Just a quickie about the hive app - mainly aimed at combicert customers but hopefully others will find it useful - ignore Jim Davidson (although he is pretty awesome to be fair!) www.combicert.co.uk
Useful video Pete. Just to correct you on something though. You say you get up at 6.40am so set the heating to start at 6. But the scheduled time you choose is in fact the time the house gets up to temperature. So your boiler will probably be kicking in at around 5.30. so for efficiency you would be better setting the start time to 6.40
Pete, useful video, thanks for a simple explanation. I'm looking to buy either the Nest or Hive for a holiday home to drop the temperature when not rented. I'm leaning towards the Hive as it seems simpler than the Nest and I don't need the Nest learning feature with it being a holiday home.
Great video. If I’m away from home, can I still turn the heating off from the app if I know I won’t be coming back so as not to have the heating on unnecessarily?
Could you do one where you have smart valves on different rooms - we can't seem to get it right, because of the way that the main heating impacts the choices you make on the smart valves. Really confusing.
I have just bought one for a cylinder boiler. Never wired any boiler stuff before but I have done switches plug sockets ext. I was just going to copy wiring from one to the other prograammer. I know you have to isolate the temp controller.
Without seeing it it’d be impossible for me to say. Some have an identical backplate you can just swap over - some don’t. ‘If in doubt, call someone out’ Ports one, three and four usually... if you’re determined to do it you’ll see the 3 port valve move over depending on demand.... but naturally - it’s on you.
