Thank you for all the info. I am trying to learn about all the new procedures on setting up and maintaining a saltwater tank. I used to have some back in the 80s and my things have changed!

Great video! This helps! and just so you know If you put that entire hose in the tank, fill it with water, plug one end, take that end out of the tank, and release the plug, the siphon will start and you don't need to drink saltwater anymore.

great video man. Sometime the work in a full water change is a pain, but it's so worth it in the end.

So on your large diameter siphon tube, if you submerge the entire tube to fill it with water first, cover the exit hole with your hand while the tube it full, you can lift the exit end up and out of the tank, then release the exit end into the bucket... no more saltwater smoothies for you...

You did a good cleaning and the right way to do it. Water change last after you done everything else. That filter floss you using and where you using it is the reason why you didn't notice any difference with or without the skimmer. That's the same stuff I use and it work's. Thanks for sharing.

When starting the bigger hose pipe, just go to the sink and fill it up till it over flows. Then cover one end with your hand and put the other end into the water while aiming the other end into the bucket. (: thats how i start my sython without sucking it.

Great video, and amazing tank set up, do you heat your water in your water butts in your shed?

Here are some tips for you . Take a food strainer put that at the end of your first gravel cleaner and put it into a floor drain,sink or even a bathtub as this will save you moving the dirty water twice. use your first gravel cleaner for the whole job. You will get it a lot cleaner. HEAT your water to same temp before putting it in! Mix it overnight. Even a small pump can do ALL the mixing, just put it in the bottom of the tank so the water goes in circles.. job done When taking out equipment clean it out in the sink with a brush and rinse it of in bucket of rodi water.

You've put me to shame...well back on it now ..never syphoned my marine tank before (but always did on my freshwater)..and have always battled phosphates so thanks for that very simple tip....love the tank btw

Beautiful tank Mike! To start the syphon, just dunk the entire tube in the tank & fill it up w/ water, cap one end w/ your palm as to not break the seal until u transfer it into the bucket (or put a ball valve). Let's not forget the toxins, though you have a carbon reactor. ??? Are u able to see the tank from the shed or do u make a dash to shut off the valve when the tank fills up :)

two week ago purchased a nano tank I now have a carpet anennomy and a green implosion polip also the temperature is on 29.9 and my ammonia test is on yellow with a tint of green 🐠🐟

any problems with the rocks getting dirty since the water is not that polished more ditritus all fall on the rocks

Before you add the new water, do you measure the salinity in your main display in case its low in salt?

When do you turn off you pump and everything. I have all in one biocube and when I turn of the pump some of the water will go to the back. Ty

Beautiful! If you want to keep from sucking up water on the big pipe, then submerge the whole thing in your tank. Cover the end that you put in your waste bin, and simply remove your hand from the end after you have it in the bin. Tada! No water in your mouth (:

Hi Aaron,Great setup and very well maintained. Couple of questions. I see you use Carbon reactor. Has that created any negative effects on your setup I have heard Carbon takes away lot of nutrients.
