Even if he's sober from alcohol and narcotics, no doubt they've got him on a shitload of psych meds. A clue to that is the saliva in the corners of his mouth and the distant eyes. So he'll never be the same Artie, but at least he'll be alive and safe.

I've only recently stumbled upon this channel and Brads many interviews of former Stern staffers, and people formerly connected to the show. But the high, high majority of interviews, stories, and outlets have huge theories and guesses on what was going on at the Stern show over the past 15 years. But they're always based on a few quotes from a former staffer, or at best, one interview. Brad reaching such an overwhelming number of former, but very important people from the show, brings instant credibility to the subject, as it's the people themselves telling their stories. I also appreciate that Brad aks a question, and actually allows the subject to answer. Even Howard himself can't help but constantly interrupt guests when he interviews him, so I appreciate the patience and instinct Brad has as an interviewer. Like most, I feel the 2002-2013-ish dates were the best, and I still love hearing from all the folks Brad gets to. The series of interviews on this channel has really exposed Howard and the show, as incredibly hypocritical and unkind. I mean, it's not even up for debate in my opinion. But what I like, is that people can watch the interviews and make up their own minds, as Brad is getting right to the people who actually experienced it. Well done Brad. 👍

I agree with everything they said about Howard exploiting Artie's real life issues but you could say the same about somebody willing to write and release a book during that same difficult time. It might not be exactly the same but Artie's issues were still beneficial to the sale of the book and let's just say the book didn't help to quash Langes messed up image. So even though I personally don't have a problem with it I do think it's a tad hypocritical of the guy to say some of that stuff from his not so high horse.

Artie was okay on the Stern Show. He was very good on Stern when he wasn’t on drugs. The last couple of years were awful he was falling asleep, interrupting and was always away. Howard did some awful things by making Artie’s psychosis part of the show, like Teddy, his sleeping and just letting him go off. It was good radio but you saw a downward spiral coming. But those years of the Stern show were amazing and now Howard will not even play those years on Sternology and will probably never go back there. It’s sad that Stern is so ashamed of those shows even if they were so crazy and entertaining. You can’t hide from your past because it’s all over You Tube.

I think in the moment Howard genuinely thought he helping Artie. And, creating drama for the show is such a huge part of what they do. It was like reality TV on the radio. It did seem like after the fact, Howard felt some guilt and didn’t/isn’t monetize the moment. I also think Howards ego will let him admit that Artie made the show great during those years cause that would take some of the shine off of him. Even more so now that he’s cleaned up his image considerably.

That's not quite what Bozza is saying. He (Bozza) backpedals pretty quickly, and says "Well, I think Artie knew his mom was coming over, not necessarily that there was an intervention." But there is maybe a little nugget there: in both his 1995 + 2010 suicide attempts, Artie took action in the very early hours of sunrise, a few hours before his family or MadTV coworkers were going to come looking for him. Robin Quivers felt that this made it "a cry for help" -- I don't know enough to say for certain, but the commonality is noteworthy. Consider that, if Artie was always on-time as he claims, it's pretty strange that David Herman + Orlando Jones would come looking for him after an hour or two, after filming only nine MadTV episodes. Something more was going on there.

Artie was the perfect match for the Howard Stern show. I loved him in that role. However, his standup routine is super unfunny & cringe worthy IMO.

I agree 10000 percent… watched both dvds and saw him live. His fast comebacks on the show was his best role
