How to use downstream/chemical injector for pressure washing
I get a lot of people asking how to use a downstream/chemical injector to apply chemicals while pressure washing, so instead of replying to everyone I just made a video explaining it!
My name is Joe. I own a pressure washing business based in Jacksonville, Florida. I started my business in March of 2023. This vid is exactly what I need. I just started a car detailing business and I have been wanting to use my cleaning skills on my home to see if I can get into soft washing as well. Joe, an excellent video with first rate graphics. I am getting ready to wash my house and driveway and after viewing tons of videos on RU-vid I still have questions. It appears that most of the commercial pressure wash guys on RU-vid give a general summary of the process, but then suggest that for more details you buy their training course. You understand that what we really need is the basics (using injector, mixing SH, etc.) and proceed to deliver. Many thanks.

How mush sufactent (soap) do you add to one gallon of SH? Do you recommend any certain brand of suffactent?

Wow great vid, but is this the same if I were to fill up a 5 gallon bucket with straight sh, then use an x jet as well ???? thank you....

Thank you. For the video.. So there is no need to mix the chemical once you put it in a 5 gallon bucket. Is that correct

Depends on the injector. The one I got pulls 20% chemical, 80% water. So if you put 12% SH into a bucket, you will pull 2.4%…I use 10.5% SH, so I pull 2.1%.

I’m only learning so what fittings do I need to insert the downstream injector either before or after the gun?

Downstream injector is connected to the outlet side of your pump. Either a male or female 3/8” quick connect depending on how yours is set up.

Which type of injector should I get for a 3.5 GPM machine? Should i get two that way I can pull two different percents when needed?

Honestly, I’m not an expert in the injectors. Look up ‘powerful improvements’ on RU-vid. He has a couple videos detailing them.

No. The only options are directly into the outlet side of the pump or you can put it somewhere in the hose. For example. You can put a 25ft, 50ft, or 100ft hose into the machine, then plug the injector into the hose and then put another hose on the other end, then your gun. Look up the Xjet. That would be more what you are talking about. It hookes up on the tip of your gun with a suction hose attached to it. You then carry a bucket/container around when you’re washing that is filled with chemcial. It actually pulls a higher ratio for chemical. The injector is limited to around a 1% concentration. (Plus or minus 0.5% depending on the SH you get, and what injector you get)

Can you connect a downstream injector to a pump that has a built-in one or is that potentially dangerous?

I’ve done it before, it didn’t make a difference honestly. Not that I know of. Maybe try plugging the existing one up.
