The Cycles Approach is a speech therapy method typically used for children who are very difficult to understand and who have multiple speech or phonological errors. In this approach, we target one error or phonological process for a few weeks, then cycle to another (before they master the first one). This approach can lead to faster progress for children who struggle with a lot of different sounds.

Hi Carrie, thank you so much for making these videos! My kid has initial sound deletion issues and there isn't a whole lot of info on the internet related to this topic because it's rare. Your channel has been so helpful! Thank you!

Hi Carrie you’re amazing! I am a CF. I would love it if you can record a cycles approach therapy session with a real client. That would be so appreciative and great learning to actually see it all in action!

Hey there! I'm so glad you're enjoying the videos! Unfortunately, due to HIPAA privacy laws, it is too difficult for me to record sessions with actual clients. Playing around with my kids is about as good as it can get! Sorry!

Can we do cycles approach for Cleft palate population?
@CarrieClarkCCCSLP
@CarrieClarkCCCSLP 2 года назад
Absolutely! If they have multiple phonological processes that need to be addressed, you can definitely use this approach. As always, just keep really good data and if the client doesn't seem like they're improving with this approach, try something else!

Another CF with a question: what is "reading wordless"? This is such a good channel. Glad I found it! : )

Hello! I've never heard the term "reading wordless". Can you tell me the context you heard it in?

@@Anelisa8520 OH!! Sorry!! That was a typo in the captions. It's supposed to say "reading word lists". So, you would give them a list of words that all contain the target sound and have them read those words. Sorry about that!
