You'll never realize the massive help you have been to me and to many around the world. I teach ESL online and this closed captioning is going to help my teaching tremendously.
Brilliant!! Thank you. This will help me immensely as sometimes a student can miss a class & now I can just send them the transcript of the day's lesson!
Fantastic, thank you. I had no idea about this transcript feature and for my last two meetings, I spent two hours re-watching videos of our meetings and typing word for word.
AWESOME! Your video was right on time because I have a meeting tomorrow that needs closed captioning. You made it so easy, thou I had a different version from yours. Your directions were clear and easy to follow.
Thank you so much for making this video. I will be making some youtube tutorials and have been trying to figure out the best way to make my voiceovers accessible to my DHH colleagues. I appreciate your clear, concise tutorials.
There have been some changes to the settings since you made this video - but even allowing for that, this is an extraordinarily helpful little video and I'm very grateful for it. I know now how to handle using captioning both as a meeting host and an attendee. Thank you!
Thank you for a very useful video! I have one question about the translation of the closed captioning. I don't have Live Transcript box in my zoom meeting. I just have Closed Caption settings, don't have 'Enable Auto - Transcription' button. What should I do to get that button? Many Thanks, Basma
This is very helpful. I use an Enterprise version that does not allow me to access the advanced settings you used. I have requested the Enterprise Administrator to activate the function. My wife has the Pro version and the settings worked exactly as you described. I have a friend who has hearing difficulty - I am looking forward to being able to use this function with him. Thank you.
Really helpful video, thanks 🙏 !! I wonder how the transcription in real time works when people speak at the same time for a quick sec.. hopefully it won't transcribe it.
Hi, can all meeting attendees on zoom meeting see close captions in case I turn that option on? I would prefer that only the person that request CC is be able to see them on their screen.
Yes, you can download the transcription of a Zoom meeting and translate it into another language. Here's how: 1. Enable Cloud Recording and Transcription: Before the Meeting: As the host, make sure you have a paid Zoom account with cloud recording enabled. Then, schedule or edit the meeting settings to activate "Audio transcription." During the Meeting: If you forgot to enable it beforehand, you can start a cloud recording during the meeting and it will automatically transcribe the audio. 2. Download the Transcript: After the Meeting: Zoom will process the recording and transcription. Once ready, you'll receive an email notification. Sign In: Log in to your Zoom account on the web portal. Navigate to Recordings: Go to the "Recordings" tab and find your meeting. Click Meeting Name: Click on the meeting name to see a list of files, including the audio recording, video recording, and audio transcript file (usually a VTT file). Download: Download the VTT file.
FYI. Zoom now shows this feature as Automated captions - Allow users to enable automated captions in these languages in meetings and webinars. Still shows in In Meeting - Advanced
Excellent explanation of this feature.. I do have a question. Is there a way to turn on auto captioning to record what is being said but only be viewable for the host to see and save? What I'm trying to accomplish is not having to take manual notes when running a Zoom meeting and have it automatically transcribe but not necessarily be seen or available to the meeting participants. Is this possible with Zoom?
Hi Scott... Love the great info here! I enabled CC on Zoom, and recorded a training for a deaf friend. When I viewed the recording, it didn't show the CC, even though it showed on the screen as I was producing the Zoom recording. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? I did get a complete transcript of the CC, but I was hoping it would show in my recording. ALSO... where is the setting to get the yellow highlight on my mouse pointer, like you used when creating this video? Thank you for your help!
Glad you liked this! As for your question, please check this setting: In the Advanced cloud recording settings, click the Audio Transcript checkbox to enable it, then click Save to confirm the change. This should make it available when playing back the recording. As for my cursor, I use a software called Camtasia to add this effect when editing.
thank you! it is very clear and useful! could you please suggest how to set up for transcribing different languages? i only managed to switch the languages weeks ago by an accidental discovery. but i spent hours today but i could not find it. Zoom should be able to detect and transcribe in different languages by settings. thank you!!!
This was a great tip, no need to down load any other apps to transcribe. It would be helpful to know now how to add in other languages, does this only work in English?
does it make sense to use this feature for writing up the notes to a meeting? Is the initiator of the zoom meeting the only one that can make these choices for transcribing a meeting? I am a club secretary and i write up the meeting minutes for the membership.
Hi, DO you know how to translate the cc? I need to have a meeting between English speaking folks and Spanish and having that options would be great, right now I can make it work just one way. no both, Spanish is not turning into english
Can I hide the subtitle from the other meeting members? I only want the subtitle for myself because English is not my first language but my colleagues don't need it. Can I hide it from them?
@Simpletivity I need to have an US professor do an art themed seminar to Chinese faculty. I need automatic simultaneous translation capability. Do you know if zoom has such capability? Thank you for your time
Yes, you can disable captions for users: In the meeting controls toolbar, next to the Show Captions icon , click the up arrow icon. Under the Host Controls section, click Disable captions. Automated captions will end for all participants.
Do you have an updated video for this, my back office in zoom looks nothing like this, there is no closed captioning setting any longer. Please advise. Thanks.
Thanks for your question, Danna. While I don't have an updated video, this article should help you out: support.zoom.com/hc/en/article?id=zm_kb&sysparm_article=KB0059762#:~:text=this%20happen%20automatically.-,Sign%20in%20to%20the%20Zoom%20desktop%20client.,to%20enable%20Always%20show%20captions.
Hi. terrific video, really helpful. Is there a way to get rid of the time stamp in the saved version of the transcript? I don't need that much precision about when things were said, just what was said. Thanks.
Thanks - been looking for something like this for a while. Am I right in thinking that it's only available on the business version now the changes to the plans have come in?
Hi - great video. I presented yesterday and could see that my presentation was being "live transcribed". The problem is I can't find the actual copy of the transcription. I have the video, audio recording and chat - not not the written version of my presentation. Do you know what I did incorrectly? Thank you....
I believe that the host would only receive a notification if they had not turned on this feature and you were requesting it. More details here: support.zoom.com/hc/en/article?id=zm_kb&sysparm_article=KB0059762#:~:text=Join%20a%20Zoom%20meeting%20or,and%20then%20approve%20or%20decline.
Great video, thanks for doing it. I host meetings in Zoom where we are speaking English and Spanish. I have senior citizens with hearing impairment. Seeing the captions would help them. How can I get both languages? or a t a minimum get the Spanish language showing.
@simpletivity: When I turn on the live transcript, Is it visible to all participants in the meeting? Can't it be only visible to me? Pls suggest. Thanks
Unfortunately, when I click on advanced settings there is no tag that says "closed captioning". After "remote support" which is on the video it says "manuel captions." CLARIFICATION PLEASE. Is "closed captioning" the same "manual captioning?" When what you say does not correspond with what I'm reading on the video, it leaves me confused. Hope to get reply.
How can you export the Live Transcript text where you can keep track of what was said by the different speakers / participants during the Zoom? I just got a bulk text file with no way to differentiate between a group of 6 Zoom participants.
@@Simpletivity Thank you Scott that is great news!! I want to thank you for all the great information you provide. It's been a game-changer for me and my students.
@@Simpletivity very helpful video. Thanks very much. The only question I have is in my experience the cc does NOT show on the video. Any ideas how to make that happen as you state?
As the host, if you turn on CC, this makes it available to your participants. They would each need to select CC within their own Zoom menu (just like turning on CC here in RU-vid) if they wanted to use that feature.
