I show the process of applying Redgard Topical Membrane. It is very important that your shower is properly waterproofed so that it can last for 50 years or more. RedGard is a great way to make sure that your shower is properly build.
Priming is to be done with the Redgard. Mixed with water at a 4:1 ratio (4 water 1 Redgard.) And YES, priming IS necessary on lightweight concrete substrates, which both fiber-cement board and glasscrete board are.
@@krehbein Yes it is. It is necessary for any lightweight concrete substrate. Fiber cement board and glasscrete (Durock) are considered lightweight concrete substrates.
@@coinholio6863 No tile is waterproof. You need one and only one waterproofing system. Either a sheet membrane with a preslope under it and a floated curb, or a topical membrane (like Redgard) with a bonding flange drain or divot method. Using 2 waterproofing systems creates a "moisture sandwich". You can't tie the topical into the drain system when using a sheet liner underneath. .
@@k0harmer panliner has no reason now would have been better with fabric membrane in mud floor then some hydroban band and run hydroban on walls. He did a mold sandwich 🥪
Looks like a shower drain for a fiberglass surround…no weep holes like a 3 piece drain. Could be wrong… not a fan of the seat method, a weak point where water can get in, basically just relying on a bead of silicone where the red guard meets the seat
