Thank you! I actually found out why mine wasn't working. I wired the GPS to rx2 and tx1. Instead of rx2 and tx2

Before we had Naze3 we had a basic altitude hold function on even 32stm Freeflight boards. If someone can script a switch to have a better than mavic mini 2 alt hold it would be excellent for long range 4" quads.

I just set the special function for the logging to start with the arm switch. Seemed logical and all the rest of my switches except the momentary switch are being used for other things.

U have to deactivate the switch after it comes close enough to take over control

Can the return to home function be set to battery level? Other words, when the quad is down to a critical power level the GPS will know it and begin to return to home. Are the 'flight characteristics different with GPS? Will it hover/and/or maneuver with more stability or more predictable?

Weird. I put the BN-880 in my quad last night. Plugged into my laptop and a battery plugged in, my betaflight screen showed satellites, longitude and Latitude. I took the quad to work today and on my lunch break I went to fly and it did show longitude and latitude but 0 satellites. I waited for 2 minutes before I just gave up. At home tonight I plugged in a battery. I got longitude and latitude after 1 minute 30 seconds. It took 4 minutes 55 seconds of just sitting there before it got any satellites. Very weird. I could have sworn it said 26 seconds for a cold start. But I did finally get speed readings, which is what I was after.

Yes when I change locations sometimes it takes as long as 5 or so min before it finds enough satellites.

At 12:57 my X-Lite pro radio shows only 3 "sensors" and it's not discovering anything related to GPS although I have a Beitian BN-880.

Either his Crossfire or his GPS is on both RX and TX of the same UART - which is pretty standard for either of those devices :)

Hey. Nice tutorial. I have one question. Did you have any issue displaying the gps info in your osd ? For some strange reason, I can only get ‘alt’ to show up. Nothing else, like the arrow, distance to home, lat and long, number of sats etc will appear in my osd. Tried pal/ntsc with no joy 🤔. They show up in betaflight on the osd settings page, even when I move them to the centre they still aren’t there in my goggles 🤔

@@ViperFPV Hi. Yes, i had GPS feature selected. I solved the problem. Turns out it was UART related. When i put the GPS module on a different UART, everything popped up ! Strange huh ?

Hi, i follow your step but when i move the switch for gps rescue it start climbing and when he start going back to me the my quad disarm after 2 seconds and he crash, you have an idea to fix that ?

Does it need to be 3v pad? It has an onboard 3v regulator so would 5v work?

3v unless you know for a fact that the one you bought can take 5v

Can you help I've got a jumper t lite when I select Aux channel and switch this happens I choose Aux 3/4/5/6 etc it's goes to Aux 1 or SC rear left to arm Express LRS hear on quad need Aux 1 only but I can't so I can have drop and la d as fail safe but can't put GPS rescue on a switch but I want too can you help me sort it out cheers keep em coming cheers from cold wet UK

Hi. I see when you went into the mode tab and selected GPS rescue you then were able to activate this and turn the box with gps rescue orange. I see you were doing this on the Bench. I have done everything that you have done but switch won't activate the gps rescue. Any advice thanks

Viper_FPV gps is enabled. The module flash’s and when I’m in gps tab I am picking up to 10 satellites and I get a map where I am. When in mode tab. I get the marker moving across the screen when switch is moved on tx and I know when it goes into the activation area it should turn the gps rescue orange. I get everything else like arm and flight modes working ok and I tried the fail safe and that works it’s just the gps rescue that’s not working.

I have to set GPS rescue switch value to stage 1 failsafe field to be able to use gps rescue aux switch if it's not there then my quod just drops (disarm), Is there any particular reason for which fc is not able to switch to stage 2 failsafe. I have kept the values to 4 which is less than half a second. Using SUCCESS-X fc with bn-220 Can anyone help me with this

I have the new flywoo explorer xl caddx dji combo I was wondering if I'm out to low for gps rescue to work, the settings are like you showed in the video exactly I flew out about 500ft 10ft off the ground and engaged gps rescue via switch the quad turned toward me moved forward about 10ft and then dropped so weird not sure whats going on its set on gps rescue not drop or land anyway thanks sooooo much for the help!

@@ViperFPV I did that at first with the stock settings far away and it did work i think my desent distance was set to 200 meters which might be causing it to drop when it gets within range even though its only 10ft off the ground set gps_rescue_descent_dist =[number] (default is 200) although it was set to 50 meters i read somewhere you can set to 30 min

Land or fly very low far enough away and turn off your radio. That’s how you test it.

Coming from Inav, I setup BF rescue and all works fine except when I turn OFF my TX BF doesn't recognize FS even though throttle drops to 885. In Inav it works, parachute turns red. Any ideas? Thx

christianmmoser when you plug it in it then acquires the satellites and that spot u plug in is considered the home location. Moving from place to place it can take up to 5 min before it picks up all the satellites between 8-12.

Viper_FPV just that i understand it correct. as soon as i see in my goggles that the count of satellites appears which i selected as minimum satellites in the betaflight failsafe gps rescue tab, then i know that the gps safed the current position as home position? i inow that when i plugged the quad to betaflight that i can see visually when the gps fix is done. do i somehow see it directly on the gps unit or is there an osd which shows that the home location is set - without beeing connected to betaflight.

christianmmoser the quad will not arm until the min gps satallites are acquired and that will be your home location.

Hi, I already install the M8N glonass gps module. but seems it doest lock the position. on the betaflight is said 3d fix status is false. do you have any work around on this?

How long are you waiting when connecting a battery? U have to be outside so the GPS can get synced to at least 8 satellites before it will lock. Typically after a battery is connected it takes about 5 min.

@@ViperFPV okay thats my mistake because i was indoor. i wait around 15 minutes and no gps were locked. thanks. One more question, what is the term "false" at 3d fix status on the betaflight? Does it indicate wrong wiring or something else?
