Empty cartridges left for more than 3 days do not always give a successful refill.

Thanks so much. I was so hesitant to do my own refill but the hp envy 5055 blew threw the ink within s couple of weeks. So I ordered online, no instructions on what or how to do the refills :/ So yours was the first video I pulled up and I did everything exactly as you instructed. Worked perfectly immediately. No spills, gloves weren't even necessary. But I could definitely see if you aren't watching the 3 little holes to make sure none of them come past surface level then most definitely it would be a mess. Because I did inject ink very slowly into middle hole and noticed the top right hole came to surface level so I went to that hole and pulled it back. Then injected some into top left, until center and top right came to surface and then I pulled some back to on both until I couldn't see. Wiped off previous ink with alcohol wipe. Put label back on leaving top holes exposed and then poked hole in label to expose the middle one. Ran a print test page immediately after and it came out perfectly. Thanks a lot! Side Note for users: My cartridge was completely empty and for the hp envy 5055 I used 4.25 ml to do a complete refill with the black ink.

thanks friend.... I have refilled cartridges myself many times but I had a cartridge that was clogged for the first time. I watched your video and then I ran some hot water over the printhead and then I put a paper towel over the top (so i wouldn't get ink on my lips) and blew into the cartridge and it worked great......in fact ALOT of ink came out for a moment. I usually refilled before I ran out of ink in the cartridge but unfortunately I forgot and since it ran out of ink it dried very quickly in the printhead.

I have a Lexmark printer. The only black ink cartridge this printer would recognize was out of ink. (All other cartridges I purchased gave me an "Error 1203" message). I decided to refill the old cartridge with ink, but after doing so the ink would not come out of the jets since dried ink had clogged them. I was just about to toss out the printer when I watched this video. I had tried all the hot water dips, alcohol wipes, etc. with no success. What worked for me was the vacuum cleaner trick. Now my printer is working flawlessly again. Thank you very much for a very clever solution!

Well...helpful video... i should had seen it before turning my black ink cartridge into a leak cartridge. It is my first time in refilling inks of printer and I charged myself with a loss of 1 cartridge but now have to buy the pair..... About this video i would like to say that a little more display should be shown too. like the bottom of hydrophobic foam there's a base just beneath the foam which is also a little similar to hydrophobic material.Its the place where the ink gets drop onto to get into the process of use when printing.. Means that there are two things in cartridge. 1 stores ink (hydrophobic foam) and other (base) pass it for use. When syringing the foam to fill the ink you had to be careful for not penetrating into the base which cause in leaking the cartridge and that's mean you had to replace this cartridge with a new one. No second option is available except for if the cartridge is a little cheap to buy (used one). Remember one thing too, don't just put the entire needle into the cartridge. put it half into the cartridge so it will be in the half or center of the hydrophobic foam and the base will remain secure too. I found it right after watching this video. I don't know if this cartridge is original or whatever but the cap of the cartridge is sealed and can't be open like this. I opened my leak cartridge which now exists, through a heated up knife to melt the sealings to make it open and observe the internal process or behind the scene :D thing....

Thank you for this info. I damaged mt 1st cartridge as i also as pushed the needle all the way in. And for some reason all videos dont mention not to do this? Half way down as you say is a good. Although i just enter the neddle all the way in but at a 45 degree angle so you miss the base with no fear of damage and filling from the bottom means you can fill the cart up in one go as if you only put the needle half way in you only fill the sponge partly and have to do it again once the ink has settled. In the Video it also says dont cover the holes as air needs to get in? I dont think thats right as there not open when you but them. Although I could be wrong?

andya07774 the holes on top of the casrtridge are open. if you watch under the adhesive there are little thin channels for the air

Add this text to your info: HP printers will not align or work properly without the color cartridge. We don't care if you don't need the color function and that the ink will dry out if not used and be a waste of your money. If you remove the top off the cartridge please READ THIS. may I suggest when you take apart a 5-10 ml. cartridge you will typically find a molded shape with a sponge in it. The molded shape or sponge retainer can be cut with a wire snip or other method to remove most of the retainer. An 1/8 inch wall left intact at the bottom will be ok since the sponge can conform to the space. If you have a couple of old cartridges take them apart. Cut 1-2 of them to occupy the new sponge space. As long as there is contact between the sponge pieces and the backside sponge of the ink screen then the ink will flow. Be sure to top off the new sponge config you just made and let it rest for 24 hours. You might be amazed how much ink your reworked cartridge holds! Let me know how it goes for you!!

In a totally empty cartridge, I use less ink than you state because I ruined a printer once using that much ink; it just leaked. The video is good, however.

I purchased a black/colour hp 301 pack, and after THREE copies, the black refused to print. I removed the black cartridge and continued to use the colour only. That has just run out and I got 83 copies. Some difference, huh ? The printer worked with just the colour cartridge in place.

Hi Poster, Thanks for this video. It helps on getting rid of the trick of printer companies that makes us buy their expensive cartridges. And specially a student like me who can't afford expensive replace cartridges. I guess I understood how to refill but I don't know what to do after refilling the cartridges. i mean, what to do when the printer does not recognize the refilled cartridge? Another thing, where can I buy the inks (color and black) and syringe? BTW my printer is All-in -one deskjet HP 2540. It comes with HP 61 type cartridges,one tri-color and one black. Thanks for any response in advance.

D KC you can buy inks on ebay for example. then you can use a normal pharmaceutical syringe with needle. to reset hp cartridge search in this channel "Reset method ink cartridges HP 300 342 343 344 348 350 61 62" I think this is the only method that really works but you'll need 3 cartridges, not important if empty or not.

Why do I not put the sticker back on? it looks like you put a yellow sticker on before you put it back in the printer…some sites say to cover the holes with tape?

+Adam Supey Do not use adhesive tape on print-head, you may damage nozzles. it's useless to place a tape because the ink is already inside the nozzles. new cartridge have tape but there is no ink inti the nozzles

I refilled my hp 61 & hp 61xl cartridges & they print fine, but my problem is that they dont last very long. I already had to refill like 5 times in the last 2 months. Why does it not last as long as getting professional refilled cartidges?

920 cartridges in Officejet 7000 large-format printer. Will these instructions work with this cartridge? Any special instructions for this cartridge or printer? I print mostly black. CMY cartridges get used in power-on cleaning cycles. I don't want the head to plug up. Also I don't want to keep replacing CMY cartridges if I don't use them. The counter of the cartridge has reached the end of life, there is no way to reset it unless you insert 4 other cartridges. The printer keeps in memory 4 ink cartridge codes

boab242424 probably too much ink, often 5 ml are enought. or the cartridge is too old and the sponge inside has become matted. let it over a flat surface until it stops

the air enters into the cartridge through the air vent holes. it's applicable to HP 3635. after the refill may be you have to do a reset procedure, you'll find the method in this channel but you'll need 2 extra cartridges. the ink jet inks you find in ebay and searching with google are almost the same

if an error message comes up on you ink cartridge this sounds stupid but your contacts are not connecting properly, after an hour trying to figure out putting in back in and out i put my tongue on the contacts put it back in a it worked the gold contacts dont make a electrical connection, a bit of saliva did the job lol

It's not necessary to remove ithe lid to refill a cartridge but you caan glue it with hot silicon glue for example

This is old. HP has gotten onto this. I miss the days of universal cartridges! Now, it is a rip off to buy new cartridges and some printers will not use refilled cartridges.

even after i refill cartridge it keeps saying error message. cartridge is out of ink. ive taken it out and cleaned the bottom with paper towel. I put black ink in the colored cartridge bcuz i never print in color. what can I do now..its leaking out of the bottom of the cartridge.

+蕙婷 if they are blinking fast it's a general error, you can only try disconnect the power cord with the power on. Wait one hour then reconnect the power cord. then turn on the product. If the issue persists, the printer needs to be repaired

Hi. I must have done something wrong here. Refilled a 61 cart because the ink seemed to not print at bottom of page a few times. When I run test page, it isperfect or near perfect. When I tried to copy, it would not show other than first few lines of page. I thought could be copier, but it scans fine and also think copy is ok. Went back to print and again, is clear for a wihle then nothing (or light blue where black should be... I ran out of black). Any ideas? This is an HP all in one machine. This cart is pretty new; its first refill... Thanks.

+car kal the test page has little text and graphics, a copy is probably 100% of the page so I think the problem is the cartridge. the cartridge may be overfilled, or try some cleaning procedures

i have refilled hp 678 cartridge but after it is put in printer, print out is not coming. in fact i can see few faded lines or no lines on the paper with some ink spilled on the trailing edges (towards corner) of the paper. Think it as case of overfilling, i even removed some of the ink but it is still not working. Can you suggest something to overcome the problem

there is no way to restore the ink level. you have to change the cartridge when quality become low, as we did in the first inkjet printers that were better than the ones made today. probably you overfill the cartridge, that's why it doesn't print

I suggest to resintal the printer driver, check the printer properties. grey scale are printed using the color cartridges, not the black cartridge

the method of the 3 cartridge described in the link does't works? try turn on the printer and remove the ink cartridges, then unplug the printer and wait one hour. then put the cartridges back in and plug the printer back. sometime it works. or try reinstalling the printer drivers

However there seems to be a conflict between your recommendations to leave the refill hole open ("because it needs to draw in air"). All original or replacement inkjet cartridges are sealed with a label or tape. What is the correct configuration? Should it be sealed or left open? As I said, all original and replacement inkjet cartridges are sealed and do not have "open holes to draw in air". the seal does not completely close the cartridge, on the top there are little channels who let the air enter inside the cartridge
