If you are on a budget, or just starting out, check out the Boss GT-1. It’s only around $220 and it has a ton of variations of every pedal type, amp types, cabinets, etc. So you can try out almost every type of pedal before you start investing tons of money in more expensive pedals.
I need videos like this, I usually just play with the knobs until it sounds like I want it. I don’t really know what I'm doing, half the time I kind of fail to get what I'm looking for but I've been getting better at it. Thanks for all the videos Justin, your lessons have had a big impact on my life. I love playing guitar!
I really like when you talk about your experiences and preferences, be it guitar, music or lufe in general... Like why you don't use that particular pedal... Love from India
I know you and your staff are quite busy as I am in my life's chosen career. However, it speaks volumes when I get a reply to a question. Thanks again for your help and I wish you many more successful days ahead!
Many thanks for the comment and the super thanks and supporting the channel. It means a lot. Cheers 😊 | Richard_close2u | JustinGuitar Official Guide & Approved Teacher www.justinguitar.com
Very Cool. Thankyou. Explained So well as always. I have an old 1980's Fender Sidekick 15R (Reverb) Amp that is still going strong, Magic little amp and best Reverb I have. Cheers
Love this. Thanks for this great video. Please do a deepdive into delay pedals both analog and digital and the pros and cons for each type. That would be great. 👏🙏😃
Loved this! I've never been sure what I'm doing with my amp. I just twiddle knobs really but today with Justin I learnt loads and had so much fun messing with the reverb. I'm not making the most of my amp so I'm very much looking forward to more of these lessons. "Magical unicorn fairy dust" - love it! That is exactly what Justin sprinkles in my life. 😁🎇
G'day Justin! Just wanted to drop a comment explaining a little more about the pre-delay setting found on reverb pedals/plug-ins. It's actually emulating the difference in time between a sound hitting the walls of a room, and the subsequent reflections reaching your ears. If you are in a large hall, the early reflections of the sound will take longer to reach your ears than if you were in a small room, thus creating the same "late bloom" effect that you would hear from the pre-delay setting. In short, the pre-delay setting is great for enhancing the illusion of "size". If you are trying to increase the "size" of your instrumental space with reverb, I would recommend playing with the pre-delay setting before extending the time or the "tail" of the reverb, you will likely find it creates a much more realistic effect! Hopefully this all makes sense, my expertise is in audio engineering - I'll leave the teaching to you, Justin! All the best mate.
At last the correct information I was looking for . As far as I know nobody as said the word hall or church reverb. That is wat I looking for . But I still dont know what is the difference between reverb and....echo. Must I look for a pedal with the specification of ECHO. Thank you Justin from a big 76j old fan. Grts Belgium Flanders
Ty for going in depth. Most don't cover these things properly. It's like when I was a kid. I would ask my Mom a question & she was a World Book Sales Person. So we had World Book Encyclopedias all my life. Every time I would ask her a question, she would always say. "Go Look It Up." This was long before the computer age we have now, but it forced me to figure out how to find answers to questions. Today we just ask Google. Google has become our new handheld Encyclopedias.
Hey Justin how are you doing question I have a acoustic electric guitar and a regular electric guitar can I use one reverb for both guitar played at different time
Hi Justin, are you in favor of limiting the use of effects in a studio recording for any given song so that when you perform live, it's easier to pull of the same sound? I like live performance with a little spice added no doubt. But, I also appreciate when musicians are able to duplicate the sound we hear on the radio or other source. I mean, isn't that why we go to a concert? To hear them play our favorite songs we heard on the radio or other? If you take the time to answer, know that it is appreciated very much! Thank you
In a studio, the dry signal is captured and effects are applied later on. If you record a "wet" signal (with effects applied) you can't tune down the effect anymore. Trying to match a similar sound live is of course desirable but often the chain of effects is a lot different for studio recordings. (more steps with subtle alterations). If you can record both dry as wet signal, always do! you can switch amps and effects later on on the dry signal. For live gigs, some simple effect settings are often enough. There is a lot to explore about this on the website! | Check: www.justinguitar.com/advanced_search?q=record to get an idea! | LievenDV | JustinGuitar Official Guide, Approved Teacher & Community Moderator
Now that was a lot of fun! I have a StompLab 1, which has all the effects on it. Funny but I haven't played around much with the Reverb, but now I'm going to play around with it. Has Spring, Room & Hall on it & can be adjusted for Time & Mix. You can also make up your own unique tone by mixing Reverb, Delay etc. Looking forward to more effects vids. Thanks Justin! You rock!
I use a reverb pedal called One Control Prussian Blue Reverb, which is both nice in size and price, and in sound too of course. One Control is a Japanese brand that collaborates with the Swedish designer Björn Juhl from BJF Electronics. It’s worth a try if you want to fiddle around with even more pedals than you already have on your pedalboard. I think you will be amazed by the pedals they are making together. Great lesson by the way, as always!
It's almost like you're in my head with this video, lol. I started your Beginner's course about a month ago after my buddy wanted to start learning guitar (I owned one but never played it cause I play bass primarily, and I didn't like the particular guitar I impulse-bought), so I ended up buying a strat to learn with him. Fast forward to this past week and I started messing around with effects plugins, and while I started kind of getting the idea of it, thanks to some other videos I've seen, this was a great video to help clarify some of the things I was discovering with these effects. Incredibly appreciate all the work you put in for us!
Very interesting justin. Look forward to ur video on chorus, flanger n phaser. As i understand these r more or less effects to thicken a sound. But cant quite figure out whats the difference n when or how exactly to use them. Thanks 🙋♂️
Informative video 👌🏻. Could you also make a video about setting the right eq for guitar when playing in a band? Would love to see you play in a rehearsel room with a drummer, bass and singer (and other instruments) and guiding us with the controls on the amp 🙏
I recently purchased the Mooer A7 Ambiance pedal and like you said with regard to reverb, really enjoy the many effects in the soundscape it offers. Most are probably over the top but also gives me the chance to experience ambient guitar a lot more, been following some Chords or Orion youtube clips to also get a better idea of this. Thanks for explaining it all. Bottom line, experiment and experiment till you get the sound and feel you want for the song, all the while getting more familiar with the various reverb sounds and effects. Much appreciated :)
Hey Justin your videos are excellent and a very educational I’m a relatively new guitar player and I’ve got a couple of pedals including reverb and I’ve just picked up digital delay could you recommend how to place the petals in the proper signal chain thanks
Super lesson - I am a newbie and bought a Yamaha amp with different effects and it came with no instructions or description of what the effects did so this type of lesson is just great for me. How to recreate what you hear is really difficult on an electric guitar and off putting. Well done Justin and thanks.
This is a great explanation of how the RV-6 works. I bought one of these to sound like the reverb on Boss Katana Mkii but found it was different. This is a great help. Thanks.
@@justinguitar thanks Justin. By the way LOVE your site and courses. Will be making a large donation or possibly even a monthly sub. Do you offer a $10 a month sub? And will the advanced 8 and 9 be online soon? Also will be buying at least one of your apps. Keep up the fantastic work. Brilliant content, extremely well taught and you seem like a top guy!!! Lots of love!
