Its been really hard learning how to utilize the functions of this Whirlpool oven ie, convection, air fryer, with NO instructions! Very frustrating. Had a Whirlpool Gold oven for >10 yrs and loved it. This one is going to take me a year to learn how to use it! Should have had an in-depth instruction manual!!
One bit of info I picked up from another video is to line the cookie sheet with foil then place a piece of parchment paper over it to lessen the smoke when you’re air frying. I think it should work…we’ll see.
Just got sent here by the QR code on the Kitchenaid ‘air fry quick reference guide’. Basically no instructions either & had to print the minimalist control guide from the website. TERRIBLE!!!!
Is it supposed to smoke when you’re preheating it for the first time ever on the air fryer mode I just received my delivery yesterday was trying use the air fryer but it started smoking so much I had to turn it off. Is this normal when it’s new does anybody know?
You have to bake-in your oven before the very first use. Means to heat up your oven to the max (500) and bake a pizza. Don’t eat it, throw it away. Ventilation is very important, turn your exhaust ON and keep any windows open for fresh air to enter. After 15 minutes, slightly open the oven door for that air to escape and ventilate your kitchen. Do this atleast twice, Your oven will be ready for use after this.
Yes, perfectly normal with any new oven. Before using a new oven to cook, you should remove all accessories. Then set your oven to the highest temperature it has, using a function that uses the entire oven, so not just grill. Let it heat up for about half an hour, then turn it off. Once cool enough, wipe the entire oven down with a wet, slightly soapy microfiber cloth, then use a dry microfiber cloth to dry it. This will remove the products put on them during manufacture. You should wash all accessories with a soapy microfiber cloth too and also dry them before use, don't put them in the dishwasher. The oven will kick out some fairly toxic fumes, so make sure you're well ventilated. You will also find it smells odd while cooking in it, even after cleaning, the first few times. 😉
It is normal, the technical team told me that is going to happen because the walls from the oven are covered with some kind of oil, he told me to turn on the oven without food for at least 20 min.
