AVP should have a built-in "MacOS" app, instead of requiring everyone to carry an extra laptop.

I feel like this product seems more and more limited the more reviewers explore its potential, i know this will never happen but i really did hope this device had external display input so it could be used for more than just apple stuff

So, if you are looking for something to work with non-apple products then that means you are not in the Apple eco-system. Which usually means bias already. Also you are looking for something COMMON. But, What people seem to miss with everything Apple has done in the last many successes is this. 1. Apple Creates a well designed "PLATFORM" that can be used to create stuff 2. Apple does not try to develop all the USE CASES for using the Platform 3. Apple empowers Developers to create the Use Cases and they are Rewarded with MONEY FROM SALES... Of course Apple takes 30% for providing the Platform and Buyers So, None of their Major Products have been designed as Stand-Alone Non-Expandable Product. Old iPhones get good feature changes Every Year.

@@QuestionMeWillYou i use a mac for daily stuff and have a pc i play games on and i one button swap between them with a kvm depending on what i am doing. I'm paying for 6tb icloud tier so uh, you can't really say i'm not in the ecosystem, i'm just not so narrowminded that i HAVE to choose one or the other like you guys. I accept the pros and cons on both "sides" and i use them accordingly. I just hoped such an expensive product to have a bit... more options, that's all. edit: i see you're the kind of person i shouldn't have spent time replying to, you got me, congrats

@@staiain Sorry to have miss assessed. I do work on PC, Mac and iPad. And when I'm using my Mac I either Remote Desktop into My Work Laptop. Or I use Parallels to run a Virtual instance of Windows. I also use my iPad that has many Remote Desktop Apps to log into my Windows Laptop. That being said... Most of those Remote Desktop Apps that are iPad Apps, also work in Vision Pro. So, You can remote from Vision Pro into your PC and Play Games. Now, you may say...well the resolution and game play may not be as responsive.... Well possibly... But you would be on the same network. I have a PS5 and I can remote play my PS5 in Vision Pro. Yes... look it up. So... ultimately I just think there are different ways to achieve things. And from the Reviewers I honestly think Many of them, buy the device, play with it for a week or so, and then take it back. And they don't really know the true capabilities.... they just have to create content.... But hopefully you see you can do what you described and have it in a window floating or in an immersive world.

You can easily program nowadays straight from a browser. No need for native vs code app

I would love if they did for the keyboard, what they do for hands. If I could go on step less than full emmersion and be able to see my keyboard. Wow, that would be great for this non-touch typist.

but mirroring your mac is only 1080 & not 4k, no?

The answer is that it's complicated. The resolution you mirror from macOS is, by default, well above 1080p (and can go up to 5k) However, the "physical resolution" -- as in the amount of pixels taken up on the vision pro -- is a function of how large you make the window on the headset, and how far afield you place it. TLDR; it's not a 1:1 mapping. What we can say is that it's still really good!

Andrew, doesn’t it annoy you that Mr Hood and the lake are behind the windows in front of you? Have you discovered yet that you CAN move the perspective of the background so that the mountain and lake are next to you instead of hidden?

I think you are likely confusing foveated rendering with just the fact that things that are near the edges of the field of view are blurrier because of the optics. Foveated rendering is based on where you eyes are looking - so if you are looking down at the bottom of a document, it is rendering that as high quality as it can. But if then moving you head to "recenter" it makes it sharper - that is an optics limitation, not foveated rendering. While the end result is the same, foveated rendering shouldn't get the blame for that :)

foveated rendering uses hardware eye tracking in combination with software to allocate GPU power to wherever you’re looking on the display and make it as high fidelity as possible, and then everything else outside of your center vision is lower fidelity. this circle of clarity follows wherever you are looking on the display. The reason why the edges of the DISPLAY are not very sharp has nothing to do with foveated rendering. it’s simply a hardware limitation due to lensing and probably other physical factors that no one has figured out yet how to overcome in this current form factor.

I think it’s safe to say this is an amazing 1.0 device, but the harsh realities of tech in 2024 make this just not right for most people who can afford it. If they can make this weigh 30% less or more, reduce the overall size, and increase the field of view, I think it would have been a much easier sell. I have full confidence in their ability to upgrade the software significantly over time, but I don’t know if I want to be running Vision OS 3.0 in a 1.0 device, I think I’ll wait until the hardware meets the software.

I have the Vision Pro and I love it. And Much like the Apple Watch, People were looking for a Device that had some Killer Thing. Well, We are beyond that thinking. Now we are in the era of "Killer Features for ME!". Not everyone will use it that same. And any early device has people who can imagine and those who can't. I remember those "Dumb iPads"! lol

The fact that you can only have 1 external display is incredibly annoying. Some other RU-vidrs have tried setting the 1 display to 5k resolution so they can comfortably have multiple apps open in in every corner.

its limited by power i think as far as having multiple virtual displays but you can have safari on one window, notes on another a timer on another etc still as they're native to the vision pro, I agree its frustrating but still has a large amount of multi tasking capacity imo even with this limitation

There's already a Mac on your face. Needing a second to do basic things is dumb and by design so you'll also buy a Mac. Magic of apple is waning. Vision isn't really a great VR headset since you also need to carry around a Mac everywhere.

Meeeh yet , you can’t use a keyboard in full immersive mode, you can’t use eye + cursor in an accurate way. The hand / finger tapping is not discriminating the context of the action. The camera does not colour hands to match the environnement, you can’t work accurately on dark environnement, you can’t bend screen, you can’t use a hard surface and project keyboard, you don’t have overlay keyboard like on the Quest headset, you can’t plug a usb KEY, you can’t focus on close objects, you can’t I use your phone or ipad flawlessly with the Vision Pro …. That’s a lot to swallow for this version

lol... Why are people trying to make the device be something that already exists and that thing that already exists has yet to get people who are NOT GAMERS to buy it..... Also people don't understand what would be Hardware versus Software changes. Many people have a total lack of imagination and sounds just like they did with (iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Air Pods, etc...). I guess if you are negative all the time one day you might me right? lol I remember people trying to compare Apple Watch to FitBIt!!!! Made no sense at all! Two completely different things that they didn't understand....
