Since this is a very basic tutorial I'm not going to be finiky, but there are few things to keep in mind when pitching with Melodyne. First of all, if you don't use it as a bridge, you should always import the mix as well to check the tuning against it, specially if you work with acoustic tracks. Then, always check modulation and vibrato because many times Melo identifies a tone variation as a single note which needs to be split and treated separately. Also, watch out for consonants like s' specially at the beginning of a word, these should be split before pitching otherwise they will sound awkward.

Thanks for sharing your experience. As a beginner, I found your tutorial very helpful. I like to work in groups of notes for faster workflow, since some notes snap to the nearest pitch level. For instance, a note identified in IPN as F4 being -40ct flat may actually be intended as E4. Highlighting the section then pressing Alt+Spacebar lets me audit my work and spare me from discovering the issue after at the end of the task.

Thank you so much for the video! I've only used melodyne a few times and I was manually dragging the notes to where I thought they should be tuned.. However watching this made me realize it's way easier and more efficient to use the 'Cents' parameter to do that!

Very nice job of Demonstrating. I just upgraded to the Studio version. This video is just what I wanted to see. I was wondering is it better to use ARA, and use Melodyne like a plugin, or do it the way you did and export your audio to the stand alone version of Melodyne, and then drop the edited version back into your project. Any opinion on that? Thanks again! Melodyne is truly a vast piece of technology! And one that is well-worth learning! Thx!

At 3:37, you said you won’t tune notes that sound fine to you, but are off by a large margin. Why not correct way out of tune notes, at least partially? Also, at 4:07, where you are going to pitch correct notes, why not correct to spot on, 0 cents, rather than seemingly randomly to some very small number of cents off? I’m confused.

can someone please help me! I would like to know what EXACTLY this program is and where to buy, I've looked it up but there are a bunch of differnt packages and types, but this looks very intuitive and i just want to make sure i buy EXACTLY what this is!?

I bought mine as a digital download from Sweetwater. I got the cheapest version and I THINK it's going to do what I need. But you can always upgrade for the difference in price. So, start with essentials, and pay as you grow ....

Can someone pleas tell me how to melodyne a vocal that changes BPM. I have a track that jumps up BPM and as soon as the track hits that point, melodyne stops transferring the vocal.

You can assign a tempo in the metronome field at upper right. If your project contains any tempo variations, like a rall. or accel. then you will need to synchronize the the tracks in a multi-track project.

Be aware that this is the full "Studio" version. If you happen to have the "Essentials" version, watch a different tutorial or pay for the upgrade.

Try the separator tool and you should tune against the track and not in solo. :)

go to " Edit" ........ "Select All" .............. all the notes turn red colored ........ double click any note anywhere while all of them are selected and BAM !!!! BLAMO !!!!........ they all line up to ( zero cents) where they need to be .... no need to screw around with each little note .......... you are all welcome :)

Thank you! Although, this is a great tool, but to use it to "fix" your wrong pitch hits, to sound professional, makes your normal and good real singing bad, because it spoils you and you stop working to sing better and that affects your live performances and fake emulations show easily and that can be even more embarrassing. The idea for modern tools is to use them creatively and to get better production quality with ease of access to options, but personally, I think you're using it wrong, if you're going to sing whatever and then fix it on post, you keep losing quality every time you skip something to fix later Sometimes, off notes or wrong notes can also be used creatively with different chords or modes, to match it, to give your sound an eerie feel, if it requires it. If you can't fix it that way, please do another take.

Ok..I just read the title of this vid and only wanted to leave the comment that you should never should use a software to fix pitch. That's like saying Iam going to follow da Vinci and use paint-by-numbers. Come on, when did it become a craft than an art? Here is an exercise: whistle your progression whenever you can. It will train your ear...and take singing lessons.

They've killed music with this. People are so used to hearing a 'perfectly levelled song' now that if you don't send them your vocals in that way, they'd call you pitchy. Take this example, this girl can't even sing a basic song and after this trick, she and many more like her can become the next big thing.

Some people just want to make music lmao. Not everyone wants to be an American Idol. Paying for singing lessons is cool for whoever can afford that and have the time for it, but some people just want to record an EP that sounds good and that people can enjoy without a hundred extra steps. Like, if I'm gonna buy singing lessons, I might as well learn a few instruments, study music theory, learn to shoot and edit videos, set up tour dates- no. Some people just want to make music. It's that simple.
