opacities, and the info button (thanks!). I just wanna say it makes a world of difference when the software developer regularly uses their own software. Callipeg is easily the best purchase I've made for iPad and keeps getting better.

Great update with the improved Studio interface ... and drawing on the Transformation layer... and the improved Brushes ! Callipeg is a robust animation application which just keeps getting better. The Callipeg development team have accomplished so much in just a few years of dedicated work. (would that some other software developers could be so efficient in updating and adding new features in a timely manner !) Well done.

Good job guys! I think the new studio interface is my favourite part of the update. It always felt kind of empty and as the little perfectionist I am I am so happy to be able to organise and colour code my projects now. In addition to that I was delighted when I saw you added the feature to select and adjust the length of two frames in two different layers at the same time. You most likely won’t remember, but I once wrote you guys about it and and got a very kind response from a guy called Benjamin (apparently a Co-Creator) who told me that it was not available yet but that you were working on it. (He even took the time to give me some additional tips and made a small clip where he showed me how to apply them.) So you can imagine how great it was to see how you applied user feedback. Most likely not just because of my e-mail, but you clearly seem to know what potential users could want in the next updates. So thank you so much for your good work. Keep it up! :)

Absolutely Subscumptious! These new features are game changers. I love the unique style of the interface and the new functions it has. I also love the other new features within the shots. Thank you, Callipeg, For giving us such a wonderful app for traditional animators to work with. I've also seen some comments on adding a symbol library, as well as rigging and other features seen on a different app called Toonsquid. Some of these features are for vector-based software like Adobe Animate CC, but I'm sure that with the studying/knowledge of these apps and the power of teamwork, you guys might even make it possible to integrate these features into this fantastic app. Kudos to you guys 👌😘💕

Being able to edit images in a transformation layer is a great change especially with adapting to other layers ,works really well using the fill. I think this has some really creative uses.

Lovely update! Having this issue since I updated though where tapping the undo button clears all of my strokes on the canvas. Redoing after doesn't restore my strokes. Same action happens when I undo using my two fingers O. O not sure if bug or if I fiddled with something accidentally. edit: it's not affecting my old shots, but any new shots I make are having this issue. OId shots that are duplicated also seem to work, using this as my workaround XD

I have recently gotten TVpaint and had seen this app can easily transfer animations from my iPad to TVpaint and that so awesome! I can animate on the go without having to worry about transfer quality. However, I’m not entirely sure I understand the push neighbor thing? I understand that it can compress gaps between frames but I’m just not entirely sure what the purpose is?

Hi really like this new layout. Is there any issue with the brushes though after the update? They all seem the same. I used to use the pencil which had a nice gritty texture but looks really smooth now.

Hello, we are now using the GPU for the brushes and it needed some changes. But we are going to have a look and add some textures to the brushes ! :)

I am struggling with something: Is yhere a way I can use floodfill in a way that cleanly fills a drawing? As in, where I dont have to color up to the edges of every line Ive already drawn? Also, when I copy/paste or move an illustration, is there a way to stop the pixelation so I dont have to redraw over them to clean them back up?

Hello, thank you for your feedback and your patience. For the color fills, you can keep the pencil on the screen when you tap to fill and go from left to right to adjust the threshold. For the copy/paste pixelation, when working with pixels, scaling up an element will cause a loss in quality. If you select "Low quality" in the transformation tool there will be no anti-aliasing and it will be less "blurry" because the way pixels will be interpolated will be different from "High quality" with anti-aliasing. Here is a video showing the difference: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6o1PgslQL_4.html Also, I personally prefer to have the "Zoom Quality Threshold" to a low value to see the sharp pixels when zooming (this option is only for the zoom in Callipeg, not in your exported video). But anyway, scaling something up can never keep the exact same quality in pixel-based software. Hi. I’ve been using the app for almost 4 yrs now. There’s an issue with the undo and redo arrow: not only if I try to undo a single stroke it deletes the whole drawing but I also can not redo it. It’s now impossible for me to animate and I’m very stressed. Maybe I didn’t see this new feature (and if that’s the case I would like to undo it) or maybe it’s a bug. Do you have any advice?

Hello, the only way to move something outside of the canvas is by using transformation layer. So you can draw your background, add it to a transformation layer then scale it.

Hi, you can use transformation layers to move your drawings, but this is not a puppet tool.

Hello, are you using Callipeg 2.1.2? You can draw on drawing layers included in active transformation layers, not on transformation layers themselves which are not made to be drawn on.

Hello, this is an iPad Pro M2 12.9 inches with 256GB of storage. But you can use Callipeg on any iPad using iPadOS14 or more, and an Apple Pencil is required to draw.

Hello, Callipeg is currently only compatible with the official Apple Pencil. Are you using another pencil? You can go to the Settings within a shot, in the Canvas tab, enable the Finger Drawing and see if your third-party stylus can draw (it will depend on the technology of the stylus you have). Hello, by default a shot is 24 frames long. You can set this duration when creating a shot. And when in a shot, you can long touch on the red marker and drag it on the timeline to extend the duration of the play and export section.
