Love love everything you are doing and experiencing. Get LIQUID FENCE to keep bunnies & Deer away from plants. It works in South. Will not hurt plants. Recommend by many pros. Lowe’s carries it or u can order on line.

Irrigation is very common in the south but perhaps not Tennessee? We have lived in 3 homes and each have had installed irrigation. We live in Georgia and all homes in our community have irrigation installed by the builders. Having said that, I would love to transition some of my zones to drip irrigation for the beds. Good job Ernie!!

I enjoyed the video! I love the fact that Earnie is involved. I have two drip systems similar to that. One is a dual one and one a single. I did run the distribution tubing underground, but instead of weaving it through every bed, I just made a pass through each bed and connected 1/4 inch tubing with 6inch built in emitters and just looped them around my plants. If I need extra water, I can pop on another separate emitter, etc or loop it more around a certain plant. My beds are different shaped than yours, plus I wasn’t as precise. 😂 There really is no wrong way to do DIY irrigation! Looking forward to more videos!! ❤ oh and “goof plugs” are a must (for me 😂)

Great video! You already know I love your garden. Might even attempt the drip system. I need to water what the sprinklers don’t. I lost my “Ernie” four years ago. It’s been hard to do the heavy work but I do what I can. You are very blessed to have him. Does he have an older brother? lol. I’m in Omaha. Zone 6. Very lucky to be spared the tornado devastation. I have friends who lost everything but at least they survived. Keeping giving us those garden videos. Love them and you.

Very interesting, I need that done to my flower beds, but my flower beds are too far away from the faucet on the house, would have to dig a very long way to reach them, it sure would save me a lot of work though, that carrying water is the pits!!

I can’t believe the builders did run irrigation. Here in Florida all new homes get irrigation. We have lived in our home for 20 years and irrigation was ran in all of whole development. I guess in TN in rural areas they don’t.

Way to go Ernie, great job and a plus at saving 💰 💰 We did our own drip irrigation for our vegetable garden which is a rather large area including a greenhouse and it’s been a blessing during the heat of the South. So thankful my husband is like your Ernie, we definitely got lucky in the husband department 🫶🏻

Hi Anna. Awesome video. Very informative. I am glad that my new home had the irrigation system. I live in Florida and the sun here is brutal not to mention that I have sandy soil. You would think that the company who sold you your home would think about that. They did not give you the grass. I guess it has to do with the city ordinance. Here in cape coral Florida the city ordinance are very strict with builders and the appearance of the city. Nevertheless, the good thing is that you get to choose what to do in your garden. It looks amazing. This days companies think that money grows on trees. 10,000 wao. I think is because they use underground tubing that last longer. I wonder how long it would last the one you installed. Blessings ❤

Good morning Anna, everything looking beautiful. We live deep south and put in both lighting and irrigation. My husband did the same thing Ernie did...he laid the hardwired lighting and underground irrigation in front and back gardens with timers as well. He purchased all from Lowes.⚜😊❤

Great video! We are doing something similar. We are in the southeast so we only need irrigation in the summer months as well. We have beds on all sides of our house so we are just covering our tubing with several inches of mulch and will winterize the system come fall.

I suppose it depends on where you live and the conditions. Mine get watered daily and love it. It's a tropical plant. We grew it as a perennial in California. I wish it was a perennial here...sadly it is not.

It’s not a perennial here in Michigan, but I noticed and learned from others who grow them, that they don’t like their feet too wet. The leaves turn yellow and fall off. Happy growing, just sharing my experience. ✨

Thank you for a fabulous tutorial! I do have a question....can you still attach a regular hose to your outside faucet or would you have to attach a diverter to the spigot first and then attach the timer to one of the divert spigots?

Yes ma'am. Great question! After filming Ernie added a two way spigot. SO now I can attach my hose to one side and the timer is connected to the other. 😊

Excellent video on how to do irrigation on a small scale. I did this last year with garden hose and this tubing is so much better!! How long do you run the timer per watering? I am in midwest and clay soil too. Thank you ❤

@maureenh3944 we originally set it for 30 mins twice a day then quickly realized that was to much right now. Maybe in August we will go back. Just once a day for 30 mins. It's been really elwarm and windy. Its amazing how everything perked up after their first watering. They love it!

I dead head most things. As I do my weekly fertilizer, I tend to pull of anything unpleasant looking. ☺️
