How to Wash The Flour: the ENTIRE process (Seitan, Vegan Meat, WTF)

I was washing the flour to make some vegan ham and thought I'd take the opportunity to record the WHOLE process with (almost) no cuts. Nothing like this exists on the internet (I don't think) so thought I'd show you all how I approach this method.

Wait.. . people complain because you adapt a stance that protects your back so that you can continue to develop free videos for everyone to watch?!?!? Please say this isn't what has happened.

When you have disabilities, some people take it as you being disabled AT them if it comes up as an issue. As if you're being disabled intentionally to inconvenience or annoy them, instead of it just being part of your life that inconveniences you far more than it could ever inconvenience them. People like that aren't common, but they do tend to be very expressive, so their actions stand out. I'm glad he mentioned this trick. I plan to use it myself from now on. Leaning to use the counter is rough enough, and the sink is way worse.

I find massaging the starch out under running water is quicker than the submerged method, which I never see anyone do on RU-vid. I do it over a bowl to keep the starchy water, but it takes half the time.

Thank you for this great real time video. Sharing all of the steps like this makes the whole process much less intimidating. I've never seen a step by step, uncut video of wash the flour technique either. This is a real help!

I really like the visual that the dye offers, often it is really hard for me to tell until it has sat for 30 minutes to tell how much starch I have left! The only other video I have seen with a breakdown was the pot thickens channel (I am pretty sure that is where it was from, but now I don't see it)

thank you for the comprehensive guide! i had to make 2 dough balls in different bowls because i didnt have a big enough one for a single huge dough ball lol but it worked out fine and only took me 4 washes with the smaller balls. im excited to try cooking it later, the detail in your guides got me confident enough to just do it and so far it’s been really simple

How do you get it to the point in the bowl tho?…how much flour?…how much water?…does it sit for a period of time?…I’m brand new to seitan…

Gotta say it, Why not eat a balanced diet with a tasty salad with one of Grandma's famous apple sauce pork chops?! And since im at it "gingerly stepping on toes" can you wash that nasty gluten out? I have Celiac disease....

I would recommend instead of seitan (which is made of gluten) you have something more like Tofu or with Chickpeas (both can make some really good options)

A vegan diet can be just as balanced as any, minus the animal cruelty. There are plenty of options for you if you're allergic to gluten, but I'm not really sure why you're watching a video about how to extract wheat gluten from flour when you have celiac disease.
