You get 10000000 likes from me good sir. I have screwed around with Guitar Rig 5, through a multi speaker system, configured multiple DAW interfaces and Banana had me so stumped. If I could buy you a beer from the States I would, thank you so much bro.
You, my friend, are amazing. I have been trying to get this or similar solutions working for my situation (podcast recording) for over a year now and this is the first time I've been able to make it work.
Hey. Great vid. Thanks. Is there ANY way I can send JUST the system audio - YT clips or a soundboard that plays clips - from VM Banana to OBS [or, a Zoom H6 recorder, preferably]? In other words, I want to be able to record a separate track of just system audio (not my mic) that I can add as its own track when I edit my podcast in Audacity etc. My Skype guest has to be able to hear the sound clips, but I still would LOVE the system audio to be on its own track. For what it's worth, my guest on Skype records their own audio - we just use Skype to chat / see each other. Confused?! Thanks in advance.
Thank you so much for this tutorial, it's exactly what I needed to know to really understand the system. I am thinking of using it for podcasting, so I made a setup that lets me play audio clips over the microphone output so that you can listen to people's voicemails and submissions, etc. You can also use this to record multiple track streams!
I Sub instandly, one of the best tutorial out there. this is how you explain things and not bla bla bla like some others out there getting me out of track. well done sir.
I hasve a question now, do you know how to setup a DUAL streaming pc with voicemeter + elgato hd60 pro and with obs? i know maybe its to much asking but i think i need to try. im setup my gaming pc with my streaming pc right now and i need any help i can get.
1. Great video you helped me form an understanding of how to work VMB 2. I just have a question, if I want to listen to spotify but not broadcast the music to the stream how would my setting look like?
You are the man dude this tutorial was excellent! I've got it figured out now. Thanks John. I also set it up so spotify is playing in a different audio channel so I can stream and listen to music.
Good guide. I like the fact that you try and explain exactly how it all works instead of just how to set it up, you don't usually see that. I have a few questions however if you don't mind. I was using Voicemeter before, just the normal one. However, what would usually happen is after a random period of time, my mic would start "tearing", sounding robotic, and the only way to fix it was to restart the Voicemeter. But this happened frequently, every 5-10 minutes or so. In the end, despite how it drastically improved how your voice/mic sounds, it wasn't worth the hassle. Does voicemeter banana stop that? Also, can you use it for multiple programs? Such as voice record, discord, OBS etc at the same time, or can you only use its settings for one at a time? If you reply, thanks man. Because for me it's the decision between installing and possibly donating or just leaving it as is.
this was a great video, helped me aa lot. However i was wondering how i might be able to control the desktop audio going to the stream WITHOUT affecting the output to my headphones.
in this settings, does it improved hearing footsteps clearer or this setting is just for discord and streaming? im planning to play solo in PUBG. thank you
Really helpful video thanks mate, but I still got one question so basically when I streaming my buddy's are rly loud on discord but on the actual stream they are kinda quite, so question is can i bump up they voice on the mixer and on the meantime I can hear them normally not very very loud?? Thanks
12:47 My Discord chat is on input 2. (Labelled Discord) I stream with OBS, B2. It's a fine balance between Desktop audio in, (your game) your own mic, Discord level (input 2) and OBS output level (B2). If you can make a video, link it here dude.
Hey John, followed your settings exactly.. for some reason im getting no sound from my friends in discord... mic is working fine though. Any suggestions?
Hey bud nice video. I have an issue when using Voicemeeter where my voice sounds doubled when monitoring. I only have 1 Mic input and coming straight out of my Headphones. Any ideas why would be great thanks.
I have a at-2035 mic with a focusrite 2i2 mixer and want my mic to sound better with this program, but when I use it, it makes my mic pop like a needle is going through paper every half a second or so when I talk, but when I don’t use voice meter it doesn’t happen.
Hello, i am pretty sure i have done everything right, but when i try to make my dekstop voice, spotify etc. so others can hear it in discord/teamspeak, i cant make it work.
That worked perfectly! You have my sub and like :D Thank you so much! I spent so many hours trying to fix this but no luck. One 15 min vid sorted out all my problems :)
I have a question. I have set this up so that i can run music ambience for my friends when we play d&d and stuff. They can hear the music just fine, but they also hear themselfs double. How do i fix this, so that they dont get their own voice but just whatever i play on my pc? thanks in advance
SO I'm not sure if this software isn't capable of what I'm trying or if you missed some steps. I'm trying to create a virtual input from a piece of software on my computer that only outputs on windows default audio output. I'd have to isolate that with it's own virtual hardware which I can't seem to do without changing the windows default and that makes it so I can't use any other audio. If I can get past that hang up, the next step would be mixing that virtual input alongside my microphone so I can use my Syrinscape Soundboard in real time as I'm talking to my group, but not only can I not set Syrinscape on it's own virtual input, but I can't mix virtual inputs with hardware inputs or stop the side audio from the microphones without stopping their I/O entirely. Back in the day I would have just set up an IP stream through winamp or something.
So i'm not sure if you'll see this but, I copied everything respectively to my set up, but my mic isn't getting picked up by discord, Only way is if I set the mic to my yeti itself.
how about this to work with surround sound? like razer surround pro or razer synapse stuff? and how about using it with streamlabs obs? that one has kinda different stuff
Great video! Everything is very well explained, so thank you for that! For the Discord settings, I don't have "Speakers (VB-Audio Virtual Cable)" but I do have "CABLE Input (VB-Audio Virtual Cable). Would those two be the same thing? Also, when I'm streaming on Twitch, how can I alter volume for my discord buddies for the stream but not my own headphones?
Did you set the recording device in windows to voicemeeter output, and the playback device to voicemeeter input? Windows can change your settings if you unplug a device. Your headphones are on a separate output. Or at least they should be. My headphones are on A1, the stream or OBS is on B2.
Thanks, I got Discord to work for input/output now! However, still trying to wrap my head around adjusting volume for my stream. My Discord sounds come in loud for the stream, but are quiet for me. In order to change the volume for the stream, do I simply turn down the Hardware Input I have set to Discord and then turn up A1 (my headphones) in the Master Section? Then I suppose I can alter the in-game sounds to adjust appropriately? If I understand, the stream is not affected by me turning up A1 because that is solely on my end?
Opened OBS to do a little more testing - this seems to work and not affect the sound levels in OBS (turning down the Discord Hardware set as Cable Output for the stream, and then turning up my headphones set as A1 in the Master Section for only me).
I have this VoiceMeter Bannana on MY desktop computer and HERE is a problem that it's been giving ME - much too often I have OPENED the thing but it does NOT ACTIVATE. So please tell me, if you would, WHAT do you DO when it does NOT ACTIVATE AUTOMATICALLY upon being OPENED?
wow. amazing you my man have all my respect for just taking your time and explain everything, i am really grateful, i made everything work fine, thanks to you.
Hey man awesome video. I im trying to use a Software along with this set up call Voice mod. It's basically a vocal effect tool. I can't seem to figure out how to get it to work in conjunction with Voicemeeter and OBS. Thanks man.
Is there any way to cancel out the background noises? I recorded my game but after I watched the video there are plenty of noises the mic picks up, the sound of the fan, the noise from the television, etc..
hey wondering how to separate audio like when i stream and record at the same time i always have RU-vid music in the background for chat to hear but i dont want the music in the recording because of copyright issues just wondering if there's a way to separate it?
you'd probably have to use a different software for recording than you are for streaming. seeings as OBS can't split the audio itself, as it records exactly the same thing that is streamed
Got a Problem, how tf do i use this with Shadowplay, Shadowplay just randomly breaks.. like.. in the beginning i had sound Made a few clips yesterday, all without any sound, made some clips today again and i had sound but no mic sound.. wtf
I have used voicemeeter for months now and love the sound I can produce from my mic with it. I do however find that when I route my sound through voicemeeter there is a loss in sound quality. Maybe less sound separation and/or clarity.. hard to put my finger on it but all I know is since I upgraded from on board audio I noticed a difference in the quality of sound when using voicemeeter. Am I crazy? Is there a solution for this if I am not crazy?
I haven't played with the latency as i've seen a lot of posts saying to leave a lot of the rates default and just make sure sample rates are the same in everything. How would changing the latency effect things?
M - try playing (that is, tuning) the two circular things under the "Intellipan" box. Also, try moving the red square in the "Intellipan" box around. You might also want to experiment with the EQ.
So I setup everything exactly as youve done here and the result is an awful feedback loop. Everything is doubled. I don't want to hear my own microphone in my ears. What do I toggle to remove this aspect of your setup?
i dont see "speakers (VB-Audio Virtual Cable) " in my discord output settings.I have multiple to select from but the only "speakers " option I have is the "speakers (Yeti Stereo Microphone)" what did i do wrong?
Well at 2:44 it appeared that YOURS had ACTIVATED AUTOMATICALLY as soon as you had OPENED IT, .. . well MINE has NOT. Please tell me HOW to DEAL with THAT.
TheJohnDenim Umm... What you mean. I guess, my computer has another sound card because it has six outputs, if you want to make home cinema. I could setting this outputs to do whatever job I want, but the program for this job (Realtek HD Audio Manager) is missing from my computer because of an update for Windows 10. And now Im trying to find another program to do this job and im looking for voice meeter banana. Sorry if my english are not good because I am Greek. Sorry again!!
I am so confused, I literally updated my realtek sound drive and now EVERYTHING I hear is so fucked, the sound is completely fucked and i have no clue on how to fix it, everygame sounds so distorted, everyone that talks in discord sounds like theyre a mile away, its completely fucked. Im using a laptop so i use a built in mic and have headphones plugged in, and on the far left bar on voice meeter it shows the volume that I hear you through and it also controls the volume of me talking, its like 2 built into 1 which is the issue, i cant control my input and output.
In another video with 500k views he explained I needed to use VB virtual audio cable in my recording tab if I want others to hear the way I setup myself to sound. You said it doesn't matter. I don't know which is true.
Am I having a stupid moment here? On discord it doesn't say headphones (vb-audio Virtual Cable) it just says cable input (vb-audio virtual cable). voicemeeter aux input and headphones (realtek High Definition Audio Driver). Have I done something wrong here?
I had it working perfectly then It stopped working when i accidentally changed the default audio device back to my headset and switched it back It detected no sound tried restarting reinstalling taking out all drivers on the device manager uninstalling restarting reinstalling restarting resetting up restarting its just not detecting any of my stuff in the mixer even though I have the devices selected
Update: I did a system restore to remove all the registry files and that was the only thing that got it to work again. Switching from wdm to ks on my headset made it detect sound again but WDM no longer works. I tried the restart audio engine too it just doesnt want me to use that setting anymore I guess
I dont want to connet to discord with my voice, I just want to stream on streamlabs with it. Voicemeeter banana makes it sound extremely garbled and trashy. Any help would be appreciated.
I tried that, my mic is at 16 bit dvd quality, cant go higher, and i have the voicemeeter one set to 24 bit studio and its still sounds the same. I appreciate you taking the time to answer me though.
When I stream, my friends in discord are as loud as I am.. Is there a way I can keep them at the same volume in my headset but quieter in stream using voicemeter? Thanks
