Waxing your own Snowboard or Skis can seem like a daunting task, but in reality, if you scrape ice off your windshield, you can do it yourself!
Tools you will need:
-Wax Iron
-Wax
-Scraper
-Brush
-Vice Grips
-File
Once you get the hang of it, it should only take you 30 minutes and you'll be ready to rip down your local hill in no time!

Great tutorial! I'm trying to be the good Dad and figure these things out for my daughter. Happy to see Will Forte making snowboarding Tutorials!

Don’t know if you’ve looked at other vids too, ik different vids show different things but what I’ve learned from vids and experience from shops is tune the edges before you wax, then use the crayoning method to apply the wax instead of the drip method, and something I noticed a lot of people don’t mention is taking off the bindings, taken them off will one save you from having to cover them or just being careful not to get wax on them, two it’ll give a more flat place to rest the board, and three the screws pull the board so you just get a more even coat

Thanks for the tip! I have to rewax the board a bit. My daughter took it out after my first time waxing the board and said it was way to too fast. Think I need to remove some more wax haha @@jordanmorrow4757

Sharpen before waxing. Mark the sides of the edges with a Sharpie first so that you can see what you have.

What do you mean by see what you have
@ZacharyKenney8
@ZacharyKenney8 8 месяцев назад
@carterhutchins5996 I think the idea is to put a sharpie over the edge, so when you sharpen it, you can ensure that you’ve hit the entire edge by visually seeing the how much of that sharpie mark is removed.

Sharpen first then wax.

Was about to post that! Yes, sharpen first! 2 degree sides (skis) is good for most Eastern conditions, but not necessary if you ski powder all the time.

When your board is waxed and brushed… if you rub your fingers on the board is it suppose to make like a squeaking sound? I don’t know if I scrubbed to hard or not.
@ZacharyKenney8
@ZacharyKenney8 8 месяцев назад
In my experience, keep scraping until no more wax comes off. Push hard! The wax you care about is what’s left in the pores of the board.
@thedredofxi

Why not take a common hardware glove? End, attach a vacuum holes to the back of the glove so that well your scraping all of the excess wax off your board. The vacuum is sucking it up at the same time!

Are you supposed to let the wax cool to room temperature before scraping?
@ZacharyKenney8
@ZacharyKenney8 4 месяца назад
In my experience the wax cools very quickly, so I don’t do any extra wait time. But yeah, definitely don’t scrape it off right away if it’s still hot.

Why would you do your base face edge? More so at 88.

Does the edges have to be really sharp? Like can cut your fingers sharp?
@ZacharyKenney8
@ZacharyKenney8 6 месяцев назад
Depends on where you’re skiing. East coast ice, then yes, cut your finger nail sharp. Mountain west, sharpen every three years.

Do you recommend dripping vs warm rubbing the wax on before iron? Why?
@ZacharyKenney8
@ZacharyKenney8 11 месяцев назад
I have no experience with the warm rubbing, so I can’t really recommend which is better.

Everyone knows edges first, then wax. There's nothing like someone doing a tutorial who doesn't even know the proper order of things.🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

Good god!! This reminds me of the toothpaste commercials where they lay down an inch of toothpaste on the toothbrush. Are you trying to sell wax or just be wasteful? You’ve got about 10x more wax than you need for proper coverage…and all that excess just gets scraped off and thrown in the trash. Try some restraint and see how it goes.
