Just in the process of putting a new motor in my wife’s Artisan. I’ve nearly finished and this guide has been absolutely invaluable. Not sure I could have managed the job without your talk through! Thanks!

I'm not one who usually comments on this sort of thing but, this video made a big job relatively stress-free. Nathan's help on the phone confirmed my field asm was fried. The price was competitive, and shipping was fast. Thanks so much!

You make so easy. My motor wouldn’t fit right and The bearing on the shaft would not go in right and the wires for the brushes don’t get me started on that. Putting the screws and nuts are driving me crazy. I wish that I had you do this for me. I’m only half done putting it together and I am about to give up

Lots of videos about replacing various parts but how do i know which component is broken? Is there a way to test the field assembly, phase board or any of the electrical component before tear down?

Thanks so much for your videos! I have a two quick questions: does it matter which way the front armature bearing is installed (I assume the "exposed" bearing holders face to the front)? should that bearing be greased? Thanks in advance.

Starting out my kitchen aid was wavering and low power on the higher settings. Model no KSM5. Ordered the two parts in link and tried to install The field assembly will not fit inside my Kitchen Aid housing/body (site says this should fit my model.) Armature fit fine; when I proceeded with just the armature replacement and rebuilt machine/ but now I have a dead kitchen aid… Since have reinstalled original armature to at least gain back where I started; but still dead mixer… Where did I miswire something/break something else? Brushes are in correct position and black and white wires connect to brushes on opposite sides of brushes. Q

How do you test the motor field winding / armature separately? If I put 120 volts AC directly to the brushes should the motor run? Thank you

Sure wish I had seen this video before I tried to remove the motor in my Classic Model K45SSWH mixer. Good video but I did wonder why he didn't replace the gear grease when he had the mixer apart.
@somarpr
@somarpr 9 месяцев назад
If there is metal shavings or a bad worn out gear, the plastic one or if the grease odor is nor normal then you have to clean the whole grease out and replace it. In this case it was not needed. The grease in them have that color and has to be a food grade certified one. Some people use the white one which tends to get hard in very cold weather, so you need decide which to use. But the standard one is the darker one.

OUr mixer doesn't have enough power to mix dough etc. Motor keeps going but it won't turn. I replaced the worm gear but that didn't make a difference. What do you think the issue would be? Is it the motor?

@@appliancepartspros Thanks. It's a K5SS, but I think I found the problem. I found the switch that completes the circuit and discovered that it was always engaged because the plastic bit on the end of the speed bar was not pressing on it. The plate that the switch was attached to looked a little bent, so I bent it back into shape and now the bar puts enough pressure on it to disengage the switch. Good to go!

Any tips on how to remove a stuck groove pin? Mine is seriously in there! I noticed your video has a break in that process, so maybe it took you a while too?
@alang7846
@alang7846 4 года назад
That's the most difficult part of the whole job. I put the machine on it's side, with the planetary supported directly by a block of wood. I had cut a slot in the wood, so with the planetary supported, the pin would fall through the slot. I used Plusgas penetrating oil. The key is to stop the planetary from moving. I had to hit the pin pretty hard.

This video is 3.5 yrs old now. I went to your website to see parts and these motor parts do not show. Are they special order? I have an OLD Kenwood Chef from the 1950's that if I cover the name, you would swear it was a KitchenAid machine. It was my Mom's and she passed in 1991. I turned it on a couple years ago and the motor still runs but smelled hot. I know it needs lubricating and perhaps the motor needs replacing, so just wondering if you still supply parts. Dan from Ontario.
