"Do not actively swing your wrist" that's a good one as it is also a habit that is hard to break unconsciously. Thanks. ...this demo gave me furthermore understanding about how the forearm swing is to be generated - I confess, especially on the third time I listened to it.

We are glad that the video helped! Will try to simplify things even more in the future to make things understandable the first time people watch the video so thank you for letting us know that we have to work on making the explanations even more clear :)

@@revolutionarymotion4161 It's mainly my bad. I was on the browsing mode at the time and was not paying close attention well to the items in front of me. But when I happen to see the video again it clicked in because I realized right away that it filled in an information gap.

I love how you managed to simplify what so many other teaching pros make more complicated than it actually is. Well-done. This video should have many more views!!

This is such a key technique to get right, any chance you could show the same for the one handed backhand, and the service motion?

Thank you. Great tip! I got all the way to 4.0 level but still struggling to find this whipping effect on my forehand.

You're welcome. This feeling is one of the hardest ones to acquire in tennis. Best way we can describe it is that it seems like the contact point is extended and the ball seems to get a lot of power despite the fact that you did not swing very hard. However, the contact point tends to feel heavier. Good luck finding the feeling for yourself! :)

Yes, but its not presented clearly and succinctly - many of these coaches try to teach the "modern forehand" but fail to mention leg drive and movement which is equally important. The easy way to explain the arm movement is to relax the wrist and "throw the racket" - thats it @@peoplespeace

Good instruction on keeping the joints loose and keeping the wrist extended before contact. How much does the wrist actually flex before contact? I don't think it does very much. Even in the last clip, it looks to remain extended in a strong position and actually "releases" just after / at contact. Hard to tell without very slow motion. Using shoulder rotation to keep the angle of the racquet pointed at the target throughout the contact zone is a missing element in this tutorial but you hint at it with the forearm tip.

Keep ur arm in the same angle as him at contact, set the racket parallel with the net. Now check how flexed/extended ur wrist is!
@foxyonthrottle690

if you think logicly. then the wrist can NOT stay in the same position !!! the lag position or 90 degree angle or Lshape whatever they call it will change towards contact !!! if it doesnt change it means you have to make contact with your arm completely forward ( meaning if you watch a clock ) pointing at 12 oclock if you want to play straight and 11.30 if you want to play cross hmmm that also means that the moment your arm gets to 12 that all the speed is gone and you will have no power at contact hmmm then you watch the pros and they hit around a 45 degree anglee with their arm meaning if the racket would be on that 90 degree angle then that ball will fly to the court next to them hmmmm so logicly their will be around a 45 degree change in wrist position at contact and that my friend is the whip action of the wrist which is a very short action and the shorter the faster it can be and that whipping action will continue after contact untill wrist gets in that nuetral position and pronation takes over !!! you see sometimes a delay in that continuation of the wrist because of the impact of the ball and thats why people think they keep the strings pointing towards target which is also imposible in a circular motion.hope it makes it a little more clear

Great tip. Sounds like when starting the swing the hand supinated and finishing with the hand pronated. Is that right?

hand can NOT supinate !!! hand cand only flexion and extension and radial to ulnar deviation and visa versa.
