I am amazed by the way Gabe is coolly working out the structure in his mind and at the same time zapping out Solutions. This interview has helped me a lot. Good job everyone.

Super informative mock interview. The question forced the candidate to think for a well-structured answer and the candidate did it amazingly well. Thanks a lot for this video.

I think this was an interesting question, with scope for lot of creativity but also easy to wander. I think he did quite well with his thought process and categorizing things

Thanks for the content! Love the structure and framework used here. Only one piece of suggestion: it would be better if Gabe can share the google doc while he's typing. It would be more visionary and clearer that way. In all, good work!

When given with a "blue sky" question such as this (no further information about what the intended usage will be, users etc.), does it make sense to ask some clarifying questions upfront about what kind of app/product are we looking to design? There can be vastly different outcomes when you say "gardening" app. For e.g. it could be an e-commerce app connecting buyers to businesses, a marketplace, editorial/featured content kind of app or a quora-style Q&A type of app. How does one understand which path to move forward with? In this case the interviewee doesn't clarify this upfront.

Absolutely Sid. I think asking clarification questions is a must do.

@@ProductManagementExercises ok, thanks. Follow up question: How would you proceed if you ask that question and the interviewer says “whatever path you like”? How would you pick a path to proceed?
@ProductManagementExercises
@ProductManagementExercises 3 года назад
@@sidvarma2004 Pick whatever path you like but make sure you have a justification for it. As long as you have a justification, it's fine. There is no right answer. There just needs to be a reason.

Thanks for these kind of out of the box questions, but where is the "DESIGN" in the answer? I am sorry, I am a developer, so for me designing an App (MVP) is representing the user journey to identify user problems and how to solve it by using App features. After this a wireframe diagram of the App/navigation is essential. Metrics for MVP app should be the number of downloads and users usage of the app. Please let me know if my thoughts are no in line with the expected answer.

Thanks for the feedback. Design usually refers to starting from scratch whereas product improvement usually works with an existing product. Which steps of the Design flow do you think was missed in this video?
