This is the kind of workflow overview stuff that’s super helpful for someone new to zbrush. There’s so many tools in the application it’s not always immediately clear what the best way to use them together is.

Great video. Thanks a lot! Just a small note, to anybody that is having problems with the result of zRemesher, to me it often helps to run a "polish by groups", under the deformation tab in the Tool palette. It also help a lot when doing hard surface.

wow. never thought of including more loops to a separated part of a mesh to have nice details in the seams area. very insightful.

this is what i normally do though it kinda destoyed my character's lips a bit, granted I forgot the mouth bag hole so that had to do something with that, but you did show me a neat trick with quad draw i didn't think was possible as I was dreading doing everything my hand

Great video! In the past I explored how to use the HD geometry to do a similar workflow, but it really was a lot of work for basically the same result you have! Thanks for making and sharing the content! Great stuff! :)

you can also do this with slice curve and you get a little more control over the direction of each polygroups edgeflow

Awesome, thanks for the tip!

@@jchave7 hey no problem pal :) theres a bunch of cool tricks with polygroups and remesh, slicecurve also can get you 85% of the way to a gameready mesh on large forms in organic models. you just end up manually retopoing hands,fingers,faces and small parts

Thanks for the tips. Was a little lost in the 5:00 area with the crossover explanation. Hopefully, as I bring my model to that point, i'll understand.

Ya, hopefully I can improve on clarifying things! Thanks for letting me know where it got merky!

Thank you for the tips! Though there is one thing I didn’t understand, why separate your model? Why can’t you keep working on those areas between the poly groups without separating the mesh into smaller pieces?
@jchave7
@jchave7 2 дня назад
You could, but separating things allows for a larger allotment of polygons. So you have more flexibility to add detail

Whoa amazing video, i will definitely incorporate this into my process! Honestly i would love to see the whole work from start to finnish, do you plan to make something like that in the future?
@locomotionchannel

This is really good thank you. The low poly workflow: Is it specific to games? How high could a model for animation be? I imagine the topology still would need to be cleaned but "zbrush llow poly" would be goo dyeah?

Amazing tutorial! Can you make a video on how to retopologize (edge loops, poly flow etc) I've been searching for one but there is no starting point video on this. Every video just picks off mid-process so I'm lost :(

A question: How would you sculpt the details on areas that have the seamlines if you're using seamlines to project details back and forth?
@jchave7
@jchave7 Год назад
You grow the seam line past the seam and sculpt on one part once you project it into the next part you can pick up from that point

What brush is that 3rd and 4th from the bottom? Are these custom mods to standard damstandard and clay?
@jchave7
@jchave7 Год назад
Ya, those are just some modified brush I’ve made over the years. They’re a dam standard and clay tubes modded brush

bro can u keep the arms/ head separated if u want to keep high level details in the UV with different materials?. And if u do can u rig skin those separated meshes without problem?. Great video btw.
@jchave7
@jchave7 Год назад
Yes you can have them seperated by a material. That is using one contigous mesh using UDIMs
@Damian_h
@Damian_h Год назад
@@jchave7 ah man ur comment came in handly because im in the retopo part and i was about to split mesh in like 3 parts head/body/arms legs but now imma do all in 1 mesh and investigate about udims thanks bro ur awesome.

why do you press Group mask button all the time if you can simply press "ctrl+W" to make that polygroup under the masked mesh?
@jchave7

Uh im pretty bad about keyboard shortcuts so just out of ignorance more than anything haha But will keep that shortcut in mind! So thanks for that
