no way people still think there is a "race" for ROTY🤣 Wemby had that shit won in January. That block vs Chet in their last matchup was the nail in the coffin.
If Chet wins the championship with his team, he'll have a legitimate claim over the ROTY title. We all know the Sprus won't be in the playoffs, so we will hear about Chet long after Wemby stops playing. But if we take only what they showed so far, obviously Wemby is the ROTY
@@KlayaR__ ROTY is a regular season and an individual award. Anything these rookies do outside the regular season and anything their team mates does is irrelevant to winning the award.
best rookie season Ive ever seen in my life. Ive never seen a 7'4 dude bring the ball up the court and shoot a logo 3, then block the opposing center on the following possession. Its nuts. I bet he puts up a quadruple double at some point in his career. Good video editing btw, earned a sub out of me.
I can assume you didn't see Jordan and Shaq their rookie years (not to mention Wilt or Kareem) to name a few people. That being said, without the minutes restriction, I think Wemby belongs in the conversation for the best rookie season in the modern era (since 1980).
As a spurs fan I would love nothing more, but DPOY is a different kind of race and with Spurs defensive rating being 24th worst in NBA hard to give him the nod for DPOY

@@sebindabin Spurs have the best defense in the league when he's on the floor, and easily the worst when he's not. Minnesota has two defensive stars and they are a worse defense than Spurs with Wemby on the floor. Wemby has been getting blocks are a far higher rate recently than anyone has pace for STOCKS. Dude is easily the best defender in the entire league, 3/4 of the way into his rookie season.
@@lunareynolds1862 Spurs are 8th in defensive rating in the league when Wemby is on the court, dead last by several points when he's not. And you're right he's my DPOY and easily best defender in the league. Replace him with any other DPOY candidates and you can't deny that team would be even more trouble defensively.. I'm just being the devil's advocate and explaining why I don't think he'll actually win
I respect Chet for the repeated punishments he’s taking from Victor in head-to-head games. He would be ROTY if it wasn’t for Wemby, but it is. And it’s a no contest.
Wemby is unanimous ROTY, anything else is lying to yourself. He's the best defensive player in the league and has been p much since the all star break. He's one of the best scorers as a rookie ever, and is incredibly efficient as far as rookies go, he's already on his way to be an elite shooter by season end, let alone what we'll see his sophomore szn. There is no race, that's media narrative bs. Dude is arguably the best rookie of all time, let alone against merely a generational rookie in Chet

As a Spurs fan I’m worried that if the Spurs don’t rush and put the right pieces around Wemby he’s gonna wanna go somewhere else. I really hope that Wemby has patients because the Spurs will do right by him. It’s just going to take some time.
His career moves and his interviews show he cares more about the team providing him with the means to grow and making him the center pawn rather than just winning games. He's very competitive, but so much so he needs to feel he made a difference and it's something he wouldn't feel as much in a bigger team.
Obviously, as I clicked on this video AND subscribed, it's no brainer my favourite player would be Wemby, no ? But I'll pump fake you all and go with Kevin Durant. Two things about this choice : Victor himself confirmed it's videos of KD's games he grew up watching the most, that he looks up to him, and when asked by Malika what special moment of his current year in the NBA he would pick, he said the moment he played against KD came to mind. If a generational talent has chosen another player as his role model, it says something about the two of them. Then there was the incident of the beer-holding Mav's fan shouting abuse at KD, who calmy had words with that couple and was a class act. To me no great player is that great if his personality does not match his skills. After all, I started getting interested in BB with Magic Johnson, so... I'd love to get a Kevin Durant jersey, if I can't get a Wembanyama one ! My third choice would be Dominick Barlow, i'm very curious about his potential with the Spurs.

...chet had no chance...no chance... he's the third or 4th option on that team...wemby would easily be the 2nd option on that team...and the franchise player over SGA easily...put chet on this current spurs team... he'll be the 3rd option behind vassell and kelon maybe even shochan if pop didn't mess with his development he eould be a lot better this year but ge tried to make sochan the starting pg...wemby is the rookie of the year...chet is good cause he's surrounded by good players...wemby is good cause he's just good and he's surrounded by mostly bench players...

They’re last in the Western Conference. He hasn’t taken over the NBA. Lets calm down a little. He’s not the second coming of Jesus Christ.

He’s pretty much the same build Giannis was when he got in the league, chill out. Giannis weighed 190 his rookie year @ 7 ft tall. And Wemby weighs 230 now. He put on 20 lbs already.
