Hi - great video - I have a 2004 Yukon - rear driver side window rolls down on its own at random times - I replaced the specific window switch but problem still remains - I spoke with a guy and he said change the relay in the footwell - but I am struggling to see that the relay could cause the repeated fault of the specific window (why does it not affect the other windows.....) - only other thing I can think of is the driver's master switch assembly (expensive to replace) - any advice???
Nice video. I am restoring an old truck. I have a donor truck and I want to power down the windows. There is no fuse panel in the doner so can't just install a battery and power the windows down. I am trying to figure out how to power my windows down. I took the switch out of the door panel and now I am trying to figure out what wires I should apply 12 volts to. I will try to use the wiring you just did, but I think the colours are different. It is a GM switch for 4 windows. At least you have me pointed in the right direction. Thanks for sharing.👍👍
Hi, love your work! If I go to the parts store and I want to buy a switch to run my power window, can I wire it like fog lights? Like a + to the battery and then to the positive side of the motor and a ground??? I'm trying to simplify it lol, any ideas? Would I need 2 switches per window???
Hi, thank you for the great videos, Lots of help. I have a 1971 Corvette and one window stoped working . I tried to by pass the switch to eliminate that, but I am having trouble by passenger the switch. Could you please tell me what I am doing wrong? Thank you
1- no spal doesn't make switches with the arrows, but Ive seen them on ebay though. and fyi - they always have green led lights, So if blue is your thing the only way that can happen is if you modify the color of the led's in the switches themselves
ok here's my problem. passenger seat power window works fine on its switch (rolls up and down). however, on the master switch (driver's switch), it is only able to roll up the passenger side window, not down. i've tried cleaning the switch on the driver's side with contact cleaner spray can but didn't work. what could be the problem here? thanks
I have a window switch just like the one you show on your video. I wire it up and it works once in awhile. The window goes up and down very slowly. I take the switch out and operate the window from a power source. It works fine. Could I have wired it to the switch wrong? I'm putting in after market window and door locks. The windows are the problem. Any ideas?
Good video.. let me ask you.. how can I apply this concept to my 97 Honda accord. The passenger window will not roll the window up or down by either driver or passenger switch. The wires are getting power but somehow its not working the motor. Test light shows power going through the wires but it don't roll down or up.. so how can I just run a new set of wires just for that window. Where do I get the power from?
Dear sir Martin, i have an avital 4103 w a dball express kit that i removed from a 07 wk grand cherokee, the people who installed it did a piss poor job it took the body module out twice. I am wondering will this setup work for a 02 saturn L200 2.2 ecotec. I looked for wire harness diagram and couldnt find any for l200. I would like to instsll it in the saturn instead.
is there another way to connect a window motor.. im using one for a partition on a van and didnt want to use a switch.. i want to operated with an app (Bluetooth relay board) but i thoung i was going to have a ground and two positives now i dont know how to do it.. any ideas?
I am about to add a universal power window kit to my hot rod. This kit comes with the same Japanese green light window switch in your video. This may sound a little weird but, my hot rod interior is lit with all blue led lights, would you know if its possible to switch the green light to a blue light and if so, would you have any suggestions on how to accomplish this. Thanks
Hello I have a avic 930bt it seems to be locked up I bought from pawn shop cheap they said it had a password lock it comes on and sits on the Pioneer startup screen is there anything I can do? Thanks for your info
Ah ha! I bought heavy duty momentary on rockers, they won’t work for this will they? They are places for three hot wires , 3 groups of two contacts. All this time I though high voltage stuff was sometimes complicated, I understand it though, this low voltage stuff is killing me. I’m thinking I’m taking a loss on the switches I got, too late to return them, I don’t even remember where I got them. Then just get some of those type switches you have there is going to be the simplist way to deal with these windows. Hot wire to center prong and match the rest from the old factory socket to wire the rest. If that’s at all understandable and you see this any advice would be very appreciated. I have a very good understanding of how they are suppose to work now thanks to this video, I should have came to RU-vid 2 days ago I think. I have one of those 12 volt power supplies, they are just completely awesome! My father used to used it for powering a mobile cb radio in the house and to test any 12 volt stuff he needed to test out, the thing is ancient but still works perfectly.
Great video! I'm having tons of trouble finding the pin configurations for the power windows on my 2005 Tacoma, do you know where I can find them? I haven't found anything with Google and the Toyota dealerships are very scattered and don't seem to connect me with the person who knows. Thanks, you're video has helped me out so far.
Pretty good. Maybe you can help me im trying to use an old power window switch for my antenna that goes up and down for tuning purposes. Im gonna wait until you reply to make sure. I hope to hear from you.
so if i get power to roll the window down but not to go up do i just need to replace one of the blue/green cables because i know the switch and motor work? if so where would i get the wire from and how would that install work?
I was replacing my the front Driver & Passenger side window regulator/motor today and all went well and fine - however, on the passenger side, I don't believe I did anything differently - but the up and down direction has gotten reversed. I've been researching this and people say to swap the wires but I'm not finding a good diagram for 05 chevy colorado. Are the up and down movement wires a standard blue and green wire like you show in this video? I can't recall right now but I will recheck tomorrow when I tackle it again - what is odd was that originally is was operating correctly when I tested it before putting the door panel back on... but somewhere between then and getting all back together - at final assembly of the door, it acted as if it stalled and didn't want to work - then began functioning, just in reverse. So strange, never had this happen before.
good morning I have a question that I'm sure you'll be able to answer. I watch a lot of your videos great work by the way. I have these windows in my 74 bug. The issue I'm trying to fix is I don't want 2 switches on my drivers door panel because I switched handles to mk 4 handles. Is there any way to add a delay that when I hold drivers windows switch down and drivers window is down it would then trigger passenger or do I have to use the 2 switches. Thanks in advance
Hi, thank you for the video, I had a question on switches , I am installing universal power windows motors on a 60s car, and the motors are the same brand on the front Windows, and different universal motors for the back windows, will the universal switches work that they sell on Amazon work for them? Thank you in advance.
Just bought a hotrod that I didn't wire. the back window switch is a 5 prong staggered pins rocker which is toast. I have a 5 pin (inline)modern switch I'd like to change. The consul switch does work the window. In the back door there is 12 volts to both wires to the window motor with key on. The other two wires go to a plug for the switch and also each have 12 volts. Not sure how the previous switch worked and can't seem to get this one wired correctly. Appreciate any advice, Thanks
Not sure if someone could help me but I’m wiring my truck to convert to power with the oem switches I got the main to work to roll down driver and passenger on the driver side but the passenger side switch will only go down but not up it trips it out and acts like ur touching - and + together so I’m confused on how many relays I might need for a 2 window I’m wiring it with my own relays and wiring not sure if I need a total of 2 for drive n 3 or 4 for passenger so the driver side switch for the right window works with the driver side and passenger side switch (1995-1998 Chevy c1500 oem switches and motors)
I got a question I have a 96 gmc sierra manual windows I'm getting doors with power how do hook the relays to my fuse box instead of running to the battery
Hi, My two windows work and the other two doesn't. I've noticed that on the ones that don't work there's no noise when I press the switch. The window regulator and the motor is good but I'm guessing it's the wires? What should I do?
Ok - I'm changing my manual ford e150 van doors to electric windows/locks/mirrors just by swapping doors with everything in them - as for the windows I found out how to wire the passenger door switch and the driver door switch BUT I'm confused on how to wire the driver door switch which controls the passenger door - I found the wires on the passenger door which when I connect the hot and ground directly the window goes up (if I reverse polarity it goes down) so how do I use that with the driver side passenger switch?
@@mckmitten4126 - YES! I couldn't tell u how - tho it's been 6 years - but been using it all the time - but I never connected the power locks - which is fine - I'm just glad to have power windows with my Huskys - even tho one had his paw on the switch and caught his head in the window - he was never hurt - was funny tho- he never did it again - ahaa
Hi I’m using 1993 Toyota 4runner for power window conversion and here are the wires Power-Blue with red stripe Up-Blue/green stripe with red dash Down-Blue/yellow stripe with red dash And the other two wire not used not if that’s ground. For whatever reasons it’s not operating. Any ideas?
I have power bear claw latches. how do I wire emergency latches inside car? The latches themselves are wired through a control model. Does the model have its own breakers?
I'm having major problems finding the source of the problem with my driver's door power window I tested the plug going into the motor and it tests good getting all output indicated with a light tester try three different window motors and still not working and checked all fuses and relays that I know of any advice please
Honestly it depends on how you want to do it and the vehicle you have. The question is do you want to struggle or half ass it and call it a day? An example source for 12v acc power is the radio. when you turn the key power is on and if you tap in to it so will the locks or windows. Another example is from the fuse box. using a test light ground the clip while probing away and tell a buddy to turn the key forward and if it lights its 12v acc. The struggle lies in how clean of an install you want and from where you want the source and the crap you need to remove and finally button it back up. The half ass part would be direct 12v to the switch(es) and being stranded with a sapped battery from the little light. Also you can google the vehicle you have and check forums.
no if you find switchable power source for the module. if you choose to take power straight from the battery, you should install fuse and relay, otherwise it's way too easy to steal your car.
hey man ihave a 2014 lancer and i want to remove the rear power window switches but the front main panel wont work with the rear windows if the switches arent conected. i have one co ected hidden and works fine but for the othe door the switch broke so the window wont work. what can i do to make the front main panel work the rear windows with the rear window shitch taken of???
Is possible contact with you in private? I want to do an adaptation with a window switch to control an air suspension system but I don’t know how to do it or this is possible, let me know
You can definetly swap it into your Saturn, Just be sure to have the dball reprogrammed with the gm software prior to reuse, as for the vehicle wiring, It is here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cqk08zGg0Ls.html
@Lessco Electronics I need some help bro. I want to wire up some switches to my windows on my racecar. The windows, motors and regulators are installed . I have the wiring diagram but my electrical skills are novice at best . I have the window motor harness spliced and ready, and a couple 20amp fuse wires. However, There are about 8 wires coming from the window motor harness, so my question and where I need assistance at. Is what wires am I going to use for my switches? What wires do I bridge together to make the circuit possible ? etc .Below I have listed out the color and specificities of the wires coming out of the driver side window motor based on the diagram for my vehicle . Please assist me. Driver window motor Wire 1: Auto/ VT-LG Wire 2: DACC/RD-LB Wire 3: UP/ WH-BK Wire 4: Down/ YE Wire 5: Short Drop/ LG-BK Wire 6: GOC/ LB Wire 7: B+/VT-YE Wire 8: GND/BK
I'm trying to add LED lights in the door handles, could I run the power of the 12V and the ground you mentioned here when demonstrating the window switch light?
+Lessco Electronics Thanks... I have a Spal switch kit I bought from Amazon and it came with no instructions or even a wiring diagram. I consider myself a smart person but honestly, I can't make "head or tail" of what to do with this kit. I am finding bits and pieces of information online (like your excellent video) and hopefully I will eventually be able to solve the puzzle. Very disappointed with Spal.
my 2008 chevy silerado has manual windows and locks i want to change the drivers door for a door with power windows and locks how do i get it to work ?
WISH U DID ONE FOR A 1987 GMC SARFARI PASSENGER SIDE AND DRIVER SIDE I DONT KNOW WHAT COLOR GOES WHERE ON THE NEW POWER SWITCH PRONGS ( YES THEY ARE ALL OF ) I KNOW DUMMY ME. AND I DONT HAVE LIGHTS ON MINE (OLDER)
OK Have a question. I have a six pin master switch on my passenger side door that controls all my windows etc. I cannot seem to get it wired right. I have 6 wires 1 Red 1 Black 1 Blue/Red 1 Green and then 1 Black and 1 Green which I assume hook in the center. Help!! II = II (It looks like this.
Hi I bought. Car that was converted to power windows 2003 sierra however their are no relays that I can see . Looks like remote is the 12v. Reg ground and then 2 running to the power window motor . Do I need to get a relay ? My window goes up slow . And the window only goes up when I turn ignition also sometimes I have to open door and close it inorder to get the switch to work . Do I need relay ? If so how do I wire it ?
some kits just don't have relays, yours sounds like one of them. and the older gm trucks ALWAYS have lazy windows, I never saw one that wasn't. all you can do is grease them liberally to enhance the performance.
Hello, I am looking online and only finding multi color aftermarket dual or single window switch's that are wired, can you please provide a link to the color coded switch you are using. Thank you.
I have a 2020 KIA Bongo. The passenger window button panel was recently pulled apart. It separated the 5 pin wiring and now I don't know which wire connects to which pin. Please help. Thanks in advance.
i did like you showed here for a single window. the problem i am having is for multiple windows or 4 windows to be exact. when i take two motor terminals from the front and attached them together with another two terminals at the back, they stop working. could you help me.
ok i have a question, i have an 03 yukon with factory power locks, i want to install a lock button at the rear of the vehicle (lift gate / hatch) i only need it to lock all the doors, i dont care about unlock, how do i wire this up ? thanks
+Rob S That vehicle has multiplexed door locks, so in order to do that it'll be a job and a 1/2 to do. you would need a digital interface along with a switch in th rear to interface with the computer controlled locks in the Yukon. sorry to bring the bad news. This vehicle requires an Interface Module Part# XK09 or GMDL-BP to achieve the purpose
+Lessco Electronics not really bad news, as ive been looking into this for a while now ive looked at the GMDL-BP before, how would i wire this up without a remote starter ? obviously positive, negative, then im guessing the pink/white, then the green to a switch that goes to ground ? is that correct and is there anything else
You would just connect it using the hardwire method to input lock and/or unlock (or both) into it from that new switch you're adding in the rear. The switch would need to throw grounding outputs, and that's all there is to it in a nutshell.
Hi, I just converted my 2000 Chevy Silverado from Manuel to power windows, my windows still go up and down when my truck is off and the key out the ignition, the lights from the switches turn off when the truck is off..how can I make my windows not go up/down when my truck is of? Thank you
i wired my window switch directly from the battery because there is something wrong with the fusebox that the mechanic said he cant fix.. i added a circuit breaker tho.. and since i cant havnt bought a new fuse box i still run it today.. i always turn the switch off when im not using.. but i cant trust anyone else to drive my car and its a bit stressfull.. im open to better fix suggestions because i cant find a new fuse box to buy
ama bear test the window with a bettery it may be that motor, otherwise the switch is bad on the one side, work backwards while testing so you dont waste time.
A lot of these newer power windows have their own fuse somewhere in the line usually behind the dash. Don’t just check the window fuse and think that’s the only fuse to check. Edited: Refer to the vehicles electrical wiring diagram, usually found towards the back of the maintenance / overhaul / Haynes / Chiltons / Mitchell’s manual
@@Lesscoelectronics If I hurt you feels, then I don't really care. Funny tho it is. However you don't have to get snarky. I pointed out a mistake you made whether it was out of ignorance or just misspeaking, but pointing that out give no cause to be all offended. Why would I need to make a video correcting you. In a way you already did, whether you admit to it or not, you still inadvertently corrected yourself. No need for a video. No need to to thank me. Now skoot.
