Hey guys,
In this video lm showing you how to remove a stock steering wheel from a Holden VN Commodore.
When wanting to remove a steering wheel from any car they will be roughly the same and this should hopefully give you a head start on making you car ride the car you want it to be.

lol lm glad you have asked this questions as l broke the outside door handle on the drivers passenger side. I have brought the replacement door handle but l just need to find some time now to replace it over but as soon as l get the time l will be uploading a video on that too :)

Hey mate, thanks for the video, quick question, I bought a VS with aftearket steering wheel but the horn doesn't work, any ideas on what it may be?? Cheers mate..

Hey Nigel, 2 things come to mind that it could either be the horn button itself which if thats the case if its an aftermarket steering wheel you should be able to find a replacement part then or it could be when you connect the wires into the back of the horn they come out when you put it all back together as l know in my VL if l ever took the wheel off then back on again for what ever reason sometimes the little wiring clips would just pop off for some reason. hope this helps mate :) feel free to post pictures or videos how your works

matia92 .. I recently changed a drivers door exterior door lock on my VT. Completely srip the door card etc, but be very gentle with the wing-mirror clips etc, as they are a pain...

Help required... I have just replaced the steering column on my 91 caprice(due to an attempt to steal it, hence to ignition was bracket damaged) and now I find that the spline is too short to fit the steering wheel. I had trouble originally because I bolted in the new column and did not realize I had the spline too far in the connecting bracket near the rack. I finally unbolted everything again and then had trouble with the circlip on the steering wheel end, as it was way too short to fit said circlip. I have since fitted circlip as required, but now there is not enough spline showing to fit boss for steering wheel(as was already fitted). I am about to lose the plot, so before I put a match to the whole car, can anyone tell me where I am going wrong. Thanks in advance for any suggestions...

+Greg Whitbread I have to remove the column and somehow accurately measure the correct length. I will probably mig the two sections so that it will no longer be "Collapsable" Ps, After doing the above, I find the car much more precise in the steering !!...

Popcoin Gaming honestly mate lm un sure but l have been told its a very similar. With that being said tho l believe most (not all all but most) of the vs did have air bags in the steering wheel so make sure you disconnect the battery before you attempt this but again lm not sure if there would be enough power still in the system to accidently set of the bag

Just wondering if same method applies to a 1996 VS Commodore (Executive) with Column Shift.

Hey Capital K, to tell you the honest truth l dont actually know. If you putting a boss kit on for another steering wheel l couldnt think it would make any difference as you are making the steering wheel go away from the column shift giving it more room l would think so l wouldnt think it would make a difference. All l would suggest is give it a crack but take it easy and be careful. Even post a video reply for others that may be in the same situation :)

+TheRoverman88 BE VERY CAREFULL IF THE VEHICLE, ( a VS,I see) ?) so be CAREFUL WITH THE AIRBAG !!

l understand what your saying but l dont think l changing your steering wheel over is going to effect a wheel alignment unless you have got your wheels in full lock and you put the steering wheel back in straight but even then l dont think it would effect it as it would just mean you steering wheel is going to be around the wrong way.

+Ash Blanch with the boss kits l have used in the past (l think there is only really one design for boss kits but l could be wrong) but generally there is 6 hex head bolts that need to be removed from the front of the steering wheel that releases it from the boss kit

TheRoverman88 yeahh ive found they're generally the same on most sports steering wheels. I was trying to remove the sports steering wheel boss kit and replace it with the Cars original steering wheel system. I eventually switched them after alot of prying and pulling and a few broken nails haha

hey dan, dunno if you will ever find a brand new original steering wheel but if you do l dunno how much it would be but l would buy it. best bet is to try and find another one which isnt as damaged as much but if your going for a after market steering wheel including a boss kit to fit it to the car they can range from $100 to $200+

Yes i would have to find a used one. I tried of of those Steering Wheel covers they sell at Auto stores. I hated it. I didn't like the feel. What happened, I left my window open and it was raining and the rain literally messed up the fabric of the steering wheel. I'm looking on Ebay now and see a few Cavalier steering wheels for like 90 bucks in great condition.

Very thorough good job. But have you considered that when you take your steeringwheel off and put it (or a different one) back on that you cant really get it back on perfectly? So I guess that puts the wheel alignment out.

That puts the steering out not the alignment. The tyres won't wear any differently

+Ryan Reed they can be a bugger to get off, l found the wheel removing kits you can get cheap work well, wont get many uses out of them but for the few uses you do get they work well
