Dave, you can use normal splitting to define your edge loops manually by using hard edges as the guide for remesher, it basically lets you determine the edges by mark sharp. Hope that makes sense mate
@@3DJay429 Probably the most useful and easiest option, I know you probably didn't include it in the tutorial because it's obvious what it does, but it would have been good to demo it anyway as it's the feature most hard surface modellers would cum in their pants over.
Definitely one of the best addons i've ever used. It helped me fix so many meshes already and I'm still within the trial period. %100 going to buy it when my trial runs out
This was the best thing I have bought! It’s amazing how well it does! A couple of times I’ve had issues with certain points on an object but the time to manually correct those areas was far less spent than having to retopologize manually
Thank you so much for doing this! I almost had a meltdown because I couldn't understand the tool but this is the only video that could answer my questions!
im looking something similair to zRemesher from Zbrush, theire Remesh is phantastic and make awesome result, in blender it is so bad - i will watch this video to hope someone did good job, lets do :D
Thanks A LOT for this awesome tutorial !!! I'm considering buying this addon so that I will not have so much to do with retopology ! A very powerful tool, isn't it ?
Thanks for the feedback Peter I will defantly make sure the next video i do ill try make my font bigger thanks again I never thought it would be an issue, I think its because I have a 34 inch monitor with a high res
@@3DJay429 Probably not an issue for young lads with perfect eyesight but for many artists our eyesight is often compromise for too many hours watching the screen and years doing it! In blender it is very easy to quickly raise the UI scale and it doesn't take much of a scale often 1.10 is OK for most people.
In the last example, with the sorta saddle shapes, the carved out section on the top ended up with a lot more quads than it had before. Is that intended or desireable?
That depends mate, the amount of quads it has added is not such a big deal as it is relevant to the quad count you set before hand. if you want you can go through and dissolve faces or you can use the density painter in the previous example to give that section a lower quad density, or you could just keep it super simple and choose a lower quad count. Hope this helps mate ? let me know what you think thanks for the comment
Good to know but it doesn't work well, it overpowers me whole parts if I pain them instead of increasing the details like in the video, not yet find why.
hey mate how you doing! i did not get the bit about colors do the colors define the supporting loops asin red means no loops and yellow means 2 / green 3 ?
Sorry Vibhu, i didn't see this comment until now..the red area will mean there is more geo in that part, and the blue will mean there is less geo.. hope this makes sense?
Hello. Great video. Lot of good tips. Use vertex colors does not seem to work on my characters head. I followed the video to a T and the red area get all deformed. ANy thoughts?
got a lot of trouble for remeshing my model ... I did the same thing as you for the face but it's terrible ... I try so many things during 2 days but nothing works. I Spent less time to make it manually lmao
Hello! Can I use quad remesher partially on model? I need to desimate part of model to keep details, because remesher drops it and i need to split my model to decimate and remesher parts
Hey dude, yea normally I would only use the subscription option 15.99 for 3 months for when and if i need to use the tool. you can use the native blender remesh options but no where near as good i think. This is one of those tools that save you so much time and hassle the 15.99 i pay is always worth it. I hope the blender team upgrade the native remesh to make it better, something like 3Ds Max version would be great =)
Ah zbrush is awesome and defo worth learning. like how it handles really high polys is so smooth compared to blender, but you are right it feels like everyday blender is getting better and better
great tutorial, but after i "remesh it" and have "use materials" checked i can't seem to see the materials on my model, just black, am i missing a step? any help would be appreicated
@@3DJay429 thank you for the reply, im still learning blender but i cant find the shading mode on the left, i can only see the differnt kinds of shading mode on the top right, i only see my original texutures before "re meshing". but thak you for the reply, i appreciate it
In the long run I find this addon useless, as the model I get from it always overlaps with the High Poly version in many places which causes lots of artifacts on baked normal map
so far so good. . .except, I can't get vertex color to work. When I switch to vertex pain, and try to apply the brush, nothing happens. I've double checked that I have the correct object selected and that vertex is checked instead of material in the viewport shading box. Any other thoughts would be appreciated.
I have incomplete but useful information. I gave up on the numbers and just vertex painted with red and cyan (000FFFF) - not blue. It’s definitely mapped to those colors. Also, separate by materials still works with the vertex option on, which I rely on. So I’m able to get what I need done. I think everything works but it does take some practice to get a feel. I recommend some quality time with various default primitives before going to town on your geometry so you don’t have to undo so often testing
Link doesnt work I also searched google even google link doesnt work what happened to this addon? Edit: I just used VPN and it works..Did they block some country? its annoying.
@@3DJay429 well everything works in UK :) I'm from Turkey thanks for the help btw.. I thought its a free addon. Also I found something in blender called quadriflow(something like that) maybe I should work with it.
@@furkancankaya2233 ah cool love turkey ! Yea you can use quadreflow or voxel remesher, if you go to sculpt panel press alt R then you can dynamicly change the res until you are happy then press ctrl r to Remesh!
Ah im sorry Pranav, i wish i could help you, maybe try install another version of blender and try there. also make sure drivers on computer are updated etc
But what's the point if i loose all of my texture , uv's and stuff?????? It make me loose tons a valuable time and NOBODY actually ever mention this, this is insane!!!!!
Yea actualy quad remesher automaticly duplicates the object and remeshes a NEW object. so your original object is still in the scene untouched! it will be hidden in the layers. So then you simple bake your oringial object to your new remeshed object. hope this helps.
Blender's own remesh feature is better. If your model has a lot of curves or small, deep creases, this will destroy it no matter what you do. So pretty much an expensive zip file. Thank fuck I didn't buy this.
Hey mate you can yes but its not really for that - Blender has its own version of dynamesh called Dynotopo Or Blender offers the Voxel Remesh tool - I would use these as dynamesh in blender then use quad remesher to bring remesh the mesh back down to a manageable size
