Instead of monthly re-occurring fees we can offer a coupon for extra benefits. Increasing revenue through a coupon strategy is a promising idea. By offering users 10 free deliveries for an extra $5, we provide a clear incentive for increased usage. This can generate immediate revenue, create a competitive edge, and allows for user flexibility. However, effective communication and managing potential user resistance are key considerations in its implementation.

a subscription model here will be profitable only when it attracts a lot of new customer who does not order as much (Segment A). So, that the ones who already order a lot (Segment B), are covered by these new customers. If that doesn't happen, then it will push the company to reduced revenue

So it is valid to tell the uber HR that you would take a moment to make an analysis or everything before your answer?

It's totally ok to ask for a minute. However, the interviewer who'd be asking you the product interview questions are usually people in the Product team rather than the HR team. I hope it helps.

Would it have helped in this specific situation given your'e the CPO to list user groups and identify the journey?

There are two ways to approach this question: - as a product strategy question - a product improvement question Stefanos approached it as a product strategy question, which you don't need to include user groups for. However, if you are asked about user groups or decide to use a product improvement framework, yes definitely.

If this answer was given at an Uber interview , i don't think he would have moved to the next round

It's very likely that they wouldn't. I agree it wasn't a stellar answer.

What about competitive analysis? Who are Uber's competitors? What products do they have? What are the trend these days in transportation? how do people travel? How can we incorporate that with our products? What about Testing the market? MVP? He keep on suggesting solution but then after 2 min he reject it by analyzing the cost , drivers interest etc..???

This is a great point Del. Thanks for the feedback. You're right. The competitive analysis is very important and should be taken into consideration as part of the product / industry analysis.

Thanks for the feedback Nipun. Feel free to share your thoughts here on what you didn't like about the answer. It will be valuable for the community.

Areas for improvement: 1) The PM spent a lot of time talking about solutions 2&3, which are difficult to implement and are not priorities. In a real interview scenario, I assume you don't spend more than 30 minutes on one question? 2) He didn't (explicitly) discuss metrics such as acquisition, activation, engagement, retention, referral, etc.. 3) Please use a headset or at least close the door behind you.

Thanks for the feedback. Great points. Your point that the interviewee has less than 30 minutes during the session is valid. Also, discussing the metrics is a good idea if there is time. Sometimes, the interviewer doesn't expect you to spend time discussing the metrics, in which case you can skip it. And thanks for the third tip on closing the door :)

These are literally the dumbest questions. Basically crowdsourcing ideas which they then can take and implement. (If they hear valuable ideas) . FB asked me this question and I said “ ask me a different question that will give you data points on this topic. Unless I am hired, I wouldn’t want to do work for free.”

Thank you for sharing this. I would however say that this is the reality of pm interviews.

@@Alex-kf4pl I got an offer but didn’t join. Stripe beat Meta’s offer. In retrospect it worked out. I would have joined at the peak stock price back then.

"How can we boost our revenue?" "Just raise the price!" Why is the current price set as it is? What's the pricing strategy in comparison to competitors? How many customers might switch to a different product if the price goes up? It's a simple and silly response. There's more to consider.
